Fancy rice cakes! The deep fried rice cakes looks like Indonesian rice cakes or we call it jadah/uli (oo-lee) but we use sticky rice, and sometimes cook it with some grated coconut and coconut milk.
Matt-- I've tried washing rice both ways, but the very BEST way I've discovered is a hybrid method. By WASHING the rice in the Zojirushi cooking pot to stir-up the loose rice starch and loosen what still sticks to the grains, then RINSE that through a strainer to ensure it all gets dumped out of the cooking pot, then repeat one or two more times depending upon how clear the rinse water is, I get really clean raw rice in minimum time. When I just use the cooking pot, a good bit of starch always remains to require inefficiently attempting to flush it all out again. Likewise, when I just rinse in a sieve it takes a long time, and manipulating it using my fingers only grinds the grains against the mesh, causing more starch to spall off. Try it and let me know what you think.
I helped open Oto sushi in Juanita and Redmond… our number one appetizer was the “Kirspy Unagi” we had a fried rice cake, topped with spicy tuna, avocado and Unagi (eel) a little squirt squirt of kewpie and kissed with ginger/sesame seeds.
You have such a broad level of experience, covering various cuisines & produce some very interesting food. A vid i’m sure many of your followers would enjoy, would be a selection of your 5 favourite starters, mains & deserts. That would be good.
Glad to see i am not the only one who loves hamachi. Just tried it pretty recently after 5 years of eating other sushi, and before I had it, tuna and salmon were my favorite, after I had it, hamachi was instantly my favorite.
you want to watch a video of a guy who doesn't know how to pronounce Umeboshi properly, actually make it. lmao. pro's do not use corn starch with rice, they use rice flour. he is just another yotuber copying others wrong recipes and repeating them, there is no experience in these dishes or expertise. th-cam.com/video/6RTS3pnrMnc/w-d-xo.html
唐辛子 or Tōgarashi means Chili or Cayenne in Japanese. If you went to japan and asked for "togarashi" you'd more than likely get japanese chili powder instead of the seven spice we all know. There's also Nanami Togarashi which has less orange peel and focuses more on the Nori, sesame, and spice. It's important to know these things if you're gonna visit japan one day
OK man you're a little wild with all the camera angles. Now next video, I need to see you get rice out of the bin from 4 different angles and the camera has to switch between those views every second of the way 💀
I made this one about rice cakes since my short on it got 6 million views. What short of mine would you like me to go more in depth on next?
Do again the Steak with Edible Gold.
In depth butter chicken please
An in depth video on ramps would be 🔥🔥🔥
It would be tight to see a cheese sculpture of Pikachu, but I'm just a guy.
This is one of your chillest videos I've seen. I absolutely love the more tutorial like format with the chill music.
Love these longer videos man, also these transitions and angles are amazing

THE RS THOOOOOOO!!!!
I do miss my seattle rain, Boise can get boring
could this be made with long grain or basmati rice or would it not stick together properly in the rice cake step?
long grain would probably crumble too easily!
but I've not tried, so maybe you could make it work ^_^
It will definitely fall apart unless it has a binder like egg or potato, the rice's starch alone won't make it stick together
Its called a Rice Cake Pyramid.
Bellevue Uwijamaya!!!! NIOCE!
What is the cooking device you always use?
OK man you're a little wild with all the camera angles. Now next video, I need to see you get rice out of the bin from 4 different angles and the camera has to switch between those views every second of the way 💀
