- She can't be recycling tires one at a time, let's lock up the rear end the cheap way (besides welding it, I guess). While I'm in there, I put on a rear disc brake kit, and some air shocks. Time is running out for the April 3rd burnout competition!

Well, whoever said this channel wasn't good for the educationals.
EXCEPT if it's Olds, Pontiac or Buick----twelve bolt cover, but ten bolt innards. Not same as Chevy 10 bolt. Good thing with those is NO c-clips and bearings don't ride on the axle shaft.
@@hotpuppy1 Correct, B.O.P. also has a VERY WEAK 8.2 ten bolt non C clip posi with cast iron posi cluth dogs, no clutch packs for A body's & F body's. I got took on one of the 12 bolt/ 10 bolt BOP ring gear rears, nobody make a posi for it. When Derek snaps a axle on this puppy, I don't want to be anywhere NEAR it ! as it's going to take out the 1/4 panel and then the tire & rim are going saaaailing ! as the car drops to the ground.
And he did not even have to take off his shoes!

@@hydroy1 learn at me mike, ive got a 65 gto with its original 3.23 posi diff. Im in Australia so finding a 12 bolt to fit is virtually impossible. Is this version of 10 bolt any good or is it made of glass? Its made it this far so it cant be all bad but the 389 just got upgraded to 455. Borrowed time or not?

Got pulled over in my 73 nova once. Cop said “you sure those air shocks are full enough?”
“I pulled you over cause you looked like your wearing coke bottle glasses with your face pressed against that windshield!” And what’s with that tiny steering wheel!””?!?” He just wanted to check out my car and we talked for about an hour, he shared a lot of gear head tips. Yep miss those 70’s! I later raced him in his vette, I let him win😉 then he cussed me out cause he knew better... great guy and best cop ever! RIP SGT O!

I've been working on my Inlaws vehicles in the dirt for 2 decades and only just recently discovered the darned father inlaw has a friggin uggah-doogah with all the accessories. I've never been so happy and mad at the same damn time before. A feller just needed to get that off his chest, time for a wobble pop.

Love the idea of taking a car like this and making it a dedicated tire fryer.

In my Stock Car for dirt, I had no money budget, so I took the welder and just welded up the rear end so it was a posi-trac too. Poor man's locker is what we called it.

Yep ! The higher , the better in the late 70's. I know, I was finishing high school in back in 80, and I had that exacly 71 Chevelle with 100 lbs in the air shocks. We could see the oil pan if you folowed the car. That was Cool .....

I made my name in a game called Escape from Tarkov "illbedipped" and its made me some VGG friends because of it. Best channel out there!
Most people don’t realize that that 8.5 ring gear rear end which is still in use today is pretty darn strong. A 12 Bolt Chevrolet was eight and seven eights inch ring gear. They use the same bearings in the Pinion. And the carrier. The axle shafts in the later years are a very good quality.
Its so important to "pretend I didn't see that" especially when you got kids.
Cleaned that rear end pretty dam well !!! & I'm pray'n for the little rear end to thrive!

The way a differential works is devilishly clever. They do say the engineer who invented had been working on it for a long time without any luck, so to clear his head he went out walking during his walk he was seen talking to a strange old man at the lonely old crossroads, that night when he got home he went to his draughting table and drew the differential fully formed in 5 minutes, lol. TBH it's probably been around since before the automobile.
My OCD makes me think about nothing more than wanting to wire wheel all that rust off her.
