Sweet the engine runs. The one and 1/2 of a filter is a old trick that was used when you had no spare filters. Times have been hard in the past ,that much I can say. At leat it had a new filter not a 30 year old cotton filter in it. Also pro tip: change the fuel filter every year no matter how many hours you have on the engine. Pro tip 2: starting engine must be tight and repaired or at least the fuel system for it must be in order. Have had issues where the engine would not even rope start since the carb was over flooding all the time or just debris in it. I use 98 octane fuel and 1:25 mixture of 2 stroke oil. Pro top 3: The starting ending clutch compartment originally has a mixture of engine oil and diesel fuel 1:1 ratio(it's even in the owners manual). But you can replace it with ATF dextron 2 fluid, worked for me. The D-50 is a hard started cause it has no glow plugs and short injectors.
I've pretty much have gotten the starter to be as good as it can possibly be, it's really scratched up inside, so it's not really worth repairing it too much. I'm now trying to figure out how to split the tractor in half to fix a pretty bad oil leak. The fuel pump is also in need of repairs. Most if not all of transmisial fluid is old (front axle, rear axle gearbox etc)
@@nobodyha8760 If the transmission fluid is like a milkshake or like a molten chocolate color it's probably stained with moisture. Most of these fluids are usually 30+ years old.The main oil seal is a typical leaker. Also one more thing to beware of! If you are using old hydraulic pumps or used ones. Make sure to replace the front seal with a new one. Other wise the hydraulic oil may leak inside the engine.
