Yes. I hate that I can’t seem to trust my instincts sometimes. I have been telling myself that unless I’m actively dying, that whatever it is will either get better (problem solved) or worse, at which point I will allow myself to get it checked out. So far, everything has gotten better. And somehow that works in my mind because I have made a decision, so I don’t worry as much because I know I’m not going to act right then.

Vega Vein I’m only 19 and my dad told me my family has a history of prostate cancer. That same day I got worried about it looked up symptoms and my body started performing the very same symptoms like struggling to pee or peeing in bursts. I’ve never had symptoms that are frequent enough to call it a problem but my mind likes to think up all the times I’ve gotten up to pee at night and all the times I have had trouble getting it out. This is what happens when you want to be healthy as much as you can. You start making things up, the mind is very powerful and we all need to understand that the doctors spend years studying this stuff. You do not know more than your doctor and the symptoms are not serious at all. Especially when you are young eat healthy and work out.

Yeah, don't do it! I've been there googling all the time, frantically, like a maniac. It gives you no answers and induces even more anxiety, it's a vicious cycle that's so hard to break away from. Everyone is different, every disease has multiple symptoms in multiple people, chances are close to zero you'll self-diagnose over the internet. Go see your doctor if in doubt, and remember be honest and don't be shy asking questions.

    • @hunterray4019
      @hunterray4019 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@kevinabuuh4570 I'm a barber and the HIV thing that you mention does happen but is really rare! So we normally do everything to keep that from cutting and sometimes will stop the service if anything like that is even possible like if we see a cut or we gave ourselves cuts. Normally what we would do if we see that is stop and immediately take care of the bleeding so that we don't swap blood or anything else like that. Don't worry at all about that cause most barbers I know take that seriously and will do whatever it takes to keep the both of us safe. Not saying its impossible to happen because obviously it does and thats why they teach us this but most barbers and cosmetologist will take these measures to help and keep both the client and themselves safe! Hope this has helped that fear, its really rare that it happens I promise!

When I’m going through it & I’m alone at home I’ll take myself to a public place incase I collapse that way people can help. Everything scares me. Hopefully myself & everybody who goes through this can get past it.

I myself have a pretty terrible immune system because I get sick with minor illnesses constantly, like twice a month. And it has really made my anxiety worse. I caught Covid one 2021 and i was bedridden even with my young age. My father also got pneumonia and he nearly passed away, so that also affected me. Ever since, I’ve been convinced that every quivering breathe and chest pain is my lungs failing me.
It’s so tiring staying up at night worrying that I’ll just stop breathing if I sleep.

A tip for everyone including myself. STOP GOOGLING SYMPTOMS. There are many many many similar symptoms to either an illness or just nothing in general. Google is a horrible place to look for symptoms. Ur brain loves to come up with symptoms that u don’t even have. Trust me I had fatigue for 5 months and I diagnosed myself with so much diseases and it turns out it was just my anxiety and my sleeping schedule. Or a mole that changed on me was just natural and nothing bad.

That's why daily habits and distractions are imperative for handling anxiety. Being productive and living your life as normal will give you reassurance that the condition and symptoms still aren't incapacitating you from tackling goals. Start with one step at a time, until your daily schedule is a bit too full for you to worry about your health 24/7. Anxiety symptoms will always be there, but just knowing that you still have power over them is extremely empowering when it comes to dealing with them.

Sometimes these attacks are so bad I've went to the ER. Our minds are very strong. I hope everyone that suffers from this finds relief because it is no joke and can drive a person nuts.

You are so right when you mentioned how EXHAUSTING it is. I’ve been dealing with it for two years now. It all started with just a strange feeling one night in my chest… since then ive just experienced one strange symptoms to another endlessly, I’ve diagnosed myself with heart failure, kidney disease, fatty liver disease, BRAIN CANCER, FATAL FAMILIAL INSOMNIA, EARLY ONSET DEMENTIA AT 33, lymphoma, bone loss, glaucoma, and NOW it is plaque build up in my brain and undiagnosed stroke all these things that doctors just somehow missed and I have convinced myself I have hydrocephalus from being a preemie and having a large head 😂 that are all surely finally coming to get me… brain shrinkage etc loss of brain and just water in there now. I’ve even convinced myself that I can HEAR the fluid in my head… It’s all driving me crazy. I’m terrified of losing my mind. It all started just one time with a heart flutter feeling / first ever panic attack and now two years have flown by and I don’t even remember any of the months, just the constant anxiety. I think I’ve exhausted my brain, just constant brain fog and negative cognitive symptoms during the day. Only feel well and normal at night. I’m so tired. I tell myself over and over that it’s just anxiety, I’ve seen so many doctors from different hospitals they have ALL said it’s just anxiety that there are no problems but still I CONTINUE finding problems. It really is horrible. I feel for anyone suffering from this. The doctors all have said it’s anxiety and prescribe antidepressants, but when I take the meds I get even more crazy symptoms I convince myself are side effects, eventually I stop taking them because of the added worry. I know it’s needless, I tell myself it’s just stress and anxiety, to relax… then I have thoughts that anxiety and depression can actually cause disease and death!! and it just absolutely devastates me.
My heart goes out to everyone dealing with this. My mind is absolutely my worst enemy. It’s unbelievably depressing.

Does anyone get a new “problem” and then days or weeks after, see signs (videos, newspaper clippings, commercials, etc.) about the perceived problem and get even more convinced you have it because these are signs solidifying it or are warning you? Or even get vivid/realistic dreams that you have an illness and then you’re convinced when you wake up that your dream was trying to warn you?...OCD/hypochondriac diagnosis here.

I did think much of it but decided to go see a doctor. The doctor who wasn’t the smoothest so to speak told me cold turkey it could be symptoms of MS. My whole world came crashing down. I had an MRI on both brain and spine with that contrast liquid. I had to wait 3 months for my results due to the high pressure on the healthcare system during the pandemic. I was a complete mess during those months with constant stress and anxiety. I was constantly monitoring my body. Every tingle, numbness, spasms or twitching was confirmation to me that I had MS. The results came and I was fine. They could not see a single thing wrong with me. They even told me that my brain looked better than it should due to my age (I was 35 at the time). They usually see some age related changes on the gray matter but I had very little. This was almost two years ago and even though I have papers telling me I’m completely fine I still monitor my body constantly actively trying to find something wrong. Those three anxiety filled months waiting for what I thought was basically a death sentence reprogrammed my brain and I can’t correct it.

my health anxiety has got so bad recently that i can’t even watch or hear anything medical related without suddenly thinking i’ve got that. for example the other day i saw on tv this man talking about how he had a brain tumour and his only symptom was a pressurised headache. since i heard that i’ve had this temple headache every day. silly thing is is that i know it’s most likely stress from thinking it’s a brain tumour all the time however my stupid health anxiety is there in the back of my head like ‘‘yeah but what if’’ and it sets me off again. i’ve got to the point now watching this video at 3am because i’m too anxious to sleep:(

About 4-5 months ago I started getting panic attacks accompanied by physical symptoms on a daily basis like body aches, tension, feeling lightheaded, feeling dizzy, nauseous, feeling hot, dry mouth, and excessive trips to the bathroom to urinate. I felt like I was dying everyday.. every symptom (which could be explained by anxiety) I assumed was some serious illness like cancer or that I would have a heart attack. It’s gotten slightly better, I have my good days and my bad days, but it so stressful and scary. This video helps knowing I’m not alone and recovery IS possible. It’s so unfortunate so many of us are experiencing this but baby steps will get us closer to healing each day.

I hate how I feel like I’m going to have a heart attack, diabetes, anemia, some type of cancer, lung problems, stroke, appendicitis, seizure, tonsillitis, sinus infection, bacteria infection, go deaf or blind, and faint. All because I feel like I can’t breathe, I start shaking because I get cold, I suddenly get hot, feel like I’m chocking, cant breathe through my nose at times, muscle pain (shoulders, neck arms, legs, etc), feel like my arm and leg went numb, chest burn, stomach ache, rib pain, chest pain on each side, tingly body feeling, out of my body feeling, hard for me to burp, forget things, eyes get dry because I cry, ear pressure, and more. It all started after a couple months of being in quarantine. It’s really ruining my life. I literally went to the hospital twice but I’m fine, but I don’t feel fine.

I’m perfectly fine but there is always a voice in the back of my head telling me I’m not. It’s extremely difficult to live with. Luckily, my manager at work is the easiest person to talk to and I’ve been able to actually open up to her about it and she’s talked me through it a lot and is always there and listening. Honestly if it wasn’t for her I’d probably be mentally insane right now with how bad my anxiety was getting.

Thank you Dr. Marks for your wisdom on this issue. I will surely make a list of my concerns and share them with my Cardiologist at my next visit. I was feeling terrible for a long time after being diagnosed with CHF, I blamed my self for not paying attention to what I was eating and how I was living, also a life full of stress. I was given a lot of medications and told that I'll probably be taking these for the rest of my life. I've learned over the years that some heart medications can do more harm to other parts of your body when taken long term, so when ever a new sensation in my body comes up , especially painful ones, I will worry. Did the Doctor give me the right medications? Why doesn't he prescribe more more natural remedies like some the doctors on you tube. You can see where I'm going with all this and what I've done to my self. You've given my some hope, especially knowing that I'm not the only one with this problem. Thanks again Lalo

I couldn’t thank you enough, Doc Tracey. I am 20-year-old student from Philippines and I’m currently suffering from Health Anxiety/Hypochondriasis. I’ve been anxious about the condition of my heart since I have difficulty in breathing and just like what you’ve said, I’m sometimes afraid to sleep at night for I fear that I might die by doing so. I’ve done many medical tests (lab and ECG, next is 2D-Echo) but by far, all of the results were normal, and I thank God for that. Being hypochondriac is really tiring and it steals my time to enjoy life more. I badly wanna end the cycle and restructure my conditioning. Thank you so much for this, I will take note all the tips and the conditioning process. To my fellow-hypochondriac streamers out there, I see you, one day this feeling will soon be replaced by calmness and healing. Hang in there, we will survive and we shall live a longer life!

@@heatherghimire7744 I still have sinus problems and it’s been going on for a year now. Depending on the weather some days are better than others. Googling your symptoms is one of the worst things you can do, I still stop myself from doing it even now. Seek professional medical advice from a real doctor, it will help ease of mind instead of thinking what’s wrong. You’ve been through this before and you made it this far in life, you can fight through this.

@@JexeonTV I’ve had what feels like sinus problems based on where the pain and discomfort is located but I have no congestion. I was scared it was something bad like cancer at first but after multiple phone calls with different doctors and an eye exam and a in person checkup with a a great doctor at a hospital they all said I was healthy and it was anxiety. I still find myself feeling the pain though and it cause me to google stuff and even though I have been cleared my mind still wanders sometimes.

@@Dilpik I hear you. I’m the same. It’s surprising to see how many people in the world feel and are going through the exact experiences. Anxiety is difficult to shake and even some small aspects of it will stay even when we overcome it but, keep your mind busy and know when you are feeling pain, you’ve already been through it and can come out ok again. If you can, go back to making TH-cam content again. Just do it for yourself and not all that subscribers and followers stuff. It will help keep your mind busy. I subscribed to you so, I’m looking forward to what you create when you’re ready 👍🏽

When she mentioned the Reddit user saying his uncle had that symptom and died in his sleep, so it must be true, I couldn’t help but laugh to myself thinking of all the times total strangers who have no idea about me or my body have confirmed my suspicions that something is seriously wrong with me.
Still in the throes of health anxiety, particularly dizziness and lightheadedness, but I’ve been given hope with this video. Thank you Dr. Tracey Marks!

So Jenna and everyone else replying, your health anxiety manifests itself with constant dizziness and/or lightheadedness? I've had difficulty accepting this for months now but I'm finally coming around to it. Seeing others with similar experiences certainly helps.

As a fellow sufferer, all I can say is that somehow you have to find the mental fortitude to not Google anything. I don't let myself google a single symptom. And you need to learn things that tell you that you're having a panic attack, like your neck tingling or maybe your hand will twitch or something. I'm still trying to free myself from this illness but these things have helped me. Googling symptoms will only make you feel worse, and the doctor doesn't want you to google things because then they have to explain the illness you think you have and why you don't have it. There's a reason why they're the doctor and not you! You can't meaningfully interpret the information you will find. I would also recommend yoga because it's about feeling your body and calming down. That way you can learn to feel physical sensations without panicking.

I was researching common types of cancers before remembering that hypochondria is a thing, and this video hit way too close to home. I have been diagnosed with ADHD about 2 years ago and things started to make sense. My dad passed away that year. A year or so later for some reason I started really paying attention to my body and I would get a sore chest sensation or my heart would race so I would stress about that and my heart would race even more. I started researching for lung diseases and found pneumonia that says you get a burning sensation in your chest and I swear that very instant my chest started to heat up and I rushed to my closest family to take me to the hospital. Turns out I had bronchitis in my oesophagus. They did an EKG and said everything looks fine but I started getting the idea that my heart is faulty, that it will suddenly stop beating in my sleep. I would obsessively check my heart rate all the time and get anxious if I don't physically feel my heart in my chest.
It's been months later and I still feel like there's something wrong with my chest or heart. I don't get it, I've never had this type of anxiety before. But it's exhausting
