    The angle parking demonstration was very informative! I been scratching my head, thinking how I was going to accomplish this on my layout! I will be purchasing the flex-ruler you showed in this demonstration. Woodland Scenics not only has some of the best products, more importantly, your costumer service is second to none.

    good information note if you are placing stripes near a crossing you need two sold lines you can not place a single stripe line here and it can not be dashed this is a no passing zone and passing is illegal.

    You make it look easy. However, my yellow striping pen stopped working after about 8 inches. I replaced the tip, and it then worked for the rest of the small project I was working on, although the results were not very satisfying. Who knows if it will it will work the next time I want to use it. There has to be a better, more reliable way to make road striping, and I intend to look for it.

    I enjoyed watching this video on Road and Parking markings. My question is where do I get those paint pens and the scale ruler you were using......

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gordon Lay The Pens are the Road Striping Pen - Yellow (C1292), Road Striping Pen - White (C1291) and also the Road Stripe Remover (C1293) The ruler is a mulitpurpose tool called the Flexi Edge (C1294).

      Woodland Scenics how long in HO scale feet are the white dash lines that separate the oncoming and ongoing traffic? Please let me know. Thanks so much

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dylan! We recommend using our Flexi Edge to help make the white lines on your road. To create lines that are visually pleasing when modeling, we leave the option up to you to choose your own line spacing. If you are modeling in HO scale and you want a modern 10 foot dash, one yellow dash and one white dash make 10 scale feet. For an HO scale 30 foot dash, three yellow dashes and three white dashes make 30 scale feet.

    What was the exact measurements for the city streets with the street parking areas? I know two-lane roads are 3" (as mentioned in a previous video).

    • @ModelSceneryExpert
      @ModelSceneryExpert  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We apologize but we no longer have the model featured in the video. Measurements can vary depending on what you are doing, so we do not know the specific measurements were used.

    I bought a road striping pen, first time it was great, then I stored it upright until next use, but now nothing is coming out from the middle and paint is swarming out around the pencil tip. Can you help me?

    What are the white sections of the diorama made of - the sidewalks and building foundations?

    • @ModelSceneryExpert

      That is made with the Smooth-It. If you watch our video entitled Model Realistic Roads & Paved Areas, it will show you how to use the product at around the 1:40 mark.

      I like to use painter's tape to mask off my road markings and then draw them with dry pastels through the mask. The resulting lines end up precisely the same width with squared off ends and they look perfectly weathered as well. I personally find this to be the best and most realistic way to do them if realism is your goal.

  • @paistefreak18
    @paistefreak18 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice, but the roads and side walks look to new, a different weathering technique should have been used.

    Mine just arrived , read instructions followed what they say on packaging and absolutely stuffed a section of my road ,which i will now repaint ,either it runs out or lets blobs of paint out. I purrchase a lot of Woodland scenics products which are of a high standard.
    This is now in the bin where it belongs .
    Drove to Bunnings $6 for a white permanent marker that is a thousand times better. Very Dissatisfied & highly not recommend.

    The pens do not work well at all, have bought a couple to see if the first one I bought was just a bad one but neither one worked well at all, either comes out to thin, or in a blob or stops working in the middle of a line, Woodland scenically may have good products but don’t waste your money on the road striping pens.

  • @n-scaleunionpacificevansto6569
    @n-scaleunionpacificevansto6569 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I continue to be VERY disappointed with Woodland Scenics road striping pens and flexi tool. With the pens, I have followed the instructions carefully, but generally the ink won't come out of the tip, and if it does come out, it coms out in blobs. As for the flexi tool, it comes all doubled up in the package, and no matter how hard I try, I can't get it straightened out, so that it doesn't have a lot of little bends from being doubled up in the package. Woodland Scenics, you should be ashamed of selling garbage like your paint pens and flexi tool. You need to do a lot better than this.
