Did shift work for 25 years, midnights, days and afternoon rotations. It sucked but the job paid well. The trade off was chronic insomnia, nodding off at work and headaches. I don't miss it.
So I'm not the only one who is in bed at 7 p.m., lol, but it's dark this time of year, and I've usually been up since about 4:30 a.m. since I retired eight years ago. Anyway, my routine has been pretty much the same since I retired. Get up, make the bed, make coffee. I never get tired of being able to relax and enjoy my coffee and not have to leave my place. I get dressed, watch a bit of morning local news, turn that off, read/study my bible usually until it gets light outdoors, decide whether to get outdoors and walk for an hour or do an exercise DVD in my living room. I just try to keep moving after that around my place, keep a list, cook, clean, whatever and am always surprised when I stop and it's early afternoon. Some days I do fall asleep in the afternoon in front of the TV. I run errands and/or do my shopping early in the week and as early in the day as possible to avoid crowds
I make sure everything is neat, clean & tidy before I go to bed, then there’s only clothes washing to do when I get up. (Mad washer lady😅). I feel it’s good to have a routine. 😊
I'm getting ready to get back into making a list of things to accomplish during the day. I've been on a leave from work to deal with medical issues for both of my parents and I'm slowly starting to get a routine down. The only issue I have is that I have some trouble with sleeping at night now, but I'm working on fixing that. Eventually, I will either go back to my job, or I will quit and look for other work due to the situation I'm in with my parents.
When I wake up in the morning and BEFORE I get out of bed I exercise my legs so the knees, hips will be a little flexible and I exercise the arms before I get out of bed this way I don't fall doing them standing up. Seems to work because I am more flexible doing that for me . Phil, I write out a weekly menu, that way I know what I'm having and I break it down on what I need to make those meals into a shopping list so when I go to the market I don't overbuy or forget something and have to go back. It's a once a week trip that way.
I get sun as soon as possible. Fresh air and sun is so good for you, it sets your circadian rhythm. Wake up, coffee, sunshine and then some exercise. I don't love it all the time but it does set the whole day. ☀
Hi, I'm 70, retired and living your life. It feels great to catch up. I've been in the cardiac unit twice since November. Clothes done, bedroom done, trash gone, groceries done, doctor appointment coming up. Car washed done.
57 retired and my routine is 6am hit the gym for a couple hours. No eating but I will do pre workout just for a little kick, after that is out of the way I feel awesome and carry on with the rest of my day. Glad you still workout and I agree it's about staying healthy, flexible and weight down. The mental health is definitely beneficial too.
I’m 72 Phil. Unless I’m playing tennis in the morning. My routine with wife is watch Netflix Korean movie series till 2 or 3am. I got up at noon today. Works for me.
My grandmother and great aunt who raised me always got up early! No sleeping in and that stuck with me my whole life. Even if I have nowhere to go, I get up, make the bed, devotions, coffee, shower. Then walk 45 min slowly on treadmill and watch TH-cam 🤣
I wear bed socks when its cold like a baby gives you a great sleep..😂 Im glad you are looking after yourself.I leave or make breakfast the night before & my clothes out since no age.Thks for the video, Phil..❤ Must invest in hand grippers. thks will pretend its someones throat I dont like to 😂
Do a video of scams targeting the elderly. The gold bar scam just happened in my community. The police managed to make an arrest by pure luck, and the suspect was an Indian guy. They're pulling this all over the country.

Mmmm..... your age! Wait until you are 80 a d then see if you want to fo anything!! No energy at my age to upkeep chores in my house alone with no help. Not easy, so enjoy at your 'age' now.
No routine boring boring boring! Don't put Sox on. I put on slippers. I eat a piece of chocolate cake if I want and tomorrow I might go barefoot. You are somewhat of a perfectionist. I am 82, why would I want things done by noon. What am I going to do the rest of the day?? I do not want to prepare for bad things because I chose to think only of good things. I wake up and plan to be happy! As for family. Never had cousin contact or nieces and nephews. One sister who has not talked to me in years. Three grown children I am in constant contact with and they with me. We zoom when we can't be together. You want a happier life then go make it happen. Its not going to come to you

It sounds like a good plan. Something I'd like to aim for. I like the big plans, but they quickly fall by the wayside.

Oh and by the way I am up at 830am and go to bed at 11. I keep busy during those hours. I have a part time work from home job
I am more a morning person; I get up around 6am (give or take) every day; if I don't; I'd get a headache and get less done.
Good morning buddy! Tuesday morning here before 5am because I just can't sleep. Wake up every 2 hours ugh 🙄
My sleep has been a MESS since turning 60! I hate that 😅
@@KAZHE63 - yep; I'm 62 and sleep is not good for me either.
Phil, you said you like to do mountain biking and puzzles. You also said that you have a lot of projects to work on. What are those projects?

Judging by your background junk, you are stalling on your decluttering problem. I guess everyone needs a Grinch bath towel? Practice what you preach.
I think that's a Grinch Santa hat? Perfect time of year to be displayed! Be kind.
