that would be me if I ever get my g3 ponies back from my old house, I moved back in 2013 but I never got them for whatever reason, I only have at least 5 with me currently. the house is still vacant and the landlord (my aunt) only just started to fix the house up not that long ago, she wouldn't let my mom go get the rest of our stuff so all of my ponies are probably gonna get thrown away.

@@unixornprince Aw, that is so sad! My G1 Ponies disappeared sometime over the last 30+ years and I have no idea what happened to them. I'm slowly building my collection back up through generous friends and eBay!

I got into so much trouble for breaking mine but I wasn't playing roughly.
I had so many ponies as a child in the 80’s. I even took them in the swimming pool. 😂
Fabric softener as a conditioner instead of human hair conditioner works amazing at restoration! X
For the Pony "Cancer" spots, try using Arm & Hammer Whitening Toothpaste. I did this for a Thrift Store haul on some G1's awhile back.
1. Clean the Pony as best as possible. If it is damp to the touch that is fine.
2. Apply the tooth paste to the area.
3. Let it sit for 3 minuets. (In this time I just apply it to other toys till there is no more to apply to.)
4. Then go back and with your thumb nail try to lightly scratch against the surface where the spot it.
5. Rinse, Repeat Till spot is gone.
I found that this toothpaste in particular works best because of the Baking Soda and Peroxide in the paste. I also use this for Littlest Pet shop toys that I find at the Flea market since they have a great turn around on Ebay. I tried Magic erases, not too wowed by them but they do a decent job. A thing of A&H toothpaste is anywhere from 3 - 5 bucks but I have used one tube on well over 50 toys and it is still at 3/4ths from being finished.

I actually used to love MLP as a little boy! I never got any toys though, because of course when you're a kid you cant get everything you want and need to prioritize, and at the end of the day as much as I loved ponies I still chose stuff like Ghostbusters and Toxic Crusaders. :P

I agree I love your reaction when you found your box of ponies. I still search for them at flea markets/thrift stores. I have all of mine from when I was little too. I promised my daughter I’d show her all of my old ponies and I busted them all out last night. I love them still so much. I found one that had the pony cancer and it breaks my heart seeing it in that condition. I swear I will fix her! At least I’ll try! Thanks for posting this ❤️

I have kept my ponies as I feel like they will be really rare eventually, I like spotting them occasionally in thrift stores, like a find! They also remind me of my childhood. I have a lot of the same ones you do, I recognized applejack and surprise right away.

thank you for the video, you make it look easier then it seems. I just started rebuilding my childhood G1 herd and my Sweetstuff who just came today has brown spots with darker spots in it. Btw your childhood collection is just gorgeous!
I have used Armorall car plastic cleaning wipes on mine and it works really well for dirt and stains!

My childhood was the 3rd generation MLP but I'm actually trying to get some 1st generation (used) ones because they are so lovely. Probably my favorite style out of all generations. Your video really helped me a lot! Thank you :)

Thank you for posting this video! I just found my My Little Ponies and think I went through the same feelings you did. I just found this in a desperate search to see the best way to remove the brown gross coating some of them have, and I wasn’t sure if there would be much hope. I had never heard of “pony cancer” before now but I think Gusty and Misty have it here. My mom always used Soft Scrub to try and clean stains off of them when I was little, but it could do only so much-I will try your suggestions and am very hopeful I can revive them!
When my step mom moved into our house with my dad, she started cleaning things out. I told her my ponies were up in the attic somewhere and if she came across them I would like to have them back. She found them and threw them in the trash anyway. She said it was because they were molded. But I think it's because she enjoyed hurting me and doing things out of spite. I had a HUGE collection of ponies. I probably could have cleaned them up and restored them.

Give me the Gen 1 My Little Ponies. The new ones they have on TV now just totally suck! I mean they don't look anything whatsoever like 'ponies'. More like some dorks attempt to anime-ize them. major gag. I loved this video. Wish I still had my ponies. My niece had them while she was growing up and you know how kids are. A bit bummed but at least she got to enjoy them, dressing them up, and all.

So i just got my vintage ponies out of storage, and my Whizzer has a really big problem! Her head has discolored in a darker shade than the body and kinda shrinked?!?! She also has some small random spots in the same color as the discolored head. Is there any solutions for at least the discolor in her head?

you got rose dust omg I want her so badly XD she's my favourite and Fizzy :3 only g1's I have are second hand and lucky all are in a pretty decent conditions, but 2 could do with a full mane/tail replacement. There's sadly no way i could ever get the tangle out of those manes, I also learned a way to replace the wings for Flutter ponies, you'll need a palstic bottle and there are templates online you can find. Print a temptale and cut the plastic bottle in half, then use the template to cut out the wings of the bottle halves. then you could decroate the wings or keep them as is. There's also a woman who makes replacement flutter wings apparently
Any suggestions for removing Sharpie from the pony's plastic body?
Anyone can answer this: How do i get rid of faint dirt like stain and the scuff like marks on fizzy green/blue colored pony? Does magic eraser wet work or does it leave more weird smudge marks? Thanks!

Can I ask how you would clean a scented pony? I assume just hot soapy water, oxy clean would be too strong I would think.

This will help me with my sweetscent cotton candy (pink unicorn, blue and white ringlet hair) as she is sunfaded and has rust and pen mark. I'm not sure about boiling my Sunlight, though...

Dawn . . worked good for general overall cleaning and easily removed wipe away stains. Magic erasure I found was nice to clear the human gunky funk off the ponies, but did not remove deep stains like permanent marker etc. . . Oxy-clean worked very well with getting the deeper stains out. I had to scrub like hell, but eventually got some permanent marker stains out and deeper brown stains. However . . did not seem to bring the overall vibrance back like I was wanting (although the ponies look great compared to what they were before I used your tips)? Got anymore tips on cleaning that you have tried or how to use the above substance in different way that you have fun since posting this video? Perhaps it's just the ponies overall vibrance themselves has dwindled over the years and maybe it is something that cannot be brought back? Also, have you let your ponies soak in the oxy-clean for hours? Will letting them soak for long periods of time in oxy-clean remove the paint on their symbols? Thoughts?

Can someone help me out? A friend of mine recently found all of her old MLPs, including a g1 Starshine. The pink hair on the top of her hair was cut, so I pulled the little hairs out. I can replace it later. The biggest problem however, is the fact that her whole body is stained yellow. I was considering sun restoration, but I heard that that doesn't work on Starshine for some reason, and burns her instead. I've tried zit cream, whitening toothpaste, and general scrubbing, and nothing has worked. What should I do? Please help me!

I'm not positive as i have never done it -I'd guess it would depend on the glue they used. I would refer you to the my little pony preservation project- they suggest dipping dental floss, sewing cotton, or thread in nail polish remover or acetone, and using it to saw at the neck seam. You can also apply heat with a hair dryer or boiling water to weaken the glue and also soften the vinyl. Just be really careful not to rip the vinyl.
