I love it, perfect for quick checks ahead when I'm walking my dogs, combined with a floody headlamp (Hs21). It's smaller than I was expecting, the smallest 18650 I've ever seen. Decent flood when you use it alone, for a throwy light. Love the way you can have Turbo on mode memory when it's in Stepless mode. The first one I got was faulty (charging and indicator light), and they were reluctant to replace it, but eventually agreed. They didn't send a battery that I'd paid for with my last order, so I've got mixed feelings about them now. Great lights when they work, though! Cheers Darren
Hey Simon, that's a good tip about the stepless mode, and leaving it on 100% for one step turbo. Forgot about that but I do that with my Wurkkos FC12. Sucks about the battery. Why didn't they send you another?
@@DarrenYeoYT they did offer a refund if I returned it TBF, but I bought it on Sale, so I would have been worse off by the time I re-bought one at full price! I read in the reviews on AliExpress that several others had the same issue, they should have made it right for us!
03:00 _"It's rubberised.."_ 😳 Does this mean you won't like the SR12 just like you evaded the Wurkkos TD05 for its similar rubber side switch? 🙂 Well done with the review, Darren. I'm used to my SC31 Pro and FC11c's rubber side switches and I'll gladly embrace the new SR12. Convoy's S8 + 8A buck driver + SFT-25R still gives more for the money, IMO. 😀🔦❤
Some of these classic Convoy lights could do with a charging port and some modern features, some restyling and think they'd really be unbeatable as a budget brand
@@DarrenYeoYT The USB-C charging port is always a flashlight's weakest spot in terms of water resistance. All those marketing speak, IPX68 standards are only as good as this humble piece of rubber flap. The rubber material that serves as the port's cover isn't the kind that will last and in humid climates they first degrade by becoming greasy or sticky to the touch and eventually crumble. It's strange that manufacturers like Wurkkos and Sofirn routinely provide spare O-ring seals but don't bother to include a spare USB-C charging port cover. 🤔 The absence of the USB-C charging port also keeps Convoy's prices unbeatable. By the time Simon adds USB-C ports, proximity sensors, fancy OLED displays, proprietary sealed batteries and package them in an iPhone-like gift box like Nitecore or Olight, I'll be long gone as a customer! 😀
Nice torch with good beam, but I'm not a big fan in any side switch light now. Good review. Still have not got the sft25 led yet! Will soon try it out on Convoy! Cheers!😎 See ya!
I own this flashlight, minus the fact that it has a pretty bad green tint at low modes and for some reason you can't turn it off from the turbo shortcut straight away, it's nice.
The 50 diode gives a greenish tint on TD04 as well. Wrote that this is a feature of the 50 diode. ask in your separate video owners of flashlights with 50 diode leave a comment if they will support the green adapter On Convoy, it seems that the 50 diode is almost never used. Does Simon know anything?)
I have one arriving with 8A driver. My T6 with sft-25r &5A driver should be equivalent to the 5A S8 due to the same reflector, driver. So I'll do a triple comparison later when it arrives.
@@DarrenYeoYT Looks like I have to wait until the CNY hols are over, mate. My usual Convoy sellers have closed their online stores and I can't see if they still have the M2 for sale. Other retailers might have the M2 but none come with the SFT-25R. They've been pre-assembled with the Osrams, Nichia 519a or Samsung LH351d. 🔦😭
I don't think it would, only if there was a FET driver in this. And the supplied Sofirn cell should be able to output 5A which is what I reckon is going to the LED
Best budget EDC Thrower? The Convoy S6/S8 running a 5A buck driver same SFT25R LED beats this by a lot. A video comparing the two would be most welcome.

Nice I like the small Sofirn flashlights You're correct about the button I do have to line up the pocket clip with the button on my sc 18 to find it in the dark it can be annoying I'll be purchasing this good review thanks Darren ☘️👍

PS turn the clip 180 degrees from the switch so you can always find it!

I didn't notice the green, though I'm red/green colourblind.

Is there a 21700 'version' of this light with the sft25r?
Not yet but it won't be long before they make one.
A natural comparison would be the SR12 vs. the S6 or S8 with the SFT-25R and the 8A buck driver.
He did the S6/S8 last year with other LEDs, but recently did the T6 with the 25R.

s6 and s8 are better in terms of trow because of more deeper replector
I wonder if it will gain more range with a samsung 30q battery?

He just did the T6 if that helps. He did S6/S8 last year with other LEDs compared.

@@DarrenYeoYT Bring the TD01c as well as the L21B for the comparison test too but leave the LEPs behind. 😀
I gotta ask……..How many flashlights do you have now? 😂
Too many mate. I stopped counting 😅 over 100 for sure.
