3:32 I think it’s at this precise moment that we the audience realize that William has crossed the line from being a simple violent reactionary. As the girlfriend of the mutilated gangbangers weeps and an entire Latino community of innocent people give him a wide berth, he actually walks away with an entire arsenal, completely untouched and unfazed by the carnage his presence has wrought. It’s no longer a matter of self-defense. He is practically a force of nature.
He had crossed that line atleast mentally before the movie even starts, if I remember correctly his entire purpose of coming back there was to kill his wife, and maybe his daughter too? At the very least his wife. Everyone else just got in the way as he says.
Everything is exactly the same today as it was 30 years ago, when this film came out. Americans still have to worry about war with the Russians, Neonazism is still around, Gang violence still rampant, our food still overpriced, our burgers still flatter than an anorexic's chest. Nothing has changed. Except now housing gets added to the list of worries, that's it.
@@KT-uu8qk Correct my dood, I actually found out bout Falling Down and watched it from one of the Postal devs referencing how this movie was a pretty strong inspiration for them. Same with a little bit of Postal 2's idea of "Wandering through a town of madness around you" Much like in this movie, he's just trying to go back to his old home and chaos is just everywhere and after him, even though he hasn't started any of it.
For some reasons this one really stuck with me. Very powerful track that could easily fit into a horror movie with how suspenseful it is. First the synths at 1:23. This is some "terminator" shit. Then this violent heartbeat 2:27 joins in. Straight horror movie stuff. And these sounds stuck with me the most 3:07. These horrifying... whatever they are. Also sounds like a heartbeat, but more twisted and violent. Before 2000's movie soundtrack was something else. No wonder i cling to synthwave so desperately.
yeah, this movie's score carries some of the most raw emotion i've seen anywhere. you don't need context for this music, you just listen... and the image of a remorseless, unstoppable killer is what you imagine. and the shift at 3:32 - it's indecisive (in a good way!). the music can't figure if this entity is a monster or a badass anti-hero. and that's what i love about this score, and this movie; it doesn't tell you how to feel - there is no 'bad guy', just the sweltering atmosphere of a crazy world, and the people that reside in it.
I think I had a comment on the other one about this particular track sounding straight out of the classic isometric fallout games. Especially 2:26 onwards. Still stands.
I reuploaded this video because the old one had loading issues. I used the same file so this one was on TH-cam. Thanks for your patience.

If only more people realized this. Some will pretend that it doesn't have anything substantial to get from the Bill unfortunately.
