    This must be the finest recording that I have ever seen of the Talyllyn Railway. Viewed on our smart tele, it provided an entertaining documentary that was enjoyed by our family & visitors, only I am of the "Anorak" brigade. It breathed life, your interaction with "Lucky", as you shared your skill, time & hard work, as indeed you always do. Thank you.

    KJB-- what a delightful video you have made here, THANK YOU! In my humble opinion, this is the BEST video of the Talyllyn Ry I have seen, which captures the essence of the Railway (as far as that is possible to do.....). Ken, your exceptionally fine talents with the camera & composition are very obvious...... your love of the steam locomotive & their environments, as well as your love of the natural world really shows, you always include off-track scenery & details which enhance the true atmosphere of this most interesting, beautiful, enchanting & spell-weaving of railways, the wonderful Talyllyn!! From Colorado, a "Life-Long Railroader & Live-Steamer"-- while on a 2-week holiday, exploring NG railways in England & Wales in Sept 2000 (where did those 20 years fly to?....), I had the distinct honor & privilege of enjoying a round-trip Footplate Pass aboard the delightful TR #2 "Dolgoch"-- what an unforgettable treat, now a treasured golden memory!! Your videos always make one feel he is on the journey with you, they rekindle my nostaligic memories, I can almost smell the flowers, foliage, & the coal smoke!!..... and it is nice to see that "Lucky" (and he truly IS!!--) has learned to greatly enjoy the "Rides" & walk-abouts, too!..... THANKS for Sharing & BEST of Steamy Regards!!

      Thankyou for your kind comments, I remember this one well myself as we based ourselves on the railway for the week, in addition I took my mum on this holiday and she rode alongside me on the train ride, it was not worth my life to include he in the film unfortunately.

    This video has really captured the atmosphere of the railway and the countryside well. Brings back many pleasant memories.

    Bluebells, Lucky riding and sniffing to his hearts content, I would pay at a cinema to watch this again. A tour de force of how to capture the escence of this lovely railway, once again the gold standard in film and edit of steam and nature capture.

    A very nicely made movie, well thought out and put together in a way that you can enjoy the sounds of the train but also the countryside. The bloke filling up the coal buckets looks familiar to me. ;)

    One day, Skarloey was taking a train down to the lake. Down the line, he passed Rusty, a little maintenance diesel, while he was fixing and inspecting the line. Skarloey whistled, Rusty tooted in reply, and Skarloey went on his way.

    Excellent video. In my childhood in the 1960s we often holidayed at Llandderfel. I vaguely remember exploring the Talyllyn railway around Abergynolwyn. I recall coming across a dilapidated stone tower which I was told was where they originally lifted and turned the locos around. Out of interest do you know if it is still there.

      i think she sways about anyways, the track’s replaced every few years. she oscillates everywhere it was just more noticeable there. think about it, awdry did write a story called ‘bucking bronco’, and it was about no.1 ;)

    Lovely film where the star attractions should’ve been the engines but lucky somehow stole the show again

    I so wish the TR would introduce radio signalling like on the Ratty! Make things a hell of a lot quicker and easier!

    • @stratman3237
      @stratman3237 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe. But a lot less traditional. And since what the TR offers is a heritage experience, surely tokens fit that experience much better than radios do? If people prefer modern railways there are plenty of them...

    I think loco No.1 Talyllyn and No.2 Dolgoch have been in their current paint jobs much too long, i mean, since 2015
