      i have just had the WORST experience with this product. after minimal use the roller balls became deformed and utterly useless. i watched some tutorials online, ordered replacement roller balls and attempted to DIY replace them to the most frustrating 5 hour experience with no avail. i contacted their customer service and since im past the warranty, theres nothing they can do. so pretty much i have a heavy ass machine that lasted me about 20 cuts, massive frustration, and the customer service agent telling me that they warn against replacing the roller balls DIY for safety reasons....i get it, my fingers are calloused from trying to unscrew each tiny screw in the most inopportune place... i get why it's a safety concern. HA! oh well. bottom line, dont buy this product

      They are very user friendly. Any new machine can be overwhelming at first, but Cricut walks you through you first cut when you set it up. You can always come back here for lots of beginner projects with step by step instructions.

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jane. I would opt for an Explore or Maker. These are large enough to hold 12x12 paper for invitations. The Maker does so much more than paper. But if it's just invitations with writing cutting and maybe adding foil the Air 2 would be perfect.

    Which machine will cut out a small stencil? Can the maker engrave on craft sticks? I'd love to make some other things down the road like sensory bin inserts but don't have time now. How thick of wood can the Maker cut?

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Any machine can cut a stencil, you are just limited by size with the smaller machines. The engraving tip is not great for wood, I would add vinyl to craft sticks that can be cut with Cricut or use a wood burning tool to engrave them. The Maker can cut up to 1/8 inch thick basswood with the knife blade.

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would opt for one of the Maker machines. The deep point blade is recommended for most types of leather, this blade with with Explore or Maker. Thick leather needs to be cut with the knife blade which only works with a Maker. You can also cut vinyl and cards with this machine.

    Hi Sarah, what cricut maker would you recommend when it comes attaching logos to clothes?

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You only need a fine point blade that comes with every machine to cut HTV or iron on. This is the material you would use to attach logots to clothes. You'll want to consider the logo size. The Joy Xtra can use a letter size sheet of material on a mat and longer if you use a smart material. The Maker machines can cut up to 13 inches wide and really long using smart materials.

    • @SarahVanderkooy

      You can cut reusable stencil material with the fine point blade that comes with all machines. But I would opt for either the Explore or Maker to get the largest size stencil possible.

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like you'd need to cut vinyl, which all machines do well. And you wouldn't need to go too big, just enough for cups. Opt for the Air 2. If you think you might use more materials down the road the Maker might be a good option.

    Such a helpful video! Thank you for uploading. Cyber Monday sales just started and i didn't realize there were 5 types of these machines. Explore 3 looks perfect for mono color high gloss finish for truck and tanker decals. I have a question: I want to avoid buying a wide format cutter and using expensive software, i.e. flexisign or versaworks .. if i have a decal that will be approximately 48 in wide by 10 ft long, i know the machine can cut upwards of 75 feet in length, but can the software take a full image, split an image into separate columns, and cut them in segments? Example would be 12"x10' x4 rows for complete logo.

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Cricut software is pretty easy to work with, but I haven't done what you are talking about. You would have to manually do that and I'm not sure exactly how you would do it in Design Space. You can easily upload images to Design Space so if you were able to create the image and slice it in another software you could upload those pieces to Design Space.

    I want to make designs for t-shirts , bag, cups, and bottle water which one would you recommend? Thanks

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those projects typically use adhesive or iron on vinyl and those materials can be cut with any of these machines. I would opt for the Explore Air 2 because it can cut up to 12x12 sheets of material. If you think you might want to work with larger designs consider the Explore 3 which can cut smart materials at much longer lengths.

    Which one can do stencils for custom shoes

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That would depend on the type of stencil material. For shoes you probably want to use a thin adhesive stencil material that can form to the shoe. In that case, any of these machines can cut that material. The Maker 3 will be the fastest and can cut the biggest sheet of stencil film, but the others work as well.

      You can cut all kinds of paper and even wood with certain machines. The fine point blade that comes will all machines will cut up to 300 gsm paper. To go heavier you will need a deep point blade.

    One last thing. Do you need laminate over regular car stickers (not decal) ? I just want to make regular car stickers. I might go with the cricut vinyl but don’t know if I need to laminate it for extra protection. Trying to save money and time. Thanks

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To make a sticker truly waterproof you will want to laminate over it. A sticker has printed ink on it. If it's a vinyl decal that is just cut then no need to laminate anything.

    Hi, I wanted to get a little more inside on something. I'm a quilters plus a school bus driver, and I like to do die cut for my Elementary kids to help them on the bus also I'm learning how to English paper piecing, which uses die cuts shape. My question is, will the joy work for me? If not, which
    one, do you think would be the best? I won't do a lot of crafting with it.

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      The Joy will cut paper no problem, if you want to cut fabric you may want to go with one of the larger machines depending on the size of the material you want to cut. The regular blade on the Joy can cut bonded fabric or fabric with a backing. The Maker has a rotary tool if you want to cut thinner fabric

    Hello, I really like to buy this machine but I am not sure if I can use it like printer too or not. I want make cards can this this machine directly print it on the card is it possible?

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is not a printer, you would need a separate machine to print images then this can cut. A Cricut can draw, there is a way to add a pen and write or draw on cards when you make them.

    Which do you recommend for mostly cutting felt?

    • @SarahVanderkooy
      @SarahVanderkooy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would opt for the Maker or Maker 3, you can cut it with the regular blade that comes with the other machines but the rotary blade is really nice for a smooth cut on some types of felt.

    • @SarahVanderkooy

      They do not need a mat to cut so they are not limited by the length of the mat, they feed right into a machine.

    Before you buy somethings to consider.
    Do you have a full time job? Do you have a computer and computer/tech savvy? Do you have a dedicated/spare room/space to use? Do you have a disposable amount of income?patience?If you answered no to any of these questions Cricut machines are not for you. The machine is the cheap part. What is rarely considered is the amount of money you will spend on material and accessories. Also your time you will spend learning these complex machines. You are better off just hiring a print shop to make whatever it is you want made. Ask me how I know.

      This is so very true. Sadly if you are living on ss even if you love crafting. You definitely need to look at the cost of the machine and more importantly all of the cost to even use it 😢 I pretty much must stick with stencils. And writing free hand with paint markers. Unless you make ALOT of money or have a good amount of money leftover each month to play with, it's impossible to buy all the extra stuff you need for these. They are truly an expensive hobby. And if you plan on making things to sale. Know that in order to make money doing this, you are going to have to charge more than stores and will need a very high end look to be able to get enough for the items to make a profit. 😢
