My favorite of those you tried is the peanut cake (or as we say, "groundnut sugar cake"). The turnover is also nice. Another favorite of mine that wasn't included is a snack called "Asham". It's made of roasted corn that is ground to a powder and mixed with grounded sugar and salt. You're basically eating a powder, but it's sweet and salty (but not too sweet or too salty) and there is the nice flavor of roasted corn mixed in. Because it's a powder it can be a bit tricky to eat as you can easily accidentally inhale it and choke/cough while eating it. I believe it's a seasonal snack, usually available in late October and November. That's probably why you didn't have any. I haven't seen it in a long time though, but then again I don't go out much.
As you describe Asham, I’m picturing a popcorn taste of sugar and salt. I really love the groundnut sugar cake. It’s interesting the term “groundnut” is used because that’s what we call peanuts in Nigeria.😃 We never say peanuts, we say groundnuts.😁 As for Turnover, God bless the person who invented that snack. I’m curious of the name “Turnover”.
@@bubusboulevardtv The name "turnover" probably has to do with how it's made. After the coconut is put onto the flat dough it is rolled up or turned over on itself over and over. Current roll is made the same way except currants are used instead of the coconut and hence the "roll" in the name.
