  • "Celebrated artists, designers, photographers, writers, actors, and activists offer personal reflections on the essence of home in this inspirational book to benefit No Kid Hungry.
Filled with personal insight, humor, creativity, joy, and poignancy, Home: A Celebration is a lyrical ode to sanctuary and a thoughtful and inspirational book to peruse again and again. Through the lenses of their crafts and passions, each illustrious contributor presents an offering-either a personal text or work of art-on what home means to them. Historian Jon Meacham discusses books as the emotional infrastructure of the houses in his life. Photographer Oberto Gili documents the glorious garden at his property in northwest Italy. Chef Alice Waters proffers a recipe from her home garden. Interior designers-including Nina Campbell, Steven Gambrel, and Kelly Wearstler-share aspects of their profession that define home to them. Other notable pieces are from Joan Juliet Buck, Julian Fellowes, John Grisham, Jill Kargman, Joyce Carol Oates, and Gloria Steinem.
Charlotte Moss’s inspiration for this project is Edith Wharton’s The Book of the Homeless (1916), a fundraising effort that aided refugees and children during the First World War. For this book, a portion of the profits are benefiting the organization No Kid Hungry, which works to feed more than 11 million children in the United States who live in food-insecure homes."

That's such a coincidence because in the 80s I loved my blue bows above my pictures.

I just found out about William Stubbs, I hate Red! You’re Fired! book. I found him searching for different ideas for chinoiserie. I used to have 2 sets of Blue Willow (Churchill) and now I have teapots. He uses dark woods and paints that are rich in color. He once glued an expensive bowl together and kept it. That touched me and reminded me of so many during the Great Depression. I hope you find this book.

Can I move next door? All kidding aside....I know why I enjoy your channel so much. It reminds me of when I would read to my children and they would study the pages of their favorite books. Your gentle voice and the slow turning of the pages is mesmerizing. My daughter had a favorite book (it was from a series that I had a book mailed to her every month). Goose Goofs Off. Funny thing - her bedroom was not unlike the main characters in the book! Was that life imitating art? Thanks!

Thank you for that kind comment! Reading to my children was a nightly routine that we all loved. Books can have a huge impact on children, so I would bet it was life imitating art!

What do you think of Henrietta Spencer Churchill?

That is funny you mention her. I recently read that she is going to be giving a presentation in Huntsville, Alabama at the Huntsville Museum of Art on October 26. I greatly appreciate her restoration efforts, but I do not have any of her books.
