- Have you considered an aftermarket seat to improve the comfort of your motorcycle? As someone whose always made do with a stock seat, I'm slowly being convinced (through experience) that most motorcycles, and their owners would benefit greatly from a new more comfortable seat. In this video I install and test out a new Seat Concepts seat on my 2016 Husqvarna 701.

I put that battery in my 22 KLR. Love it
I have a DRZ and replaced that seat with a seat concepts also. Stock DRZ is like a 2x4 also. Much better now. Also run that battery. Sometimes it's not so great in the cold but it's OK once you get it warmed up some.
dude stock DRZ is more comfy than stock 701. my DRZ was stolen and I got a 701 with the insurance money and while I love it, more power 6 gears no messing with he face carb during weather changes,... dude I still miss my built out fully set up fun as hell to goon around onDRZ that was stolenon parts are way cheaper and way more available for the DRZ too. have fun broman
yeah I was gonna do the seat concepts but my butt got used to the 701 seat within like a week. got a skda gripper cover for it. just got done a 14 hour trip and my butt felt fine on stock foam honestly. I'm a weirdo tho I come from mountain biking and long distance mountains biking trips so a stock dual sport seat is like a Cadillac to me haha
I put the SC on my 2017 and it’s only slightly more comfortable. I use an Air Hawk cushion when I’m on longish rides.

My stock gen 2 klr650 seat is very comfortable for me. However my drz400 stock seat was horrible! Seat concepts saved me from having to sell that bike or just keep it for offroad only use

Sadly as dual sport riders just about all our bikes need new seats and tanks immediately upon purchase...

what do you think of the blue on the seat matching the darker blue on the graphics? i've been looking at this same seat, unsure if i want to do the tri-color or the all husky oem blue.....husky also has their own ergo seat.....
No, you're not nuts for spending the extra $$ for a well-made, comfortable and supportive seat. Considering how much time and distance you travel while sitting - make that the last of your concerns. Think of how the old tractor seats were shaped, out of perforated metal, which held many a derriere over millions of acres and decades of time. Also consider that BMW and Mercedes seats feel firmer and more supportive over longer distances than a soft Oldsmobile seat. Glad to see you enjoying your Husky!
I have Seat Concepts seat on a v strom 1000and I really can’t say it’s much better than the stock.
I just bought the comfort seat for my Gen 3 KLR about a month ago. It arrived last week and the verdict is still out for me on if it was worth the money I paid for a whole new seat pan in all.
Hard to improve on the Gen 3 saddle.
I'm on my third 701 (2016-2019-2022) and if it wasn't for the Seatconcept seat, I probably would have sold the 701s and get something else, which is a pity cause the bike is soo fun and unique to ride.

The top blue part of the seat btw, a guy from Seatconcept told me it's exactly the same oem material Husqvarna use for the later seats 2017 to 2019, they buy it from the same supplier in Italy.
Yeah it sort of odd, as good at these bikes are at highway speeds, you'd think there would be a place to sit haha. I actually almost went with the black after riding the bit about how the blue was so similar or the same compared to what they use on stock seats. I was afraid it was going to be like the plastic stuff mine came with haha.

How are the engine vibrations at highway speeds compared to the KLR and T7?
I've only had it up to about 65 mph so far since it's been so cold. But it's surprisingly smooth once you get up past 45 (similar to the KLR). I'll definitely do a highway test asap!

I have one of those lithium batteries in my 2000 ZRX1100. So much smaller and lighter, for sure! I think I will eventually replace all my batteries on my bikes with Lithium.
Yeah they're pretty incredible! They feel like they're filled with styrofoam yet have just as much, if not more power than the old lead acids!
Almost pulled trigger for my commercial stand on mower on a lithium ion but winced at the price (for a mower) bike however not even second thought, second battery onward would be L. I.
I know from previous vid that the 701 is lowered. What’s your inseam length?
Correct, lowered around 2" or so. I'm 5'10", 160lbs and have a 31" inseam. I could easily ride the bike at full height, but it's definitely nice that I don't have too haha.
Stock seat is ribbed for her pleasure, not yours. lmao. I just picked up a 2016 also, but mine came with a SC seat already on it, so no idea how bad the stock one was. What an awesome motorcycle..

I have a '23 701, it is a shame, the stock seat looks great with a nice cover on it but after more than 30 minutes of road riding it becomes a weapon of ass destruction 😆 Currently considering a Renazco seat vs. Seat Concepts XL. One way or another my 701 is gonna get a new seat.
The ironic thing is a properly constructed "flat" seat like the 701 and older street bikes had easily can be much more comfortable than modern bikes with their seats tilted forward, which tends to smash the rider's nuts into the fuel tank.

Which windscreen is that and do you like it?
It's off a KTM 690. It came with the bike but I tilted it forward a bit. I'd say it's worth doing.
I’ll bet a black seat cover is considerably hotter than the blue seat on a hot day. I’d like to see a comparison.
Huh yeah I'll bet your right. The black would definitely heat up in the sun. Not great to sit on that way and not great for the material long term.

Too bad more companies aren't on top of this to put some competition in the 2x4 seat problem. Seat Concepts work, but overpriced as they have a monopoly.
Lithium battery will catch fire and roast your nuts! I even had a 9 volt lithium become super hot in my smoke detector!
