I wonder sometimes if the reason we've never proved the afterlife is that the people who go looking for ghosts tend to be insufferable. After a lifetime of dealing with various jerks why would you after you have the perfect excuse to avoid them?
@ better yet a giant hotel has a large storage building where they store rotating mattresses. A “ Ghost Hunter” finds it and films a made up session that it is mattresses people died in. Yelling for a long period of time to nothing but mattresses and dust.
I remember when Tyler said that "you sit on your couch, while I go and meet these people, we are not the same" to a 14 year mutual aid veteran, who literally had spent years in downtown Portland and Seattle, every day of his life. Tyler is a TOURIST
I mean, just the levels of degenerate brain rot society destroying grift these people are pumping out is astonishing. Truth means nothing in 2025, the internet has destroyed America's collective brains. It's slop all the way down.
Mark Laita is a SUPER bad dude. PLEASE dive deeper into him and his connection with Amanda Rabb's death and the disappearance of 13yr old Sex Trafficking Victim, Nova. He needs to be exposed.
I liked this and am commenting so hopefully this gets seen. I remember reading something about Mark being a really sketchy dude so I unsubbed from his channel like 2 years ago. I just don’t remember now what he did but what you’re saying rings a bell. Something is def off about him
He definitely thought he was on top of the world when he called out Brent's behavior at the hotel a person who's already despise by everyone. Doesn't he even realize he became Brent when making those over exaggerated thumbnails.
"Mr. Moneybags, you stand accused of fraud on a massive scale, causing thousands of people to lose their jobs and livelihoods. How do you plead?" "Your honour, the defendant says he lives in the prosecution's heads rent free." "Mr Moneybags, you are hereby acquitted."
That comment he left was hilarious, and as a 30 year old with a decent management job, it’s 100% true You know which enemies of mine I spend time thinking about ? None, I forgive them and chase the money. Vince chases money Tylar chases money Vince is still thinking about Tylar 😂
Yeah, Chow using people working themselves to death as a club against the homeless made my blood boil. Had this happen to me a lot in my early life, I worked full time, went to uni at night and did some odd jobs on my supposed off days. Then my boss would go "you should be more like Alex, he got into uni despite working here all day to help his family" to my coworkers. Like, no, I don't want others to live like me. I want a world where no one ever has to experience avoidable hardship. Tough times don't create tough people, it creates traumatized and agonizing people. Americans seem to have this very internalized idea that, if someone gets to their level without experiencing the same or worse, than somehow they are suckers. No wonder they hate trees, probably don't want the kids to get any shade on the streets either.
Glad to be in Australian where 10 years ago, working as a bartender was enough for me to live, travel the world (4 weeks paid vacation here) and buy a car. I hate how the US keeps going the opposite way
that haunted hotel situation has always been fascinating to me because they could have turned it into a really fun collab but instead they just refused to get along and spent the time arguing. a real shame.
I just remember one video I saw, where he was interviewing a dude who's brother was killed by a drug addict, and the dude (shocker) did not blame every drug addict for that and was overall still sympathetic to their cause. Poor Tyler just could not wrap his head around it.
Dude wtf why is that debt company sponsoring TH-camrs. Y’all stop taking these sponsors it’s a “bankruptcy alternative” company that has you default on your debt and then negotiates a repayment plan, something you could do yourself without paying them and will still tank your credit. You can’t address the nuance in an ad.
Yeah idk why youtubers keep taking sponsorships from these sketchy ass companies, I know some of them mean well but I've yet to buy something or use a product from a YT video that was actually as advertised lmao.
Not to mention 99% of people in the situation to be considering these types of debt schemes would be way better off doing an actual bankruptcy. I had to do one last year and it changed my life my credit actually went up the day i got the judgement. There are obviously draw backs and everyone's situation is different but if your considering debt consolidation I personally recommend contacting a reputable bankruptcy attorney.
🤨He shouldn't take the sponsorship because you can do what the debt settlement company does for you on your own? That's silly. We ALL, at some point, pay for companies to offer us convenience. You could pick up (or even make) your own pizza, but I'm sure you've ordered delivery before.
I still don't like Mark from White Underbelly either. He has a shady history of exploiting people in vulnerable situations. He has interviewed a minor girl topless and literally had the uncensored version behind a paywall. He had interviewed someone with drug dependency issues multiple times who was selling their body and that situation is sad. And yes, people have asked to see proof of where donation money has been going and he never shows proof. This is a little bit of it. Edit : Apparently he's "helping" them again
The only reason Mark doesn't look as bad is that the alternative is people like Tyler. Mark is exploitative, but in a classical documentarian sense, and Tyler is a gormless lazy idiot making clickbait for braindead teens who think they're informed.
@nate6045 it really seems like a personal preference to me. Like sure technically I should call myself a recovering addict but it's been 7 years since I left sober living so I don't feel I'm recovering anymore. I know who I am and where I'm at when it comes to addiction and that's very much in the past for me
He's more of an addict than you ever were. Addicted to attention, that and profiteering are the only explanation for his behavior You were exploited, he's a parasite. Stay strong and keep your head high
Biologist here, you can do a pedigree based on genetic data. We use the Coefficient of Inbreeding, which is the probability that a gene from a mother and father came from a common ancestor. Individuals from the Habsburg family had coefficient of inbreeding approaching 0.254 (0.25 means the product of a brother-sister pairing). A coefficient of inbreeding over 0.25 means that the inbred parents were also the product of inbreeding.
Oh yeah, I’d heard about this before. Not because a biologist, though-I’m just a historian who’s a sponge for trivia. Shoutout to my boys Carlos II of Spain and Emperor Ferdinand of Austria!
and they sure were ❤ i guess i'm wondering if or how they got genetic samples from the family mentioned in the video. i watched the original videos and they traced the family lineage through historical documents, not through genetic testing. the family line was splintered off into inbreeding by their great grandmother, who married her first cousin; and then their children married _their_ cousins, who happened to be the children of her twin sister. (or _his_ twin _brother,_ i don't remember which.) i don't know what coefficient that is, but it's definitely not great.
“Biologist here” oh cool, you got the easiest and lowest paying degree possible, but hey, at least you can sound like a soy redditor even on another site! Very cool!
I can't lie. He got me with the Canada video. I thought the injection center was real. What a weirdo. Thank you so much for making this. Many creators get deplatformed for less. He's the real life Nightcrawler (Jake Gyllenhaal movie)
It was a homeless shelter that also allowed open drug use with no repercussions. Virtually the same thing as an "injection center", possibly with even less safeguards.
Actually I lived with these laws and they 100% let them do drugs and give them the drugs, they haven't have injection centers because of how much work it was, so they just let them sell or use away from any shelter or center. Many people died because of homeless people selling weak safe government drugs to gangs and it being cut with fentanyl and sold back to them. I genuinely believe they just wanted to kill homeless people, they didn't even try to rehabilitate anyone. My grandma use to talk to a nice woman people loved, she was safe for over 40 years before these laws. She thought they were government drugs but they were cut by the gangs. I think a lot of the laws they thankfully pulled back on but the damage is done, my boyfriend got offered fentanyl from a man when he was getting snacks one night. I didn't even think people did that for real and it's kinda funny because of that I will admit. My home wasn't good, but it's so much worse, I don't remember hearing gunshots every week like I do now, I heard around 6 not long ago and I think someone died because of the amount of sirens. I use to live with my mom while she was dealing so it's not like I was in a safe place growing up either, yet this is worse.
@@capsulate8642 That's...not how it works. That's not how any of this works. It's not controversial to say that this goes on at homeless shelters. That happens at all of them, regardless of the laws surrounding controlled substances. But not throwing people in jail for it and making sure they're safe while doing it is objectively better than the alternative.
@@capsulate8642essentially no safeguards, homeless centers aren't staffed with medically knowledgeable employees like safe injections sites are. Injection sites will also test the drugs to ensure they are clean, and provide clean needles to lower the risk of infection or ODing. Is it a perfect system? Far from it, but there are more safeguards in place to keep people alive than there were before.
Lots of (but not enough, imo) cities in Canada have made space for trying supervised injection sites, aka places where addicts can use a substance under supervision of dedicated trained volunteers and healthcare professionals. The idea behind this is to provide a safe, monitored environment where they can begin the process of trying to wean off the substance of their addiction and start making moves and connections to improve their lives. Lots of occupational therapists, social workers, nurses, healthcare providers, etc work with and through shelters and safe injection sites to help guide people towards better habits and life outcomes. Then they can start to open the pathway to move into transitional housing, have a roof and an address to provide additional safety and comfort and open employment opportunities, maintain hygiene and dignity, etc. For reference, my city had safe injection sites, but after a provincial election (which changed what part of the political spectrum our government fell on) most if not all safe injection sites were closed, and overdose deaths and homelessness skyrocketed as a result. Vancouver certainly isn't a perfect city, but their continued pursuit of trying to help their homeless individuals and improving their livelihoods is something to be admired in my eyes. I wish my province hadn't taken so many steps back and allowed so many individuals to suffer awful, lonely, exposed deaths. It's incredibly complex and nuanced, so Tyler reducing it down to make a juicy video is so gross to me.
18:30 I hate when content creators do charity drives as attempts at asking for forgiveness. Like bro, _YOU_ fucked up, why am _I_ donating money on your behalf, why can't you give some cash from your pile of TH-cam money?
ngl, it seemed like some attempt at a "gotcha", like "see guys?? we didn't even reach the goal i could have paid entirely, you guys didn't ACTUALLY care about me being wasteful since YOU didn't donate"
when i first came across a tyler oliveria video i enjoyed it, but as i came across more, i realised how propaganda and opinionated they were even though they were meant to be 'journalistic'. im so glad you are covering this because i do not like how they are pushed so much to young minds
I had a similar experience when I tried to watch two of Tyler's videos back to back, and the videos seemed, somehow, faker, with only the goal to dehumanize and to profit, while Tyler seemed more extreme.
I only recently started watching his videos for background noise and I thought it was interesting. Now seeing past the veil it’s obvious that he’s only in it for the money
Same!! I was in a rabbit hole of videos about travel, culture and other interesting topics like that. A lot of Vice videos and stuff. I quickly came across Tyler's videos on the sidebar and decided to watch them. I was extremely interested in the topics themselves, but Tyler was rubbing me the wrong way. There was just something so off about him. I could immediately tell the type of person he was just based on the way he talked and the context clues in the video. This was genuinely the quickest I've ever subscribed and unsubscribed to someone's channel before.
@rosiedesigns89 people say he’s only in it for the money, and while i believe he’s definitely in for that, I’m also extremely certain he’s also trying to be the starting point of an alt right pipeline. His collaboration with people self identifying as being alt right and the way he promotes having absolutely 0 sympathy for those suffering is absolutely trying to feed naive people down a pipeline of conservatism to far right to alt right.
Very true. I'm pretty sure they make those claims based on LD50 numbers, which would only make sense if the person had little to no prior use of whatever drug killed em. Years ago when my ex and I were addicts, he did a hair test for something and was told he had "8 times the lethal amount of hydrocodone in his system" yet he was very much alive. But when you take 80-100mg of hydro on an average day, it would take an insanely high dose to actually die from. Not to mention other factors like weight, body fat percentage, metabolism, the list goes on. Maybe one day coroners will take these other things into consideration.
@smurph13 The fact that a doctor said that to him really bothers me, for the exact reasons you discussed - it is more nuanced then that. I think doctors or counselors who say that sort of thing are trying to scare people into sobriety, but 1) it's pretty damn hard to do that and 2) it could have the opposite effect and make someone feel invincible and thus use more recklessly. Anyway, I myself am also in recovery and this sort of stuff bothers me. I think people might be surprised how honesty and nuance are understood and appreciated by most people.
i couldn’t agree more. i’m an alcoholic and after just a few years i was pretty regularly in the .3 territory, which for many can lead to death or at minimum hospitalization, but i was completely functioning, able to talk, remember things, etc. after being to a couple rehabs i’ve learned that your body naturally creates more enzymes & faster functions to process substances in anticipation leading to a higher tolerance. i.e if someone without the enzymes i naturally produced more of due to my drinking, drank the amount that i drank on a random wednesday it would be pretty bad news for them lol
Thank god people are starting to expose this guy, I remember seeing Thought Slime's video on him and feeling like I was crazy that nobody else was pushing back
Yeah, I was just shocked nobody else decided to actually take a look back at how insane Tyler had become since that Brent drama, even moreso that nobody else beyond Thought Slime and Vince had went ahead to call him out until now.
Boy Boy did a reaction video to one of TO homelessness videos. As Australians who had visited the US for their robot gun dog video (which earnt them the eternal hatred of a lot of gun youtube) and found a lot of things which are normal in the US shocking (they can sell their blood? And some people just sell their blood REGULARLY? Their actual blood? That they need to not pass out?) Including the state of the streets over there I really liked their reaction. Thoughtslime went over the credentials and philosophy of TO plus his "experts" while Boy Boy went in on how unlikely it is that people just have Mad Max looking weaponry around and how it looks like the homeless people are *returning* the nail festooned club to him instead of *gifting* it. How unlikely it is that the guy who went through the houses being squatted in noted how flammable it was and then was the first guy on the scene with a video camera when it went up in flames the next day. How gross it is to go into other peoples homes, even if that home is a tent, and judge them. But after them stuff on TO did just drop off and that was extremely weird
Tyler is the guy that would ask, "Is Carbon Monoxide Poisoning unaliving Americans? Should we Burn the Rain Forests down since they create the most CO2? I interviewed people that make their living cutting down the rain forest and no one else because I have no bias."
@@OrgaNik_Music you mean to the instances he inferred tyler was a racist with no definitive proof but pure speculation? i watched his 49 min vid and his 25 min appearance here, both arguments were dismantled in tylers response vid, id suggest watching it with an open mind to get both sides and ALL the way through
Thank you for doing the bit on Tommy Robinson - the mythologising of Tommy amongst the international far right has been insane. All the grooming gang data that tommy cites and Tyler regurgitates is easily debunk-able in the first page of google. Great job on this one mate!
Yeah, it's true. We had to deal with some Tommy Robinson supporters trying to start shit all the way out here in San Francisco and Berkeley back in 2017 (but of course, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we VASTLY outnumbered them and quickly crushed their little gathering). Seriously, anybody who has any association with, affinity for, or influence from that POS is definitely also a massive POS.
I used to live right next to that "Civil War museum" in Kennesaw, GA. That ain't even almost the "the deep South", it's in a suburb of Atlanta and that anachronistic eyesore is a blight on its otherwise lovely downtown area. he makes it sound like it's tucked away in some rural nook untouched by progress lol. there's an overpriced burger boutique across the street, dude.
I used to work in Kennesaw. When I saw that Tyler video, I was like wtf is he talking about. Kennesaw is a nice suburb of Atlanta and he was talking about it like the silly gun law that no one cares about saved it from going to hell

I was scrolling for a while to find a comment about that. It made me furious, and I don't even have any sort of connection to addiction. But christ, that was so vile and inhumane.
Couldn't be happier that we are finally talking about this guy. As someone who works in Canada heavily with the drug user and homeless population, it was infuriating that this guy was going viral spreading misinformation talking about where me and my coworkers work our asses off trying to help. When his Vancouver video came out, we were livid seeing something like this, especially because we are in such a politically dividing time, and British Columbia (our province) is so vast that people that live outside of the area could be making voting decisions that are based on this video when budget cuts of injection sites and ALL healthcare services could be affected. I'm all for people having different political opinions and voting differently than me, but they should be based on factual information. Most injection and smoking sites aren't just for overdoses and clean needles. They are the boots on the ground that are connecting those populations to rehabilitation centres, crisis centres for abuse, have rent funds for people on the cusp of homelessness, and connecting people to hundreds of resources and housing. We also are the people that are checking in on untracked people. If someone hasn't shown up for food like they usually do every day, WE are out there on the streets and going through shelters to make sure they're okay. Honestly, the best part about these jobs for the workers is the social aspect where we have regular conversations with people that are constantly treated like shit from the general public. Once again, it is so incredibly fine for people to have different opinions as me. I actually love having conversations with people that disagree with my job and career, even when we don't find a common ground. It just seems like bare minimum for the general public to be educated CORRECTLY on why we have these resources, what we do in them, and the history on how these areas got to the situation we are in.

42:49 I've seen these sorts of anti-homeless rhetoric quite a bit, that "homeless people are homeless by choice". It is a lot more difficult for homeless people to get jobs compared to someone who has a house, but that reality isn't considered when profit incentive favours gouging the housing market. So, instead of addressing a systemic and societal problem, pundits alienate homeless people, presenting them as lazy, selfish, entitled, drug-abusing and, sometimes, inhuman, because if homeless people are considered pests, not people, authorities are free to strongarm homeless people, and the rich can keep getting richer.
Not defending individuals, but homeless advocates do note and focus on that there are some homeless people who are homeless "by choice" and that needs to be recognized for effective care. The "choice" can be more like becoming homeless rather than seeking treatment, so it's less "choice" in that it's a thing they love, and more "choice" in that they prefer it to the alternatives. Yet again, one of the victims of this kind of lazy sensationalism is the inability to pick this stuff apart and seriously consider it
Addicts are in addiction by choice. You cannot tell me the 15 people sitting there overdosing on fentanyl in a HOMELESS SHELTER, because they’ve been stuck in the same spot in life because we in Vancouver has ENABLED them too live this way while actively destroying our own living standards for it. They need forced rehabilitation. Not free drugs and entire city blocks too destroy. Safe injection sites increase crime, homeless encampments increase crime, and were legally not allowed too arm or defend ourselves. It’s ridiculous and if it doesn’t change soon, BC will be completely destroyed. They need facilities where they are monitored and put into for 12 months too go through withdrawal, so we can stop destroying society by allowing them too kill and loot and be released right back into the streets. And these shelters and “ safe “ injection sites ONLY make it worse, you give them a public place nearby working people too actively infest and openly use the drugs that are kicking themselves. That is not self, that is hatred.
I believe you but I hadn't heard about this. I've only half considered looking into them in the past, can you explain how they're scams or point me to where i can find out more? I'm curious

Side Note: Whilst you engage their services, you stop any payments and begin having them act as the go between. During this time, events can happen (such as too many missed payments etc) which may lead to further legal action by the creditors or the state (basically accusing you of dodging debt, which is illegal). Not exactly something one has time for in those situations 🤦🏻♀️ It's such a nonsensical, hate-fueled stance that she clearly hasn't conceptualized past "once you're an adult, addiction is your fault and you don't deserve to survive it." It's so gross how casually some people can be about throwing away the lives of those struggling.
Tyler's videos on homelessness and drug addiction has always left me uneasy as a criminology student who studies these issues on a daily basis (Vancouver one especially rubbed me the wrong way as a Canadian). They've done nothing but beat on populations who are already stigmatized and it's sentiment like this that prevents real progress from being made since it reinforces peoples' ideas about drug users and homeless people
I saw a few of them and they always felt like there's an interesting and worthwhile thing to consider here but instead he films miserable people and goes "isn't this CRAZY GUYS"
its really weird seeing comments defending tyler or discrediting what youre saying because they dislike you or have issue with one aspect or another. you can dislike somebody or have issues with certain things, but it doesnt discredit the overall message of whats being said. im just gonna say that maybe the guy who doesnt ask people if he can film them, doesnt censor people overdosing or tripping but does censor the drugs, has a history of clout chasing and grifting on youtube, and portrays a practical confederate shrine and memorabilia shop with a klan shrine as just... a southern antique store... isnt a good journalist.
He's definitely a grifter, but he's not "right wing", he just does whatever will get him seen. He has no conviction, except maybe his hatred of addicts which is not a core conservative view. Kinda like the heads of Fox News; they don't believe anything the station puts out, they just do whatever they think will get them views. *If you're on the left, I'm sure this is surprising to hear that conservatives have the same views about Fox as you. Also, I don’t think Tyler is this only one going about these “journalism” videos in the same manner. I’ve been seeing it more often in true crime and police footage where everyone is trying to capitalize off of the drama rather than focusing on raising legal or moral questions and conversations.
I only ever watched one of his video about going to "the most racist-town in America" and something felt a little off, when I looked at the comments I saw it instantly, as the commenters said the quiet part out loud. Every comment was three things, 1. claiming that there were no racists, 2. fairplay he's honest (as if being honest about being racist, is a virtue) and 3. people agreeing with the people in the video.
Jesus. I will give him the smallest credit, that this video covering him made me remember how disconnected I, as part of the upper middle class, am from the destitute. Really reaffirmed the belief that the poorest among us have a life to live as the most well-off.
It's almost as if showing racism without showing pushback against said racism for the sake of 'an unbiased look' just creates a safe space for racists! Hmm.
Thank-you for covering this racist clown. As a Black woman, I'm SICK watching Tyler's continued anti-Blackness be spinned as, "journalism." He stereotypes my people, makes anti-Black thumbnails with AI for his videos, and upholds racist narratives about my community. He also uses poor people for content & watching that unfold in so many of Tyler's videos is also reprehensible. Thanks for calling this out!
OOOH you don’t know HOW MUCH I’ve been wanting MORE people to finally take shots at Tyler. He’s been spreading some really vile stuff online with his racist AI thumbnails and inflammatory rhetoric (and he’s started going fully right-wing too based on tweets). @@adamgonzalez9650literally NO ONE said they were, not Vincent, not J Aubrey, not anyone criticising Tyler. What they're saying is that he's massively exaggerating about how unsafe or horrible some places are, sometimes outright lying, to fit his agenda. That's NOT what a real journalist does. And I'm not talking about any TV presenter, but actual journalism, where you talk about what you truly see, whether you like it or not.
As someone from the American South I'd be the first to tell you we need to get better at addressing our racist past, I hate this recent fear mongering regarding critical race theory. But there's a difference between a museum run by people who collect things to show our racist past and platforming a local store owner who sells confederate flags and promotes racism towards Black people
What pisses me off is ive never been hurt or attacked by a homeless person. In fact in most cities I've lived in they were known for protecting nearby residents. One guy was known as the homeless batman because he carried a switchblade to scare off anyone who tried to rob drunk college students. Everyone I knew gave him food and cash whenever they saw him. On the other hand I've been harassed by rich people who look like this fucker plenty. Pissed on, threatened, etc. I used to work a service job and one guy came back from clearing a homeless camp. He was pissed so he decided to take it out on me by trying to hit me because I told him he had to leave. When security came he ran away screaming about how much money he pays.
I volunteer at a shelter and soup kitchen - now granted the types that frequent them tend to not be the severely mentally ill, but I've never had an issue. I've had a few run ins with some at night when I'm walking home from a bar or club, but nothing more than then just being annoying and loud. Granted they CAN cause problems, but the violent crime rate among the unhoused isn't significantly different than the general population - and I've had plenty of run-ins with non-homeless while out drinking with friends.
I assume it's a matter of spite. Anti-intellectualism is pretty much linked to distrust and disillusion in authority, emotional immaturity in the case of these types like Oliver

I never really comment on anything on TH-cam but I’m very glad that you made this video. Having lived in the uk for the last 6 years, his video glorifying Tommy Robinson, depicting him as this wrongly vilified hero of free speech quite literally blew my mind
i mean he didn't depict tommy as anything, he just let tommy speak and showed facts. if you think that's how tommy looks in the video, then that's because that's how you see him truly, without any bias. tommy has been screwed over for free speech, that's a fact, and he has shown how the government treats people differently based on politics and ethnics, some things he may do wrong or go to far but its not Tyler's fault. you people never like both sides to have a voice. And as someone who has lived in the UK my entire life i can say for sure us English agree with most things that tommy says.
@ConnorCutt Speak for yourself dude. I'm in the UK and most people I talk to heavily disagree with his statements. Considering the sort of damage those sorts of claims can do and have done I am not surprised he's been punished.

I'm a Journalism major, and this guy's ethics have ALWAYS rubbed me the wrong way. The way he interviews is inaccurate at best, completely exploitative at worst.
At best he points and goes "damn that's crazy", at worst he spreads harmful and bigoted misinformation. How anyone can consider that journalism let alone investigative journalism is beyond me. He seeks engagement at all costs and nothing else, he's a youtuber through and through.

@ He was also propped up by think tanks or something in order to "appeal to the youth". J aubrey's vid on him was hilarious, Crowder rapping to nothing but a crowd of old ladies. All of these guys have no motion on their own, they need outside money
I'm not sure what Tim's personal politics were during 2011, but I feel like the difference between Tim in 2011 and Tyler now is that Tim was doing something that can be considered groundbreaking and raw. Was Tim always just intending to grift and exploit without caring? Idk. Would what I call what he did back then "real journalism"? Idk, I haven't seen that Livestream, I just know he sorta pioneered and popularized a then new form of journalism techniques that got him a job at Vice and his initial popularity. But I can't deny that what Tim did caused a snowball effect to people like Tyler, where now stuff is much more highly edited and people like him go into situations with a story in mind, which Tim also did with some of his own projects.
I live in Vancouver and the video tyler made infuriated me. It's incredibly exploitative. Going into our Downtown Eastside can be a shocking thing to witness, especially if you've never been around it, but if you go into that area people largely leave you alone. Not everyone will be comfortable in our DTES, but it's not really how he portrayed it either. It's a small area of a city with 2 million people. It just happens to have a high density of people with addictions and mental health issues. The decriminalization of drugs is one of many harm reduction measures available in Vancouver. I'm not saying that drug abuse isn't an issue here, just that the video completely lacked empathy or nuance
I grew up in Peterborough, ON which also has a bad drug and homelessness problem and this is definitely the case with us too. The Downtown Centre certainly isn't nice by any means, but if you're just passing through while keeping to yourself then nothing's gonna happen to you. We owned a shop in that area for years and hardly had any problems. These dickheads coming into our communities just want to paint all the downtrodden people as braindead savage menaces to society, then have the gull to turn around and say they're "just trying to help them" when it's quite obvious what they're actually doing. They have no clue what it's like to live in these communities and to see all the various nuances to how these people live and how these situations actually work; they just want to LARP as armchair activists who "work against the establishment", all while pushing the exact same anti-working-class rhetoric that every establishment politician has been pushing since the dawn of time.
@canada3375 we've had drug issues for YEARS. Something about an insanely high cost of living, a minimum wage that up until the federal increases a few years ago was the LOWEST in the country, the 3rd highest population in Canada, insanely high rent prices and other housing crises concerns, and the fact some drugs were made MORE harmful by lacing it with more addictive and more harmful drugs, like fentanyl, will DO that. Decriminalization (which ISNT legalisation) is, in fact, a harm reduction technique that can lead to lower drug deaths and even, in time, lower addiction rates in general. Turns out people will ask for help if they don't think they'll be arrested on the spot for the thing they need help for. Go fucking figure.

Not to mention 99% of people in the situation to be considering these types of debt schemes would be way better off doing an actual bankruptcy.

It was never about anything for him. His channel is merely.a tool to separate you from your hard earned money. That's Tyler's entire shtick

Same reason big corps and celebrities tell people like you and me we gotta work on "OUR" carbon footprint lol
ngl, it seemed like some attempt at a "gotcha", like "see guys?? we didn't even reach the goal i could have paid entirely, you guys didn't ACTUALLY care about me being wasteful since YOU didn't donate"
when i first came across a tyler oliveria video i enjoyed it, but as i came across more, i realised how propaganda and opinionated they were even though they were meant to be 'journalistic'. im so glad you are covering this because i do not like how they are pushed so much to young minds
I had the same experience, I had to stop watching cause it was getting uncomfortable
When people say "X times the lethal limit of fentanyl," I dont think they understand how drug tolerance and dependence works.
I'm prescribed 70mg of methadone every day, the lethal dose is around 50mg, tolerance exists lol
Thank god people are starting to expose this guy, I remember seeing Thought Slime's video on him and feeling like I was crazy that nobody else was pushing back

as always, mildred thoughtslime is a trendsetter

I've seen these sorts of anti-homeless rhetoric quite a bit, that "homeless people are homeless by choice".

Side Note: Whilst you engage their services, you stop any payments and begin having them act as the go between. During this time, events can happen (such as too many missed payments etc) which may lead to further legal action by the creditors or the state (basically accusing you of dodging debt, which is illegal).

Tyler's videos on homelessness and drug addiction has always left me uneasy as a criminology student who studies these issues on a daily basis (Vancouver one especially rubbed me the wrong way as a Canadian).
I live here too. had no issue with his video. we are having a drug problem. look up the stats. numbers don't lie. lol
