Everybody is a people of color is what he said first, then Sunny tried to push racism by saying he was black. He corrected her that is skin is more brown. What he said had nothing to do with race, just an accurate description of his color. Love this guy for not being divisive. He’s not racist at all, but the hosts of The View are!

@@valkimura1053For those of us who have studied media history, Sunny Hostin was simply stating a historical fact. Books by Hollywood history researchers like Donald Bogle and Gary Null show that hundreds of Black entertainers (not to mention scientists, athletes, models, and on and on and on and on) never got the opportunities they earned because Euro-Americans who controlled strings didn't want them to have it. That's NOT a victim story; that's just straight-up history. Don't hate the historian; hate the story. As for Billy Dee, he is fun to watch on the screen, but he has often shown an alarming and careless lack of consciousness about history--all the way back to some of his 1960s interviews. His focus was to swirl, so nothing new to see here. But just because some states are so ashamed of their history that they don't want you to learn it doesn't mean that Sunny has to act scared of history, too.

You do realize there were laws implemented into society preventing people from persevering based solely on race ? Or did you purposely make a conscious decision to embrace ignorance and pretend that didn't and still doesn't exist ? Asking for a friend ? I'll wait......... for your answer.........

Asking him about what HE wrote in HIS book about RACE is not 'focusing' on it. It seems like people are too fragile and threatened to even discuss the well known issues that have occurred in this country without slamming people for acting like victims or calling them race baiters. White fragility isn't going to erase history and the discussion of it, no matter how many times Black people get denigrated for discussing historical facts.

No, he was stating a fact he is a Brown skinned man, that does not mean he was denying being African American ..for we come in ALL shades..He seems to be a complex man, who does not like being put in boxes..When do you hear a man of any race, talk about Jungs concept of Anima & Animus on national television which he identifies with.. I commend him for just being himself...

Billy Dee Williams totally lost me with the "brown-skinned man" comment. It's sad when some of the people who have been the most prominent faces of Black culture don't even want to be known as Black. But thank god for people like Smokey Robinson, who's as light as they come, and still PROUD TO BE BLACK. ✊✊🏿

I hear ya but so many will put levels to how black someone is when their complexion isn’t a darker tone. Same as when Vanessa Williams won Miss America and was told by people that she wasn’t black enough

    • @evejones1088

Many African American men don't identify as black. In their minds they just want blend in. I must say I have never heard of Billy D. Williams being a civil rights activist. If he was I have not heard that. Also if you caught what he said about his daughter being a liberal, that's a tell tell sign.

I love how Billy politely shot back at sunny when she tried to put words in his mouth. He's not a victim and doesn't call himself black. Quit stereotyping people especially when you don't know a thing about them. If you always play the victim and race card you will be spinning your tires all your life and next thing you realize most your life has passed you bye. Good job BDW.
