One of Poulenc's melodically rich piece. Very beautiful.

i just love Poulenc so much, i think he is a composer for not taking his music too serious, or better worded, not having fear of the ridiculous. He is a composer that i aspire to for his music that even if fun, it's also dramatic; even if simple its layered; even if very economical with its material, it's always new. He described his music as "perfect imperfection" and i think that says it all. I simply love Poulenc.

You are spot on. He does take his craft serious, but doesn't shy away from the extraverted, the silly and the joyful. He is what he is.

At the same time, few 20th century composers wrote religious choral music as sincere, powerful and wonderful as his Mass, Four Lenten Motets, Four Christmas Motets, Litanies to the Black Virgin, Stabat Mater, Gloria... and more. And he composed one of the very few operas on a religious subject that can be taken seriously: DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES. The truth is that even when he turned to "frivolous," "worldly" texts or subjects, he took his composing very seriously indeed. The result is a body of work that has stood the test of time and will continue to do so.

That was the BEST description of his music! I also love his "Farewell to Youth" or Sinfonia with lots of childhood and sort of folk tunes. But all his ork music is rather groovy!

will never forgive Poulenc for writing the bass clarinet part in bass clef. I got a paid gig to play this with very short notice, and wasn't really good with sight-reading bass clarinet lines in bass clef (it's traditionally treble), and boy howdy did it suck to have to rewrite the whole thing in a different clef in time for the gig.

No way Brooklyn gets a top 4 seed. They had an under .500 record in the games after KD got traded. They don’t have a star. If anything they’re closer to the lottery.
