I bought this amp because of the tone at 9 minutes ("I really like tones like that.") and because I was able to sample the amp at a local shop. It's absolutely perfect for the no frills, button and knob-averse guitar player like myself.
I’m struggling to pick this with the orange ppc212v Or the super crush 100 with any cab I can pick Or a lightly used rockerverb mk3 I’m looking for something that can do alternative rock really well but has a good enough clean channel where I can run pedals through it
AD30HTC owner here, and I’ve been really tempted by the OR30 lately. Sounds pretty versatile and has more gain than the AD30. Trying to resist the GAS attack…
I first heard jim root played orange but actually i think now that it was rob chapman and i liked them instantly it has a defined crunch to it but keeps the sound of your guitar honest which i like thers a defined growl to the gain and i find its perfect for zepplin. Also jimmy bowskill plays an ad-30 with el-84s which both my mesa the lonestar special 1x12 and the mark v 35 currently has finally got some good new tubes in it as of 10:45 pm oct,24th my parents 48th anniversary since they got married and they both are still together with me.But my amp sounds so much better now i was honestly worried and i worry alot lately about life mostly the future and money but all i want as a guitarist like most of us is a good amp and my les paul to be in tune and im glad i got both now so lesson learned about tube amps is there amps but they use tubes hence tube amp so if your amp is making bad farting and crackling noises just change your tubes!!! CHEERS Jeff!!!!
So, is this a Plexi or a Vox or a completely original design? Adrian keeps confusing us by putting EL84’s in everything. To this day, there’s still no clear answer on what the AD30 actually is either.
The AD30, to me, feels somewhere between an AC30 and a 1987 plexi circuit. Channel 1 being closer to the former and Channel 2 to the latter. The OR30 has 3 gain stages, sort of an orangey 800 (more so than the 50 which is hella dark) it can sound pretty similar to a rockerverb in the mix, too. Love mine, best with V30s or Greenies IMO.
In the last few days I'm going nuts, trying to figure which English made Orange amp might be the best for dooming with my 9-string. The Rockerverb has a wonderful clean channel, but the drive channel seems to be too well-mannered for my taste, not enough mids. The AD30HTC was a lot of fun when I tried it at a store, but it has this unsteady compression going on when notes ring out, sounds a tad cheap in some situations. This OR30 seems to be just the compromise of all worlds I needed. Class A design with tube sag, all of the mids with a nice focus on low mids, and the ability to go from trebly punk all the way to mellow doomy sounds with a nice low end to things. The improvement over the AD30HTC I didn't find until I learned about the OR30. It's pricey, yes, but I can also hear why it's pricey, it just is built that good. I guess matching it with Delta Pro 12A speakers in a big Zeck 2x12 cab will be a good idea?
Thanks Guys, great amps but talk less and play more. Also, it has always bothered me that the maker of Orange does Not use WORDS on the amp to explain the function of each nob....You know Volume, Gain....STUPID.... While I am rambling these amps a so very heavy and in my 60's I have to sacrifice sound most times to have an easily transportable amp.pid
All tube amps today are so far overpriced it’s sickening! The same sounds now are available in many modelers and the cost is whatever you feel like spending in a wide range of options … so what’s the f- ing point of buying amps anymore … these manufacturers are pricing themselves into extinction
Believe it or not, some people just hate the flimsy produced sound of even the best modelers. Aside of obvious sound differences you can't easily get rid of, the response just feels different. Nothing beats the immediate attack and punch of tubes, or the compression and overdrive of the same.
@@Goth108 I get that , I have several tube amps ... that in no way changes my statement , to each their own , if you got the money for the "feel and response" that no one in an audience can perceive go for it
@@jdwild1698 I mean, the reason I'm playing guitar is just the sensation of those specific details in first place. If some day I was forced to stay away from tubes I'll probably just stop playing guitar, no matter what I did before. Those tubes live and communicate with you, while those Axe FX + Kemper bands don't even draw all of my attention when going to concerts. As long as people use their ears to listen, tubes will never become obsolete.
I can often feel the response and sound difference and that's in the audience. The bigger the gig, the more obvious it becomes. Modelers are great but sometimes they just don't cut it.@@jdwild1698
Fascinating and a wonderful sound
The dream team duo demo is back. 😁👏👏
I need this amp really bad
Great job and very tasty playing!!!

You guys are awesome, I ordered the amp today, boom
great to see companies making versatile home studio/live amps
Brillant stuff, well made in UK.

Me to ! 🙂
The jam starting at 8:56 sounds totally amazing! Should have been much longer :)

Start the savings I think I’m in. Love my ad30tc

Can you get all these same sounds and tones from the Orange 30 amp Duel Terror?
A dual terror has one less gain stage so it won’t get as distorted, nor does it compress as much as the OR30 and the OR30 has a lot more lows
I think the FIST symbol is supposed to mean "punch".

You're right, all companies should cease creating new circuits and amplifier layouts, and change to software. How could they be so stupid?
