Not every single cell will become a cancer cell. That's just pure chance that it does. We replace 40 million or so cells every single day. If a mutation happens and a cell divides, that mutation will spread and will become "cancer". that's how cancer works. Fat people have more fats. That's fact. Fat as well as being an extra store for calories in the body, is an endocrine gland. It sends out biological information that affects growth and metabolism. this causes higher amounts of insulin in our body and oestrogen in females (just an example). These things cause our cells to divide MORE. Therefore increasing the risk of cancer. By "healthy weight" i'm not sure what you mean. Some people of healthy weight smoke, causing lung cancer. There's a correlation. The fatter you are, the more likely you are to get cancer. It's never a definitive "You Will Get Cancer" but the risk is extremely high...
no where in any medical literature or words uttered by any medical professional worth their degree has said obesity is the only reason people get cancer. it is said obesity increases the chances. that's it.
The probability increases, is not 100%. Like there is people smoking all their lifes and not having lung cancer. But, we know there is a strong link between smoking and cancer.
My wife sits on the computer 4 hours a day, watches TV 6-8 hours a day. Drinks 1.5 liter bottle of wine a day. Eats a horrible diet. Her idea of exercise is feeding the outside cat. Is overweight, how is she still alive???
Then explain why people who are at a healthy weight also get cancer? Why some obese people never get cancer?
Probability
