How did you route your air box breather line? When i bought my quad the previous owner had it ghetto rigged with a fine mesh material. I was thinking about putting a small filter on it. Also on a 80 degree dunes ride how hot do your temps usually get with running no fan? I just got my kickstart harness back from 38 motorsport with no accessories except hard wired brake light and am wondering if no rad fan is a mistake 😂.
Austin are you talking about the crank case breather hose that’s in the rear by the radiator over flow? If so I just have it ending right in front of the radiator overflow under the subframe. Some of my buddy’s I ride with have a filter on the end but I don’t run one, as far as running no fan I don’t either and temps going with the wind can hit 200° on a hot day, going against the wind it hovers at 170-180°, just get a good inline temp gauge and put it on the left side which is your hottest point in the loop and watch your temps while in the trees doing tree shots or riding with the wind at your back. The stock fan doesn’t come on until 220-225° anyways and the stock outer water pump seal is good for up to 235°-250° I can’t remember which one but I have blown one once letting it idle in the trees with no wind and hammering in it doing tree shots but it’s a easy swap if you do. And the pros are not having all that clutter under your bike.
@@austinwaller9012 yes sir a big group of us will be at windy bay June 4-7th if your around come out we’re staying in a few lots at Discovery pointe By the back of the condos near the new dune access road!
joey buckingham i got one more question for now lol. Do you know if there is a price difference between the regular bead to bead buff and SLS super light buff?
@@austinwaller9012 no worries, yes the SLS are the most expensive, B2B are in the middle for price and standard buff is the “cheapest” option, the only difference between B2B and SLS is lighter and price. I run B2B on my normal paddle but I do have a set of gliders that are SLS that I run in St. Anthony’s Idaho, my next set I will get all SLS
@John Johnson thanks I put a lot of time and effort into building it, the only thing that’s still stock from the original bike is the frame everything else has been a aftermarket part or new
Do you have any other social media. I have a few questions i am currently doing a 480cc build, kickstart conversion and long travel, extended swingarm.
@ Austin Waller hey man no I don’t do social media just post some videos on TH-cam, if you have any questions just ask away if I can help in any way I will.
joey buckingham did you gut your harness? With the route i am going i wont need radiator fan, dash lights, starter or battery for that matter. I am doing everything myself including the motor work but i think i should just have someone do it to guarantee it will work properly
@@austinwaller9012 I did I had a “cut” harness made for me as I don’t run any of that stuff either except the starter, it clears up a ton of unnecessary wiring. What motor build are you going with?
joey buckingham i have already built my motor. I did a complete oem bottom end(including gears,bearings and shift forks/levers) athena 480 cylinder, CP 98mm piston, ported head, stock cams(i just learned about the cam mod so i will be doing that during my rebuild)
Very nice build! I have a few questions: A) How often do you rebuild the Fox Shocks? B) How many hours between top rebuilds for you? C) When I get my next R we should ride sometime. I live in Reesport :D
@Cody L A) I have had them rebuilt once in 2017 the seals were blown on my fronts B)did a new poison and rings at 40hrs and all new beings while in there C) anytime I’m actually headed to Coos bay for the weekend of August 2/3/4(Friday Sunday) let me know if you want to come down and ride!
@john Johnson, we are all going to coos bay this weekend if you can make it, we will be down Friday morning and camping at Boxcar campgrounds! Hope you can make it out
Clean ass build bro. What jets you recommend for a dasa shorty on a stock motor.
One of the sickest yfz's around!
Looks like money. Sounds like money. 👍 Nice build
@GraveyDavey 007 thanks man!, I’m heading to Coos Bay this weekend to ride it, love this machine

@King Fisher thanks bud!
