I was there, 7 years old. Also saw him win in 2012. Wish I knew the significance of this moment at that age. And damn look at them grand stands packed full
I missed this race because i was at STL Cardinals Baseball game with my father and grandfather.... we won that day but the stadium scoreboard show that Dale Jr won the Michigan race and half of stadium cheered!
Remember this clear as day. Eating dinner at my grandparents house(RIP), with my family and we had this on the tiny tv in the dining room. I remember thinking I couldn't remember the last time Junior won, and then when that caution came out dad and I were Soo happy he finally won again.
You know, it's got to be so damn frustrating for Jr. He has come so freaking close to a win, but just gets that bad luck and it all goes downhill. Examples: Martinsville, Charlotte, and Kansas. All of those times, I swear to god he was gonna win. Just can't get that break. Good luck in 2012 Jr. You're going to need it.
have a great feeling all damn week about sundays race. itll be 3 years since this win sunday and itll be fathers day again at michigan, JR IS GONNA WIN, i feel it!!!! i say hes gonna win every week but i have that feeling this week!! GO JR!!!!!!
Notice how fast the caution came out, If it was anyone else leading they would be flipping out saying NO CAUTION NO CAUTION, and let them race as long as the wreck wasn't on the track. But the sport needed a win from Junior, and it needs it now too, I wish he would win again.
@racefan0051 i totaly agree. i have loved the dale earnhardt racing family ever since i was 5. I'm 16 now. i'm a big earnhardt fan. when his dad died i loved him even more
dale jr is awsome because his dad was famous and so is he today.and he finished 11 in points so thats bad but he had a good car all year and in the pratice.
Jr had skill on that restart to win this race but he threw that skill out the door at lowes this year GASING IT TOO MUCH to win it and had a straight away not enough. Had he NOT gunned it for a whole lap on that restart he'd of had enough and of been another first time lowes winner. He had that win sealed before the caution after but oh well. Hes still a awesome driver!
Jr's been struggling the last 2 years but he started this year off good. If he didn't wreck at Daytona the 11th at Bristol would most likely be his worst finish of the year. He isn't quite good yet to win on another track besides Daytona or 'Dega but if he continues to improve he might end up in victory lane with a few breaks
Man looking back i think Jr and Rick Hendrick had a good pairing i mean look at the similarities Jr lost a father (Dale Sr.) And Rick lost a son (Ricky)
michael waltrip brought that last caution on purpose so that jr could win. thats a good thing. this 2011 season has been great for jr. i think he can win a race this year or two if he has the car to do it.
What nobody talks about is that Dale Jr passed the Pace car under caution to keep his momentum for fuel milage which is illegal and should have resulted in forfeiture (see the Vickers interview about this). Obviously NASCAR would never punish the good ole boy Dale Jr.
Lol no not really! I was pulling for Stewart (as I do every year lol) but I knew he didn't have a long run car. I was praying for a caution, but it was nice to see Jr. win in the Batman car this time!
Dale Junior has two wins since 5/6/2006 36 races a year.... Been with Hendrick Motorsports since 2008. Since 1994, Hendrick has won 4 Daytona 500's, 7 Brickyard 400's, over 6 Coke 600's, and most of all 8 Sprint Cup Championships What I'm saying is that Dale Jr. is the male-equivelent of Danica Patrick...
@saintsrulz As a fan of the sport and one who is tired of hearing people cumming at the very mention of Dale Jr's name, I can judge him as much as I darn well please. And then fine, if years are so complex, then let's just say in more than 180 starts (74 before this race, and at least 110 after it), he's gotten ONE win and it was ONLY because of a last lap caution, and he WOULD have lost if the caution did not come out. Any other driver would be considered -done- at this rate.
As a Jr. fan today was Great,... means nothing, 1 out of a 144. At least he had somebody besides his sister to give him a kiss, but you see who he answered to first.. the very person he needs to separate from to ever be in victory lane on regular basis.
@TheGoaltender94 He signed a 5 year contract with HMS and his 1st season with them was 2008. 2012 is the last year of the contract. He moved to HMS for sole purpose to win a Sprint Cup title, but I felt like he could've done that with DEI. If he moves to MWR that would be a big boost for that organization because they have an experienced driver who can win races.
I was on the edge of my seat watching this live when i heard they said the 8 car was out of fuel i thought he meant Jr cause i was not used to Jr out of the 8 car
@SlayerPayback well think about who his teammate was! Michael Waltrip! lol. This is mcmurrays first year in this car, new team, new car, and hes running flat out good. Oh and that 6 race season...didnt he win 3 restrictor plate races that year, thats about all he won due to DEI was overall dominant at restrictor plate tracks. hell even Waltrip was dominant lol
@saintsrulz Know who also still gets top tens and top fives? Bobby Labonte. Mark Martin. Kasey Khane. Brian Vickers. Yet, many consider them no longer factors and say they should retire, heck, Martin even got five wins a couple years ago. Why's Dale Jr still a factor and not them? By the way, if we've gotten to the point when a top 15 is something to boast..that's just sad.
@SlayerPayback You keep on saying '8th in points', but are oblivious to the fact that NASCAR evened the playing field after the last regular season race (where Dale Jr was barely hanging on). Suddenly, there was only 12 points dividing the driver in the first place slot from the driver in the 12th place slot. So, they pretty much started from scratch, which means an 8th place is actually pretty bad. Compare standings after the races...the points went to 2012 (1st) to 2000 (12th.)
@blawilliams of course he planned on laying down wins with hendricks otherwise why would he go there? did you fall and hit your head on the butter churn?
@SlayerPayback Put another way, there is a new field of 12 drivers. And in that field of 12 drivers with the 2000 to 2012 from-the-start points set up, Dale Jr is pretty close to LAST place in said field.
@racefan0051 i agree, i do he wll make the chase this year. and he will get at least 1 win. I know jr sucked last year. But look, he doing alot better than last year
@Carfire45 what about the Daytona 500 two years ago? He took out half the field singlehandedly due to his own negligence Although that did secure a victory for Matt Kenseth whom im also a fan of so happy days
@PchanStitch If you win on luck thats still a win. NASCAR rules clearly state that if a caution comes out while the white flag is out than its over. Meaning the leader wins. Jr was the leader. SO Jr won. It was winning on fuel. No matter what you think that is a win.
@TheGowbeast Not to mention he was only IN the chase due to the new wild card system. He finished the regular season in 12th. He'd be a no-go any other season. So he only, ONLY got 7th in points thanks to the reset and wild card system.
@TheGowbeast He was also the only driver in the entire chase to not win a single race. At least Kyle won a few times this season. ;) Unlike Dale who chokes during the chase AND regular season year after year. Personally, I'd feel utterly ashamed if I was the only person in the chase without a single win, and without a green flag win since 2006. If I were a Jr fan, I'd be wearing a paper bag over my head at races by now.
I'm a Matt kenseth fan however, Jr. honestly just has the worst luck out there on the track. He really doesn't do anything to cause wrecks he just gets caught into them
There’s something beautiful about seeing those grandstands completely packed
I was just showing my wife this. Her first race at mis was 4 years ago.
Its was on Fathers day he won this and it was his first win in 76 races. His father Dale Sr had a total of 76 wins in his career. Isnt that odd?
Wow ,also his 1st at hendrick
PHX Master You mean as a points race his actual first hendrick win was the bud shootout the same year
It was fathers day my birthday and dale jr won..Was a good day lol
I was there, 7 years old. Also saw him win in 2012. Wish I knew the significance of this moment at that age. And damn look at them grand stands packed full
Nice :]
I was 10 and i saw this live sadley i didnt see his 2012 win live cause i was at camp
Lost my brother in dec 2007 this win meant everything. We watched nascar as teens and were die hard jr fans.
i almost cried! I miss when Jr won races! :( hope he gets one soon!
Awesome! I spotted myself and my sister in Victory Lane at the 5:18 mark of this video. :) This was a day that I'll never forget!
I was at this race. Never have I ever felt the stands shaking like they were when he came by on that last lap. Amazing atmosphere.
dale jr is the man jr. nation freaking rocks i am so freaking happy he won he deserved it
I was there that was Awesome !!!
who knew he wouldn't win for 4 years
I had just come back from my third deployment in the Middle East the day before and this was my only thing I wanted to do was watch him win and he did
Thank you for your service
You know, it's got to be so damn frustrating for Jr. He has come so freaking close to a win, but just gets that bad luck and it all goes downhill. Examples: Martinsville, Charlotte, and Kansas. All of those times, I swear to god he was gonna win. Just can't get that break. Good luck in 2012 Jr. You're going to need it.
Damn you did give Jr good luck in 2012 lol
have a great feeling all damn week about sundays race. itll be 3 years since this win sunday and itll be fathers day again at michigan, JR IS GONNA WIN, i feel it!!!! i say hes gonna win every week but i have that feeling this week!! GO JR!!!!!!
June 19: Father's Day and my grandfather's 88th birthday. Not sure if he's gonna make it, his health is so poor, but it'd be awesome to see Jr win!
Dale Jr did it again today, Way to go Dale jr. Your dad would be proud. I hope Dale Jr wins the championship this year, he deserves it.
my heart was pounding during the final five laps won he won i started screaming
Notice how fast the caution came out, If it was anyone else leading they would be flipping out saying NO CAUTION NO CAUTION, and let them race as long as the wreck wasn't on the track. But the sport needed a win from Junior, and it needs it now too, I wish he would win again.
RALPH EARNHARDT AND DALE EARNHARDT SR BOTH LOOKED DOWN FROM THE SKY WITH SMILES ON THEIR FACES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't help but wonder if Jr and Jr would've stayed together what would happen
Man, that was a good win for Dale jr. back in 2008, but he hasn't won since then.
Enough said Dale Jr! fathers day! Awesome!
@racefan0051 i totaly agree. i have loved the dale earnhardt racing family ever since i was 5. I'm 16 now. i'm a big earnhardt fan. when his dad died i loved him even more
You still a Dale Jr fan, at 26 years old bud?
I go to the first Michigan race every year, this one was exciting by far.
I was at this race and it's the only time I've seen Jr win in person
Justin Askins I got to see him win one time in person too
2008: Dale Jr wins at Michigan. Yey
2009: No win
2010: No win
2011: No win
2012: Dale Jr wins at Michigan. YEAH!!!!!!!!
TheTornado1999 4 wins 2014 3 wins 2015
“And that’s junior’s poo on the wall”
-captions
I Am VERY Happy To Say That I Was There When He Won.
gotta love junior!!! He should win some race next year :)
Dales last Win with his Cousin Tony
dale jr is awsome because his dad was famous and so is he today.and he finished 11 in points so thats bad but he had a good car all year and in the pratice.
i have no idea what is up this season with dale. i mean he was a championship contender last season i mean whats the hold up this year???????
Even after 9 years I still can not get used to Dale Jr not driving the #8 Bud car
But tbh i think JR was meant for the #88 cause even though his time in the #8 car was great but i'd think we let the #8 be Ralph's Jr's Granddaddy
"They can write what they want.....but we won one"........Dale speaks the truth!!
LOVE DALE JR WITH ALL MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at Cardinals baseball game and during the game, the scoreboard pop up and it said that Dale Jr. had won the race. I was like "are u serious?"
Best fathers day
Man looking back i think Jr and Rick Hendrick had a good pairing i mean look at the similarities Jr lost a father (Dale Sr.) And Rick lost a son (Ricky)
@DixytheGoat9 yeah Dale Jr looked up to Rick Hendrick as a father figure.
Was a great finish. Would love to see Jr back in victory lane. If this was a double file restart tho i doubt he woulda won this
Omg this was 7 years ago
WayWardWind 24 almost 9 now
Almost 10 now holy shit 😂
Leo Barberan 10 years
@@jade2003YT hell we're coming up on 15 years 😳
michael waltrip brought that last caution on purpose so that jr could win. thats a good thing. this 2011 season has been great for jr. i think he can win a race this year or two if he has the car to do it.
I love how webers like the 8 car is out of fuel...mark martin 😂😂
I remember when i was younger i thought it was Jr really i couldnt see Jr in the 88 at that time
What nobody talks about is that Dale Jr passed the Pace car under caution to keep his momentum for fuel milage which is illegal and should have resulted in forfeiture (see the Vickers interview about this). Obviously NASCAR would never punish the good ole boy Dale Jr.
and then they said mark martin right after and i was relieved
Lol no not really! I was pulling for Stewart (as I do every year lol) but I knew he didn't have a long run car. I was praying for a caution, but it was nice to see Jr. win in the Batman car this time!
yes that should be in consideration..........because i think the eury jr dale jr combo isnt working.
I hope he wins soon... pretty cool my track was his last win though
Awesome
@supertrav88, umm. wasnt darian grubb the #48 car chiefs?
i cried when he won today
Dale Jr!!!! He's amazing.
Dale Junior has two wins since 5/6/2006
36 races a year....
Been with Hendrick Motorsports since 2008. Since 1994, Hendrick has won 4 Daytona 500's, 7 Brickyard 400's, over 6 Coke 600's, and most of all 8 Sprint Cup Championships
What I'm saying is that Dale Jr. is the male-equivelent of Danica Patrick...
heres to a win in 2010! Yeah!
No he's not, at Martinsville, he had the same setup as Gordon. Hendricks doesnt have left-overs, not an excuse for not being able to execute
LETS GO DALE JR !!!
Not only that, but Jr. is also getting "left-overs" from Hendrick...
@saintsrulz As a fan of the sport and one who is tired of hearing people cumming at the very mention of Dale Jr's name, I can judge him as much as I darn well please. Rip to the legend
so now you have to wait 4 more years for him to win agian lol
@Darkdragonic When is his contract up?
As a Jr. fan today was Great,... means nothing, 1 out of a 144. At least he had somebody besides his sister to give him a kiss, but you see who he answered to first.. the very person he needs to separate from to ever be in victory lane on regular basis.
When Dale Jr contract is up with HMS, do you think he will go to MWR.

I'm not crying or anything. Were did you get that I was crying?
when will dale win again it has been longer then i believe
Dale Jr Wins today!!! I'm a Biffle fan but it Is about time Jr Wins!!!!!!!!
@PchanStitch Yeah cus hes talented.
I'm going to MIS on Sunday and I have 2 pit passes.
he gets REAL points none the less...
Bout had a heart attack when i was watching this race!
I was on the edge of my seat watching this live when i heard they said the 8 car was out of fuel i thought he meant Jr cause i was not used to Jr out of the 8 car

Michigan 2008- Junior wins by fuel....76 winless streak
Coke 600-2011- Junior loses by fuel....105+ winless streak
lets hope 'Dega he wins it
i broke my wrist on that day. i felt sad that i missed that race. :(
@saintsrulz Know who also still gets top tens and top fives? Bobby Labonte. Mark Martin. Kasey Khane. Brian Vickers. Yet, many consider them no longer factors and say they should retire, heck, Martin even got five wins a couple years ago. Why's Dale Jr still a factor and not them?

Iove. Dale
Anyone else find it ironic that the 8 car ran out of fuel just before he won?
@SlayerPayback Put another way, there is a new field of 12 drivers. And in that field of 12 drivers with the 2000 to 2012 from-the-start points set up, Dale Jr is pretty close to LAST place in said field.
Ill be at MIS next sunday and jr gonna win it!!!
well you gotta give it to him for having that Earnhardt name
That is a dead crowd...when Dale wins at the 2012 daytona 500 im going to be screaming my ass and cheering
@racefan0051 i agree, i do he wll make the chase this year. and he will get at least 1 win. I know jr sucked last year. But look, he doing alot better than last year
@Carfire45 what about the Daytona 500 two years ago? He took out half the field singlehandedly due to his own negligence

As long as he stays with hendrick he will only be pawn in ricks game. Guess Jr is comfortable with that.
@racefan0051 im a big jr fan too, before he came i liked dale sr, then he died :(
I had tickets to go to a Joliet race a while back didnt go and he won... had tickets to this race didnt go.. and he won. AHHH
every time you have tickets dont go!!!!
Junior somehow had 15 hp more than the field.
FUCK YEA!!!!!!!!
And WHat If He Does?
I'm a Matt kenseth fan however, Jr. honestly just has the worst luck out there on the track. He really doesn't do anything to cause wrecks he just gets caught into them
Soon to be fourth, likely skip a few spots to sixth, by July, he should be 11th or lower.
why does it seem like this year (2011) both times JR almost won harvick wins insted
@racefan0051 Wooh! first three races are pro. 1 pole, 2 top tens and he has always been amazing at Bristol!
