Sorry man I knew Bob Ross's work, and I like it, also his serenity and peaceful feeling. But you can't compare him with James, never. Jame's work is much more complex, varied, and even though he paints landscapes, that doesn't make him similar to Bob. I'm not knocking Bob but James is much more talented, treats details differently, it's a much higher level of work. These tutorials are great for very beginners just as for advanced. For me if nothing else it's a great pleasure to watch it, but I'm not an artist for such complicated detailed work. James as always, enjoy your work and tutorial. Maybe I will learn one day 😊
It's amazing to see this done with two brushes. So many other tutorials use loads of brushes or custom brushes, it's great to see what you can do with just a few of the built-in brushes.
James thank you so much for this!! I've been learning to paint with oils, but I can't always spend a lot of time with them. The iPad is now my 2nd love for art! I just started with you and will go through all your tutorials!! Thanks ever so much for doing them!!!!
Hi James, thank you so much for this video! I was beginning to despair buying my iPad, pen, Procreate as I was really struggling to get the hang of digital art. However following this made me feel like I was good at art and I am so happy with the outcome! I also really enjoyed creating this piece (I normally just get frustrated making art) and especially loved doing the sky. Ur colours, design, and explanation was amazing. Thanks again :)
I just bought Procreate and really loved following your lesson. I was able to follow along and learn the features easily as well as create an impressive piece. Thank you!
James, your tutorials are of spectacular quality and extremely helpful. I am truly grateful to you for making them. If it would not be too much to ask for, I hope you may consider creating a tutorial for a lush forest/foliage scenery. It is something that I struggle with and cannot find decent free tutorials for. Whether you do it or not, thank you for being awesome and helping us in our journey.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have mostly drawn figures but now that I'm using the iPad to do art I'm starting to put in more backgrounds and this was such a help to me. Subscribed!
Alexia Ancsan I got a matte protector, an iPad case (the kind you can fold into a stand), two years of apple care, the pencil, and the iPad 9.7 all from Amazon for just under $570 I believe.
Such incredible natural talent, I can only dream of producing work like this, I've tried for such a long time and it just isn't happening, I just can't do art, I've given up. Fantastic image there, absolutely brilliant
Says it all really. He likes my comment, but is not willing to help or encourage. He's just a "look how good I am type of person", "in it for the money etc. Forget these stupid youtube tutorials, get quality one to one tuition with a human being who sits by your side, or just do it alone and take your own path. This social media rubbish is the one reason why everyone is depressed nowadays, we're constantly comparing ourselves to others, it needs to stop, it's destroying life itself.
I’ve recently been trying to get back into drawing (been 25 years) and you’ve been a great help with your videos step by step. I’m new to iPad Pro 2018 and procreate as well. Continue the great work!
Love your tutorials! Have you considered getting a Patreon so that subscribers could get a link to download your palettes? It would be so much easier than looking up each hex color in Google and adding them to Procreate one by one.
Hi, thanks again for your videos, I’m a bit confuse about canvas sizes, if I like to print on canvas my painting is like the A4 printable at for example,a 24 inches by 20 inches using 300 pixels? Thanks
When you are drawing the tree trunks you mention they are somewhat wider at the bottom than the top. How do you achieve that without changing your brush size. Can you clear this up for me?
Thank you so much. I just got my pen yesterday. I want to get more into digital art and this helped a lot. I still have to learn a lot, like getting the trees to look like trees 😂 but overall it looks better than anything i drew on paper 😂
Brilliant video. I’ve never drawn or painted before in my life but following your tutorial I’ve just produced a reasonable picture in 3 hours. I really struggled with the details like the branches on the trees, is there a tutorial that could point me in the right direction for more detailed sections of paintings?
Hi James I have been a subscriber for a while and just came across this one. Love the colors and the trees and the layers to get distance. How can I get a copy of the picture. I got the pallet but cannot see how to download picture for future reference. May do again without video to see if t remember all the steps. Thanks.
Hi James. Do you ever find yourself wanting to pan the canvas while staying at the exact same zoom level? I wish there was a way to separate panning from zooming in Procreate. The zoom always changes slightly every time I pan the canvas.
I have never really been good at drawing but on procreate it feels like I'm doing okay! Thanks to you!! You're very talented, thank you for these videos :)
Great tutorial as always James. Question- What’s the preferred DPI for these? I setup 297 by 210 A4 but it’s very pixelated when doing the trees. Thanks in advance. Joe
Hi! I'm new to procreate. First of all, I love your video! Very nice and explanatory! For some reason though, my soft air brush doesn't have the same effect as yours, its shape comes out very pronounced, without the same fuzzyness, even with low oppacity. I'm trying to pain the yellow/orange clouds like you did, but the stroke outline come out very marked. (English its not my first language, I'm trying to find the right words to explain lol). What can I do to in order to have it more like yours? Thank you! :)
I have just been watching more of your videos and I love them you are such a good artist. I love the way you tell us everything you do and why, what colours, brushes etc you use as it is good for me as a beginer and I will persevere with the colour codes. Is there any chance you could do some scenes with a log cabin you may have done this already but not seen them as yet. Thank you for your tutorials I hope you carry on the good work for a long time to come.
Amazing stuff. This is like the third or fourth tutorial I've followed but mine come out nothing like this. Is there a particular way to hold the pencil or draw? My pressure and strokes look much more messy and my paintings have no depth.
Can we add pallet knives, and specific colour temperaments such as titanium white, Pthalo blue etc? Or is it purely the colour wheel only? (Im tempted on getting an iPad instead of the current mess and danger of some oil paints out there)
You mention that the color codes are in the “description”. Where is that? I can’t find that on my TH-cam page. Thanks. And by the way, I love your tutorials.
OMG YOUR AMAZING I’ve been trying to make trees and sunsets and do basically what you just did and I couldn’t but now I know it’s possible so I gotta stop blaming my tablet 😂 Your awesome by the way your actually like Bob Ross but your own digital Bob Ross if that makes sense 🤷♀️ 😊
Bob Ross for iPad...love it.
lmao
Yeah not sure I can do the Afro sadly
@@JamesJulier-Artist ha, love these tutorials hope they keep coming.

I ordered an iPad (6th gen, 9.7”) earlier tonight, along with an Apple Pencil. Can’t wait to paint. :D Subscribed to both channels.
Dylan Turner how much did it cost? I ask because I want to buy too

I was waiting to see if you would use the smudge tool on the water, to create a slight ripple / wave effect.
I love getting lost in my work. I remember I'd be working until 3am when I was in school. Great video!!!!
