Hey there! There's a new mix coming to this channel that Id love for you to check out: th-cam.com/video/HopogB_8yVE/w-d-xo.html Come watch and Ill give you a firm handshake :)
Thanks for the upload. I remember listening to tracks like this when visiting California as a child. Being a lower middle class kid from Colorado hanging out in my rich uncles beautiful house in the palisades. I remember my parents would go to bed, I would get up and sneak out of my room to sit on the balcony and look at the city lights with the little radio on the table and late at night I found a station that played these kind of drum and bass mixes. I remember just feeling so free looking at the palm trees and the lights listening to what at the time was very "new" style of music in the early 90s. I remember just looking out at the city that was so alive and all the people going about, even after midnight. warm summer breeze, smelling all the blossoms and exotic plants I never got to experience in dry Colorado. I miss those days, these tracks bring me back to a simpler time. RIP Uncle George and Aunt Peggy.
Damn brad, your description is so vivid it makes that place come alive for me, even though I've never even been to the States. I listened to such music like a decade later, friend's basement, playing Quake III with a bunch of other kids all night long. I was rocking a self-built Windows XP machine, just had been introduced to Linux, Matrix I had been out there for a year or two, but still was revolutionary, and the future was somewhere out there on the Internet✨
Dude, I remember playing this with my older brother. He always said that I should upgrade my racer to be faster in the races, but I never wanted to because it would get too fast for me to steer properly and not crash into all of the walls. Good times... Thanks for all the work you put into your mixes!
Everyone I knew did this too, including me! Then I discovered the actual drifting and sharp turn mechanics on the controller as an adult and I shredded this game to completion.
I found the races were a lot more tense and fun if you never upgraded because then you could actually get neck and neck with the AI and the pod you chose mattered so much more than if you just maxed out everything and never even saw another racer.
Best podracers were the ones with maxed out traction and braking since they offered the best control. That along with a high repair stat to keep you running.
@@firewalker3289 Haven't played this shiet in over 20 years, but it was the first thing that came to mind ;) Great game, like the jedi knight series and kotor. I wonder why they can't make good SW games anymore. Sad.
@@Gergination considering the fact that Redout 2 is inferior to Redout 1, how can one even claim that Redout 2 is the best sci fi racing game? Personally, I feel like the original Wipeout, FZEROX and GX, SW Racer ep1 and Redout 1 are all the peak of AG racing games. Each has a completely different set of mechanics, but all of those games actually polish it to the point where they are the best in their domain. Any other attempt that came afterwards has been exceedingly disappointing. Cue in GRIP vs rollercage debate, for example...
@chamberscmt When I was a kid I wasn't able to stay on the top track so eventually gave up on trying to get 1st place. About 21 years later, I'm 33 years old and decided to download the game on steam. Eventually, I reached that track. After about 30 minutes of practicing I was able to complete that course in 1st place. I couldn't believe I was able to stay on the top track.
Bozzie Baranta was a huge unbeatable boss for me as a kid. Going back with the switch rerelease and taking down that cheeky fucker was incredibly cathartic, and the biggest victory against a childhood foe that I can think of. Shame that Inferno was disappointingly so much less difficult than Abyss - the latter really should have been the final course in the game...@@benefitizsexy
@@Ginkgobonobo It certainly felt impossible, but I cleared it back then. It was tough, but what I did was take my time and speed along where it was mostly straight. You just had to use a softer touch at a slower speed (and try not to get rammed from behind, lol)- Once you got past that part of the track, you could drop the hammer 😄
This ambient dnb music always gives me this feeling of being forgotten. Like an old ps1 disc left to collect dust. Strange type of nostalgic comfort. Almost exclusively listen to this when high, it's best when high.
Yeah, only real beef with the game. Guess they didn't trust their NPC pathfind AI too much to remove the handicap? Still tho, the rubberbanding was useful if you were into ambushes - you knew you almost always had the second placer right there, closing in... _then woops, sorry for pushing you into that column!_ Best used at the final lap of the game, get the AI offguard.
It was better for a huge portion of the game to *not* upgrade your podracer. They would just go faster if you went faster, so you could go slow and steer more easily.
Hey, your channel helps me every day to get through my PhD thesis and stay motivated with good focus music. I just wanted to say thanks, I really appreciate that :)
There used to be an arcade near me that had a full size version of Anakin's Pod Racer with this game, it was incredible. My dad actually got hooked and played it for hours when we used to go there. LOL.
The video in this mix hits hard. I had the original PC game, the only game which was not pirated, with the original box, poster and everything. I sold it years ago. Thanks for the mix, f-walker.
A lot of people didn't know the PS1 loaded games directly to RAM, then just used the disc to run the music tracks. So you could pop the PS1 open, put in your own music, smoke a massive bowl, and play games like N20 or Wipeout with your own dnb/trance/techno albums running. Made for amazing parties
