I wanted to freshen up this old Hot Wheels Chevelle today, the wheels really were the worst part, but I think brightening up the paint might actually help it along. This was a beautiful casting that I wanted to look more like a classic Chevelle. We put some big muscle tires on it.

Had a 70 Pontiac Lemans that i put Iroc Z rims on. Car was a kinda dark gold metal flake.

Great RestoMod! The finished result looks both beautiful and evil. The sort of car that would leave you in a cloud of rubber smoke at traffic lights. Nice one!

@Diecast Resurrection - good show kid. When I was your age the big Chevelles were about a thousand shades of blue from sky to deep metalflake gunsteel blue and when you were searching for a proper color I screamed at the screen "blue, fool!".
I have a real 1970 chevelle ss 396 with this custom blue paint scheme that is purple blue colour changing. Has a built 396 in it and I really enjoyed watching this cause I love seeing someone else recognizing the car

This is really cool. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. When everybody else was getting high. I had a 1970 Chevelle SS with a 454. Back then,you could cruise! Three or four cities around here. But then that all went away. Because fuel went from $.40 a gallon to 1.29. Yeah ..Fuel crisis.You have to understand the time 1974 -75 .But I still have pictures ,and memories of the ( especially the times in the backseat ,with the sweethearts,mmm )70 Chevelle with the eleven to one.. Domed Pistons,with a big roller cam! 4-11 rear end ,yes, 12 bolt. A lot of chrome, metal flake green, White Racing stripes. Black interior! Hearst shifter,tee handle! Headers made it sound really freaking great. Everything under the hood was chrome! Steel braided hoses. Double pumper,Holly fuel pump! (Yes Holly fuel pump was chrome also) with a big Holley 4 barrel carburetor (can’t remember the number 9 something) was fed by what seemed like garden hoses. Could only use Sunoco 260 Premium. Or airplane fuel! Which I only used at the Muncie drags! At the time I couldn’t afford wheelie bars. So I just log chained my rear end down! With N 50-15s Because thats all I could afford at 17. And during the middle 70s. I could still run it on the street. There wasn’t nothing around here that would beat it! Won a lot of nice nice cars ,title for title! She ended up at a junkyard.Because I sold it to a school mate, because I got married, like a dumb ass. He took it to the drags. Blew a water pump and blew the engine. He Didn’t have the money to repair. End of story! But I still got the memories. 😎

Definitely one of my favorite casting, maybe a "Heavy Chevy" stripes on the side in black, and the rubber pad on back bumper? Like to see what you come up with on one of the Olds 442. Great video 👍 and entertainment.
A set of lake pipes would look good on it, in my opinion. Absolutely love the color. You're a talented man. Keep the videos coming

Your work with scale paint - in all its aspects from prep to polish - is formidable. It also doesn’t hurt a bit that your unfetter tongue is a witty companion to your ever calculating mind. Damn - it’s a joy and inspiration watching and listening. Sometimes you are my playlist while I model.
But - your true canvas is in 1:18 scale. While you produce wonderful “64” scale paint, the “Purple Woody” and “White Firebird” really show your talent for scale painting. Go BIG or - screw it - there is NO OR - go BIG

It’s really expensive doing 1:18 cars every second day. So it’ll never be a full time thing I doubt. Going to do as many as I can but I don’t think it’ll be a full time thing. Maybe when the channel is more mature possibly? I don’t know. But thanks for your kind words brother!

Pair of Shelby style stripes would suit it I think. Love the big ‘n’ littles, very cool 😎. Somebody else suggested chroming the window surrounds? That’s a good suggestion too. Keep up the good work and irreverent humour 😉👍

the Chevelle, is one of the most iconic and beautiful cars of its time, to the point that it is a scale or natural size looks just as beautiful, an excellent job, I must say that when I choose to put lines to work at the end my head exploded 1 minute earlier when I think the same, even if, it is beautiful.
Good to see you back. That floor polish is good stuff I cleaned some of my original cars with it diluted with some water and it worked good just buffed them up by hand with soft cloth to finish.

I’ve used the M2 wheels from a 57 Ford on a Lesney Matchbox Lincoln Continental. It made it look so much more accurate. Definitely a good tip, and glad to see you’re back!

I was thinking black vinyl roof too. If he starts feeling really nuts, redo the interior white with blue seat covers and a white vinyl roof, that would be sweet.

Love the way you put so much care and attention to detail into a more modern lower value car, just the same as you do on a redline. That finished result is beautiful and goes to show you can achieve a top quality job on any die cast car. Thanks for posting !

The corners of the hood have hood pins, you could use some silver to touch them up. Also the rear tires have a little spacer (molding) you could trim, to tuck them a little better. Very nice build

I would paint the chrome trim around the windows
I thought about it, but I couldn't repaint a third time. I want to look into that foil the modelers use for window trim. I wonder how it would work on diecast and can it be cleared over.. hmm 🤔
Chrome the door handles, and do the marker lights. Would look more complete.

looks great, i might recommend a vinyl roof, would go with the interior, and contrast great with that nice paint you put on it, and also color some of the body trim with the chrome pen.

Looks fantastic! You should start painting the door handles. It would add a real nice touch. Use the fine tipped paint brush or that chrome/silver marker you used in this video

Car looks great, nice color choice, I agree it needs a little more, maybe white racing stripes, or a white strip on the lower body line of the doors. Wheels also look awesome, and I have had the same idea use M2 axles and rims. Nice work my friend!!

For the mod cars especially this one. I think if you black or chrome the door handles, it would give it that break up and pop. Great choice on the color also. Great work!!

Another great result :) stripes is a must for this automotive ikon. A wheelie bar might compliment the wheel setup

That is badass I have a tao of old Hot Wheel cars that are let's just say rust buckets never thought about restoring them bringing them back to their Glory I am going to try this with one of mine and see if I can make it happen great video glad I found it
