The problem is, the competition is rapidly advancing as well. Apple's competitive advantage is performance AND efficiency, they have to keep it up to continue gaining in the market.
Something that gave me pause was hearing my daughter (who's 21 and in college) express how she prefers to work on the iPad - to do her film projects, to write her essays, etc. When she was in high school, I took her on a trip to Disney World, I watched her frantically typing out her homework on her iPhone while we were waited in line. She was able to keep up with her school work. I think it's a generational thing which is perhaps something that Apple has a pulse on. If that is characteristic of Gen Z then a powerful iPad makes sense.
Still rocking my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro. All I use it for is media consumption and some browsing/email. No plans to upgrade until iPadOS gets an upgrade. Congrats on passing 660K subscribers, mate!! I think you were at just over 100K when I subscribed.
What I actually want and could use for sketching is a 14 in iPad Pro that has an iPadOS capable of doing all MacOS does and possibly even better since it is touchscreen.

I think as a digital painter I had been using the ipad pro I think now they have to make the pencil nib narrower than it is and they have to add more resistance to it. it will be a great machine for everything.
They are pointless TO YOU, many Top tier Apps take advantage of the extra ram and CPU/GPU. Also we get better performance on the PC/Console games available on iOS/Mac. If YOU don’t need the extra power then stick to your model or get an iPad Air.
I want to get the M4 Ipad pro. My only concern is the Ram. I don’t need 1TB of storage, but right now it’s the only way to get 16GB of ram. I got burned with the Macbook air when I got the 8gb version right before they upgraded everything across the board to 16GB default, and I am not keen on that happening again.
M4 was a big leap from M3. Do you think M5 will be another big leap? Or more like a slight upgrade like M1->M2? I'm kind of holding out upgrading anything until I get wi-fi 7 on devices (laptop and mac mini)
No it wont, i have a Razer Blade with RTX 4080 and I do 90% of my work on my iPad Pro M1. I am upgrading to the M4 on Black Friday. iPadOS has tons of apps to edit Word, Excel, Powepoints and PDF. I print everything from my iPad, I sign everything with the Apple pen and send them directly. My iPad is next to my PC and i take notes on the fly. My iPad Pro is by far THE BEST Apple device I’ve ever bought.
@@powerhouse884 Note taking and PDF editing is great on the iPad. There are a ton of great functionality and apps on the iPad. I could see how word would be just fine. Powerpoint I don't use much. Excel on iPad though is awful (I do accounting). But I also consider ease of accessing files via finder and multitasking. I know iPad can do it well, but it still feels very restrictive. But the biggest thing is application compatibility. You will have a far better chance finding a way to get an app to work via Crossover or Parallels over an iPad. So if you already have another PC/MacBook, then go for the iPad. However if you had to chose one, then Mac/PC
I'm looking at getting the 13"iPad Pro w/ the pro pencil, but I'm worred about when the upgrade might come out. I don't want to get an iPad only to find that a new one is coming out in the next 6 months. Your guess of it being another year has me thinking to just go for it now. I would also like to see some serious upgrades in the new iPads, simply because other "pads" are better at things we expect Mac to do better.
The only thing I want on the iPad Pro is a stupidly thin bezel and higher resolution display. Yes I’m aware the current one is good but higher resolution would be nice and I find it wild that people are fine with the current border/ bezel considering how many people were complaining about the size of the Dynamic Island on the iPhone
It’s ok. I’m still waiting for the 2030 Ipad Mini 8 that will have the awesome A18 Pro chip. Maybe the jelly scroll will finally be gone. Hell I even hope it will be 120 refresh and oled. But I think those options will come out on the 2035 IPad Mini 9 with the futuristic A19 Pro chip. It’s going to be so rad!
This M4 chip on my iPad 13” is MORE than enough!!!! Don’t plan. On upgrading for at least another 5 years! I upgraded to the M4 form the M1 which was a good 4 year gap so the upgrades are definitely noticeable!!! 💯

Great ipados with more professional apps with pencil support will make it better. macOS on iPad would be fire ngl, but app integration with pencil it's a problem rn in macOS (if you use your iPad as second scree, touchscreen), especially with system apps, they are really inconsistent on how your iPad should be used, more if you take a look at other apps with far better support for drawing pens (which means, this apps could easily be used on a macOS iPad).

Hi, I've just got an EP-133 KO II from Teenage Engineering and I'd like to get mac mini on M4 Pro or a Macbook Pro and a Ricoh GRIII/Nikon ZF or maybe a Rega P8 in the next two years.
Considering my current M4 iPad Pro is about as powerful as my 2016 Duel Xeon Mac Pro, maybe even faster, and I can already watch TH-cam super fast, I’m not sure what an M5 would help with unless they are majorly upping the ram and storage. CPU speed is what you focus on, but what you really should be asking is when will we get 10X the internal storage or 10X the ram.
The new iPad Air is poetry in motion, a screen worthy of games & watching films alike. The iPad would benefit from an specific iPad iOS which will make it stand out 100%

I use my ipad professionally and it’s my main work house. My biggest Apple related regret was upgrading from a M1 Pro to a M4 pro with 1 tb.

the mac, newer macs give a far larger "100%", while iPad's are still stagnated at workin at their minimum.

I am trying to update my router with a be800 for that WiFi 7. My current router is over 6 years old.
Since the base iPhone 16 now has 8GB RAM should we expect the iPad Pro M5 to have 16GB in the base and maybe 24GB in the 1TB/2TB?

I think if it is just going to be the CPU changed with no other changes and you have the money right now for the M4, go for the M4 iPad Pro

Apple have stated iPads will have a 2-3 year refresh cycle, thats why we went from M2 to M4. I don't expect a new iPad until M6
