    Looks great!
I love all your vids, but I might offer one bit of feedback on this one. I'm not a fan of background music, and especially you don't need it! You're plenty entertaining without it. I might be the only one who feels that way, and I'll still watch for sure. Thank you for making these!

I was trying to find a way to shorten up things without losing too much content, speeding up the more boring parts made sense to me after I let you guys know the plan. Shorter videos means more videos uploaded because it doesn't take me so long to produce. I wanna pin this comment up top and get some more feedback from you guys on the subject.

I prefer shorter videos. Nice work man👌

All I could think of for the first half of the video was how much I missed the old editing. Since you mentioned knife care there's a guy called green beetle I've watched that speeds his vids up. You might watch a few and find a happy medium. Love the vids man, and love your personality. Keep it up

Yea I checked him out, he does voice overs but I could make it work for sure, Id love to get the videos down to 15mins if possible. Ill experiment some more on the next one. I wasn't really feeling the music either.

Hi mate, I just finished spectraflaming my first car that I've zinc plated using your methods. I want to say a huge thank you to you for pushing me to 'up my game' in regards to the hobby - your videos have been an absolute godsend for tips and tricks. Thanks and keep them coming!

@@DiecastResurrection She's looking pretty decent! Perhaps a little too light but ok for a first attempt. It's the mainline King Kuda from this year in Windex Blue so it's quite dashing. I've got a matchbox Mx-5 Zinc'd and ready for a coat of Anti-Freeze tomorrow!

For the decals, I use the product called Solva Set. Stuff works really good. I can't wait to start restoring red lines. Watching you is like watching the Saturday morning cartoons. You get entertained and you learn at the same time. I think it's great. Keep it up. More vids! More vids!

  • @derekwhidden9730
    @derekwhidden9730 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow. This one is near and dear to my heart. I still have my original redline that was painted over 100 times trying to duplicate those flames, and I have another original somewhere in good condition.
I want to take mine and see what it would look like in black chrome
Oh, if you are trying to solder on one of these, the trick is to copper plate the casting first. Solder sticks to copper. When the job is done a quick acid bath removes the solder.

You've inspired me. I'm going to try this. When I was eight, my mom bought one for my cousin for his birthday. I expressed I wanted one just like it, mom had no problem with that, but there wasn't another one on the pegs, so she said she'd give me the next one she found. We never found another one... booo! Never picked one up in the meanwhile over the past several decades.

I'm not complaining. I've watched every video you've released and have them saved. With that being said, with situations like the windscreen, I wouldn't be upset if it put you off by 12 hours on a video release. I may be alone in my thinking, but I'd rather you be late and 100 percent satisfied with your release :)

Solvaset from Walthers is the Mac-Daddy decal setting solution. Decals really need to go on a gloss surface for best results.

One tip I remember from a modeler's magazine from many, many years ago was to use vinegar on decals instead of setting products. I remember buying "decal set" and thinking how much it smelled like plain old vinegar because it basically was. And yes, on thicker decals I used the stronger pickling vinegar my mother used in her preserves.
The results were wonderful. It softened the decals to better take the form of the model and it lessened the gloss sheen of the transfers. Now, as to whether vinegar is compatible with modern decal transfers is a different question. But perhaps someone could experiment?

If you can find it get a bottle of Solvaset, it's usually sold in hobby shops that cater to the model train crowd. This stuff is potent, about five to ten times as strong as Micro-Sol and Micro-Set combined. I have used it on model airplane models with compound curves and other irregular surfaces such as rivet lines or simulated grating, this stuff will literally melt the decal into the paint and onto the surface. Just a couple of things you need to know about this stuff.....
1- It is hot as in it will melt your decal. Make sure you have it in place exactly where you want it with the decal as smooth to the surface as possible. The use a brush and flood the surface of the decal with the solution, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST and then don't' touch the decal for at least overnight.
2-Wick the excess off with a paper towel by touching a rolled up piece to the edge of the pooled fluid WITHOUT touching the decal.
3- The decal will wrinkle up as the Solvaset goes to work, don't touch it. Just leave it be, if you try to flatten out the decal at this point you will just smear and tear it. At this point, it is a puddle of ink but as it dries it will settle onto the surface, as I said, it will literally be burned into the painted surface.
4- Wait at least a day before each decal is applied. That means that you can't put a decal on one side, use the solution and flip the car and do the other side. If you do that the first side is sure to be ruined as soon as it touches the desktop, especially if you're using a towel or something like it to cushion the diecast.
If you have the patience and follow my advice you can have the edges very thick decals literally disappear into the car's surface and look painted on. You still have to clear coat the finish but you'll need less of that kind of paint.

Mr. Weaselton, I hope this message finds you healthy and happy at this time of year and you are filling your time with Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy moments.
Could you please inform someone like me as to what printer you bought and why? Perhaps also the materials and settings used when making yout transfers. I would be most appreciative.
    Very truly yours,
    Adam C. Boyd

I would like to do some tests before I reveal the printer! There isn't a lot of clarity on the net of which print style works best. Id like to try it out first and make sure its going to work properly for this, Ill do a walk-through video!

I love the Super Vans, and o love this end result!! I see where you'd be a little disappointed with the flaws in the decals, but it's still a DAMN good looking van!!!

For the glueing of the axles. What about doing the baby powder/super glue method that Marty uses? I think it’s baby powder or corn starch..can’t remember, sorry. He says that creates a very strong material. Just thinking that might be a bit stronger solution. Anyway great work! Love your channel!

Thanks for the heart- it means a lot, I am truly serious about your work. Any time I can learn something is good. (Advice from my late father).

Love the attention to detail and the honest appraisal. Subbed and quite likely to give this a go just based on this vid. Good job man,

I like the Van regardless if the flames. I think you did a tremendous job. I really want to find some older hotwheels to try my hand at restoring.....I'm thinking of an A-Team van from my youth I have just not had any luck finding any older ones. I welcome all hints and suggestions on where to locate them

    Excellent!!!
Please do a 1977 redline towtruck. I have one to do but have no idea of the color. Plus the tow book is plastic. It has a nice body but needs to be rescued.
