I accidentally removed some comments from this video thinking that they would only be removed from my notifications, not from all of youtube, so sorry to whomever I did that :/
I've installed openbsd approximately 5 months ago, I went with xmonad, tried a few, cwm is good too, would like to learn a bit of emacs, my laptop is always on , I managed to encrypt the drive before the installation of the os, I like it for the security reasons as well, I sleep better, it's a cool and simple os, so much to learn, wish i started decades ago, learning stuff from here too, thanks.
Glad to help! I’ve got a couple emacs videos you might want to check out too. I’ve been using OpenBSD for about 5 years; it’s pretty easy to pick up if you’re willing to read some man pages
@@chatterman3148 I have 27.2 as well. If you don’t see any melpa packages in M-x list-packages, you probably need to follow the instructions at melpa.org/#/getting-started I only have 4 or so packages that are only compatible with emacs 28
I’ve always heard OpenBSD is slow for desktop use. I like the idea of a more compact and monolithic OS, but OpenBSD’s installer kernel panics on my laptop. It’s really odd. I’ve installed everything from FreeBSD to gentoo on that machine, OpenBSD is the only one I’ve had issues with.
No, I haven’t. I managed to hack my .Xdefaults to make my xterm work with my keyboard config, and hacked copy/paste into tmux as well, so I’m back to using a non-emacs terminal.
Yeah, I'm not a professional developer so I don't know what it would be missing, but I haven't noticed any development software missing for my personal use.
No, I have dreams of building my own keyboard, including PCB design and custom firmware, so the atmel pdf is for the latter. PCB is mostly done but still working on the firmware, which has kinda been put on the back burner since starting this channel.
@@godnyx117 I think openbsd good for sysadmin and not good for web dev because it don't have many app for web dev. ex: electron app(vscode), conntainer( docker)...
Very nice video. Always nice to find a new to me OpenBSD youtuber out there. I especially appreciated the analysis of the init system code.

Thanks for this demonstration! Your desktop configuration (4 with 4 each) is very creative; I may try to implement something similar myself.
Thanks! I'm going to have my config files available on github.com/ccwaddey soon if you want to give my config a shot.

what font/color/terminal are you using? looks great
Have you tried vterm? I prefer it over shell, eshell, and terminal

Thank god Linux has too many distributions, just imagine what the "one ultimate distribution for everyone" would look like! XD
openbsd is very minimal but it missing many software with developer :(

You mean "developer" packages? If yes then what is missing? I thought OpenBSD was supposed to be the best OS for programmers.
