Ive always hated sweets since my childhood, but when i went to Portugal and tried this overwhelming creation I realized this is the only sweet and desert I’d eat anytime anywhere any day, i will go back there again someday and have it again

I just came back from Portugal and I bought this delicious treat from Pastéis de Belém. The same store featured on this video. It’s wonderful! ❤ Keep up the good work 🇵🇹 !

These are delicious. I think it has to do with the multi-layered pastry and its crunchy texture. The sweet custard filling is also wonderful.

no one else in lisbon makes them as crispy as these guys in belem. the custard is not eggy enough fro me though. i dream of a pastel de nata that has the dough from belem and the custard from the other shops in central lisbon

No rocky science.

After tasting it in Lisbon, now I cannot enjoy a normal egg tart at my hometown 😢. It’s fantastically delicious.

i live nearby. When I was pregnant, I was able to eat 12 pasteis de Belem for lunch... 😅
Pasteis de Belem are from another level. The other cafes try to imitate but theirs are too eggy and too sweet, and the pastry is not as crispy and robust. The originals pasteis de Belem are the best

There is no such thing as chinese custard tarts. They are PORTUGUESE custard tarts. Obviously, because Macau was a portuguese colony, there is a strong influence of portuguese culture, including the culinary influence of course.
