Mussolini's Mistress Kept A Detailed Diary

  • Italian dictator Benito Mussolini maintained relationships with several mistresses - as many as 14 at a time, according to some - but none stuck by him quite as ardently as Clara Petacci. Petacci, his preferred paramour, kept a diary about her time as Mussolini's mistress that provides intimate insights into her lover's life and sexual behavior. Although never married to Mussolini, she was the woman behind one of the most powerful leaders of the twentieth century and died alongside him as a result. even perished by his side.

Hitler did not gain anything from Mussolini. On the contrary, he saved Mussolini multiple times, first when the Italian disastrously waged war in Greece. That war delayed USSR invasion and might be the reason the Germans did not capture Moscow in 1941.

Mussolini was held briefly on the island of Ponza in 1943. However, he was rescued in a German raid led by Otto Skorzeny from the mountain top of Gran Sasso in central mainland Italy, not directly from the island. On a side note, Mussolini was rather unnerved when the 6' 4" Skorzeny insisted on becoming the third passenger on the flight off the mountain in what was essentially a two-seater scout plane.

Didn't kill nearly as many people, only went after Jews to placate Hitler and then not very much, third-rate goals like conquering Ethiopia and Albania which he barely managed, couldn't knock the Brits out of Egypt, and had to be rescued from his Balkans adventures.

@Grizwold Phantasia Not disagreeing with your assessment of third rate, but Mussolini was, at least for a short time in the beginning, the senior partner in the relationship with Hitler. The Beer Hall Putsch was modeled by Hitler after Mussolini's March on Rome, and Hitler admired Mussolini in the early days. I think Hitler's dominance began to emerge at the same time German military power was peaking and was forced to rescue Mussolini from multiple ill-advised forays.

The joke on Motley Crue would have been funny had there been some history recount between Mussolini's invasion into Greece & M.C. drummer's Tommy Lee's Greek family background accosted.

Most people don't know this about Tommy Lee. My mother was in 3rd grade when Mussolini's soldiers came into her classroom in northern Greece. They forced the kids to memorize the Genovese song praising Mussolini. Weeks before my mom died at almost 88 she sang me the song. She memorized it out of fear. As you should know in 9th grade history class the Greeks to Hitler's embarrassment kicked their ass. The Greeks commemorate the day with a holiday called OXI ( meaning NO) since you knew about Tommy Lees Greek heritage ( mom was miss Greece) do you also know Sophia Lorens sister married Mussolinis son and their daughter who was an actress before she was in politics is a right winger. I was ashamed listening her justify how much she respected her grandfathers atrocities "helping" the Italian people.

Well, this was something. She was as much of a mistress to Mussolini as Madame Pompadour was to Louis XV. She admired him for years. She was his biggest fan.

Bruh. La Pompadour talked Louis into a war with Frederick the Great. Mussolini bears the blame for every one of his dumb foreign policy moves.

A person who is true to his ideology can only become dictator. In this era of democracy, is there lack of people who tend to behave as dictator and use democracy in their advantage? Mussolini's beloved chose to die with him while there was opportunity for her to escape leaving him alone. I salute her devotion to him. May God keep them united for ever. Amen.
