God I really wanted them to play the whole song “music” by Grammy-nominated Trent The Musician. It is my favorite song and I’ve personally listened to it many times on my way to my job at the factory.
It's nice, yeah. Joel is nice, for sure. Though it would have been interesting to see where the channel went without him. But no, it's cool. We'll forget the cruel tease of "what could have been", in time. We'll keep going down the familiar road. Sorry red bricks, not today, but it's okay. It's okay.
Joel and Trent together is like beans & rice, chocolate & peanut butter, or a burger with fries. They just go together and make you happy. I kinda want to cover up with a blanket of their friendship and joy.
What's funny is this is totally the premise of an anxiety dream ("I just found out I have a music career and that I'm scheduled to be the opening act at the Grammies this weekend" is basically a variation on "I just realized I forgot about that one college course, I missed all the lectures, and now the final exam is this weekend") but Trent is just too chill to be fazed by it.
That college dream is one of the only recurring dreams I get. I'll suddenly remember I haven't gone to class in months and then spend the whole dream worrying about having to do the semester over. I think for me it's because I only had classes 2-3 days a week and I was always a little paranoid I'd forget to go in on one of those days.
Trent getting psyched for the Grammys because they might have free grilled cheese is the kind of vibe I can appreciate. That's exactly why I listened to Bumfuck Nowhere 1.2 billion times.
I thought for sure there would be a general time when it always happens so no one person could reasonably shift the entire schedule like that, but apparently it doesn't even happen in the same month every year so for all we know big celebrities get this thing pushed back all the time. "Oh you were thinking February? Nah, Drake is going on vacation for that entire month, let's just slide it back to March... maybe April, whatever."
Trent should be nominated for an oscar for so convincingly playing someone with no musical ability even though he can actually rock a sick air guitar solo for hours on end.
I rlly like the idea that this was Trent's clever way to tell his friend that he is actually a famous musician, because he never wanted to stress Joel out by bring his work around him, and wasn't sure how to tell him all the years they've been friends.
Clearly he received inspiration from beyond the veil. Or, alternatively, he's channeling the trauma from being blown up by a landmine into his creative endeavors. Either way, it's working.
Teamwork is a big part of it. He works with super talented guys, and the sketches are not written, but mostly improv (as @LizLard1988 said), partly to let the actors add their own things that Joel may not have been able to come up with.
This has got to be one of my favorite ones. I've been a huge fan of Trent's music for minutes so I'm really glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves.
