I've not been touching any 3d modeling tools since 2016 when I was stopped working with 3Ds Max. And now this is my first approach to the new product like Shapr3D on iPad. And I easly followed you in this tutorial -- everything was clearly explained. And the real woodwork at the end was a great ending. I'm glad with my resalut too. Thanks!
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen about Shapr3D! Explained clearly and simply in a pleasant voice! I would love more videos like this! Keep up the good work! 😃
I have been using Shapr3D for around a year on PC, but you inspired me to get an iPad to use it on, and boy I’m glad I did! It really makes the software come alive.
Another great walkthrough. Thank you so much. Ive tried to apply parametric modelling to creating a basic cube using 2x4 structure, but so far not having any luck. It still feels very complicated.
Can you go over how to "properly" export a design to an SVG for Shaper Origin use? I have tried for a table leg using their instructions and only get a straight line in Shaper Studio.
Hello, fantastic video! I think the 2nd “bug” is because you didn’t constrain the angles when you corrected the bottom and top face of the leg to the same angle you rotated the leg with. What do you think?
starting a carpentry business to build custom built in units I tried blender and SketchUp but I'm liking the look of this most thank you for all the insight and knowledge. just wondering what iPad your using I feel like it looks much easier than on a desktop, also do you think there ever would be a cut list add on created? thanks for everything!
I’m an old cabinet maker and have always drawn my plans when I worked. How is this program for designing cabinets. The way you present and the explanation you do for each is step is wonderful and easy to follow
Thanks for this video. I tried following along with your first one on parametric but got bogged down. This one seems more straightforward but I'm still going to have to watch it a couple times to get it! I like your approach to teaching and have always enjoyed your videos. Thanks for what you do and keep up the good work!
Thank you! Yeah I hoped this one will be easier to follow along. Parametric modeling is hard and will need to get some time to get used to. But it’ll get better with practice
Thank you for another well done video. Your teaching ability is bringing the parametric method of modeling to life for me. You are very much appreciated!
Thanks for a great tutorial. This is very helpful to me as I work to become proficient with Shaper 3D. I especially liked your logical approach and progression through the design.
I enjoy watching your videos even though my English is weak. It's just that neither my MAC nor my iPad works like you do! I have already written to technical support with no response. I can't create a new sketch plan on the same layer. Do you have any advice? Otherwise great job and thank you very much. Peter from Brno
YES good beginner video. I have been using the new version for a while. Along side the old version. But I tried to use the new version as I would the other standard version and I see I was doing it al wrong. Also I was snuggling at trying to get things in my designs to line up. And scale with each other. Because I did not understand construction plains and constants. Will go and try!
Check out my video on designing the media console for now. I evenly spaced 24 slats for a door. I will be making more detailed tutorials next year specifically on different tasks and tools
I’m wanting to change from SketchUp on my Mac to shapr3d on an iPad. What iPad would you recommend can I get away with a cheaper model or is it best to buy a pro? Or even a second hand older pro?
Very cool tutorial, thanks for the inspiration! In reference to the "bug" you discussed when extruding the top piece, I wonder if creating the plane through a point instead of the object face would help? It seems like there would be different scenarios where including the geometry form the other pieces may be useful.
Just out of curiosity, since I use the iPad with a keyboard, I have become accustomed to using shift to select multiple specific things. Is the Apple Pencil capable of selecting multiple things? I don’t mean the selection tool since it doesn’t work if objects overlap
I am using the latest version of Shapr3d and I am following along drawing this stool. When drawing the seat I have to select all parts as you did but I cannot select the centre. When I extrude I am left with a rectangular hole in the centre of the seat.
Loved the tutorial all the way up to the 20 min mark. Can't get the circle to extrude under the stretcher. Something to do with the previous extrusion attaching to the right leg and the face replacement to the left. If anyone else has run into this and fixed it, I'd love to know.
Hey Alex. I’m following along and got to the point where you made a second sketch on the same plane as the first. Are you using the version from Dec 1 in this video? Because mine just calls it a sketch in the item list and when I turn it off, select the face of the leg, and try and add a second sketch, it just goes back to the original sketch instead of adding a second sketch plane just like it does in the non beta version
@@BevelishCreations I'm using the beta (according to the info it's ver 5.520.0.6147) and I'm having the same issue (ipad). Clicking on the face of the leg and entering sketch just goes to sketch 1 and does not open a new sketch. Is there perhaps a setting somewhere that toggles this?
@@BevelishCreations I don't know if it's a bug or not, but if I start drawing (I just drew a line), the "Sketch 02" appears. It did not appear for me until I started drawing.
Thanks for your effort and time this is driving me crazy on the initial part I have drawn the shape however when I go to re size it to 300/300 and then 83 on the corners it like morphs and jumps out of the corner of left view and is no longer aligned I am using the iPad version please help me
Does this do CAM as well? Or just the design side? I see you did get these designs onto your CNC. Did Shaper3d do that or did you need another piece of software to generate the GCode?
shapr3D is only for design uses. You can export the file and use another program for CNC. You’ll get different opinions, but I prefer Shapr3D over Sketchup, it’s much more intuitive to use
@@BevelishCreations Awesome thank you. I have never used any type of program but your videos have inspired me. I will look into it more. Thank you very much!!
this is one quality tutorial! honestly, you should be replacing current Shapr3d's tutorial maker! it might be a tricky one, but a video on resolving problems when bodies don't interact with each other would be awesome.
About the bug in the beta version with the changing of the seat size. Do you guys think it could be fixed by extruding down the legs one choose replace face tool? Trying to get my head around parametric modeling and see if I got it right.
It seems like it's been a while since they updated from Shapr3D beta. Not long after this video was released, they really haven't released any updates.
Excellent step-by-step guide on using the parametric modeling in the application! Much better than others infer seen. Interested to know the steps involved from completion of the model in Shapr3D to the appropriate exporting to Fusion and the CNC parameters. (The video jumps from the completed model to the CNC.) BTW, the steps provided in your video at th-cam.com/video/5Cpum7tniyg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5Edac1SMZTtM6O4B are helpful in exporting for Fusion.
Thanks! Yeah I used the same way to export to fusion, and just used 2D Pocket and a 2D Contour toolpaths to cut things out and I used default parameters for my bits
1 year later, all these tutorials need to be completely redone, as way too many things have changed, and I found myself getting more and more confused and frustrated, as I have to figure out where these features have moved to. I'm not sure why these tutorials are still being linked to directly from the official software. I don't think I will be doing any more tutorials that aren't recent.
I’m 10 minutes in, I’ve been using Shapr3D on & off for a while, and I’ve already learned some cool tips from this video that I will be trying out!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m a big fan of your channel! I just bought my first 3D printer because of some of your videos 😊
