I think this video deserves more acknowledgement. It's really interesting how you've chosen to review each mix by comparing them. I've never seen any food mix reviews like this before. Thank you for sharing your opinions and reasoning for each mix. You've also brought awareness to the fact that each hamster will need a mix that will provide that individual's needs. Good video! :)

I feed my Syrians Sunburst and my dwarfs Burgess, and supplement both with Mazuri blocks, which they actually love. It is cool to see them all side by side.

I feed my Syrian hamster the hazel hamster diet. She totally loves it! One time, I went to put her bowl with the fresh food I just put in, in her cage and she was so excited she jumped in the food bowl so fast she flipped it over 😂 I really love your channel and your little moo-moo. ♥️

I've just purchased a bag of the Higgins hamster food and I agree with you that it's better suited for a Syrian hamster as it has plenty of larger food pieces in it. I am super excited to try the Burgess hamster food for my picky dwarf hamster, lol!

This comparison video is extremely helpful! I loved how you talked about the nutritional content and actually took out some of the food to demonstrate the differences. However, I actually think the higgins vita garden might be better for dwarfs because it does not contain fruit bits. I do know you mentioned that you were discouraged by your viewers to buy vita garden because of its higher fibre but may I ask why? Based on my knowledge, fibre is beneficial for hamsters and there isn't really a thing such as "too much fibre".

My dwarf loves the burgess! I also mix in Oxbow pellets, Selective pellets, a few extra millet pieces. She's loving it! :) Moo will adore it I'm sure! Can't wait to hear how she likes it.

It's nice too see this video I live in the uk and the burgess food is a big hit with all 3 of my dwarfs they adore it and both of my Syrians love Harry hamster, also in the uk Harry hamster has 17% protein so it's quite interesting to see that it's less In the us

Hi, I know this is a very old video but I would also like to add that the first seed mix contained VERY little fats. I would never recommend anything below 6% and nothing higher than 8%. Younger hamsters should also receive 8% of fats and the amount of fats they need as they age will decrease to 6%. Hope this helps! Overall, I really appreciate you doing this cause I was actually thinking of getting the first seed mix for my hybrid!

Hi! I'm getting a hamster soon and I have a few questions about hamster diet. Higgins sunburst (which tends to be the favorite food for whammies) is too expensive in the Uk, so I was wondering what the best replacement would be? Thankyou! 😊
My Syrians love the Higgins sunburst food. But I do think it has alot of fruit/sugar in it for dwarves. I feed my dwarves the Sunseed dwarf food mix, which they love. I do have to supplement protein though.
My hamster LOVES this food sooo much! The only thing he leaves in his bowl are the brown pellets which is fine because they are really just fillers.
Quite different type of foods from the US & UK. Both I think would be good. Depending on your preferences.
Thank you so much for this video But i do have a question. I'm most likely getting a dwarf hamster, and at my local pet store they honestly don't have any source of good hamster food so is there any other good foods out there. that i could keep an eye out there for.
This is a really weird question but could you put the hazel hamster food in a blender/food processor so the bits are smaller?
Have you ever thought about putting it in a food processor for just a second to break stuff up a bit? I am considering it myself
Omg Lori the Burgess has tiny mealworm pieces!! Wow im amazed with this food, im going to get it for my dwarfs (but im gonna go watch ErinsAnimals video on how to change a hamsters diet safely) Btw great videos this video helped alot because i want to have a good diet for my dwarfs and future hamsters. The tank comparison video also helped because now my dwarfs and future hamsters have 40 gallon breeders!

Two questions:
1. Do you recommend the regular Burgess for syrians or is higgins better?
2. Is the Burgess for dwarfs good on its own or does it need to be fed with a pellet like Higgins? I'm pretty sure Higgins is fed with a pellet because of the low protein and Burgess seems to have a good amount of protein.

Heeeeey! I use the Burgees mix as I'm in the UK and it's one of the only food packets my robos eat :) I've always wanted to try sunburst, I can't wait to come to America to get one to try :)

Littlelotti, might you be able to share the link that you used when purchasing the Burgess? I've been a US hamster owner for a long while and have wanted to try this for a while. What are your thoughts about Harlan Teklad Blocks? I've used those for my Syrian's, Dwarf hamsters, and my Chinese hamster and to be honest, my dwarf hamsters have preferred the Teklad (& I supplemented with a budgie seed mix) over any Hamster food mix. Just wondering your thoughts.

Thanks for the purchasing info. As for Harlan...I first learned about it on a forum (Hamster Central). It was talked up a great deal & my hamsters have always enjoyed it.
Is this still available because I’m in America but no matter what website I go to it says it’s unavailable/discontinued (before I put in my location) and the Burgess website doesn’t have it listed anymore. If this is discontinued, what would be the next best thing besides the SunBurst to feed my dwarf hamster. I haven’t gotten on yet but I’m doing all research and getting two types of food for my hamster to choose from. One with bigger pieces (with small pieces included) and one with smaller pieces (that has a small percentage of big pieces)

I’m kinda confused cuz I’m not sure if I should use sunburst or hazel hamster for my hamster that I’m getting soon please answer and tell me which one is really good for Syrian hamsters I understand that you said hazel is better but than you said sunburst is better so which one is better😔

If I buy only the burgess and feed him only that would it be enough? I've bought like 4 hamster mixes and I'm not satisfied with any of them... I've spent a lot of money and my hamster doesn't ever empty his bowl. Can you please tell me from your experience with your dwarf hammy if it does work? Thank you. New subscriber btw!
Kissed by Fire ... Awe hello! Welcome! And I suggest, picking the food that suits the species of hamster you have. So I suggest dwarfs eat burgess I've tried 4 seed mixes and it's the best one I've found. Then add a pellet to it as well, I love mazuri or oxbow. Oxbow is my fave 💗

Can you use something that has a crude protein of 15% without adding any other food or treat to it?
Try vita garden it’s cheaper than the last bag an has the same exact food and seeds it’s amazing my hamsters loves it
I really recommend the harry/hazel hamster food for Syrians because they love the big pieces, however I understand why dwarfs like moo don't like it, but it is a great food for Syrians I give it to mine and she loves it........ I also love your channel and obviously moo. also thanks for the advice on food to give dwarfs because I am getting a pair soon and I think they will love the burgess food because I live in the uk ....... thanks :)

I can't get Burgess hamster food because I live in the US so i'm trying to side what food to feed my hamster. I was just wondering if a dwarf hamster does not mind big pieces would Hazel hamster be a better choice than Higgins sunburst (with the fruit picked out)?

I only just got my Syrian hamster a few days ago.I feed him Harry/Hazel hamster. and for the most part he eats it apart from the smaller pieces. I was think of next time I need food to get the hamster harvest (not the small kind) because I have heard that it is slightly better than harry hamster food. Does anyone know if the other version (not dwarf) of hamster harvest has a lot of small pieces? or should i stay safe and stick to Harry/Hazel hamster?

It has been discontinued so it is no longer available.
Higgins has way too much sugar, my Syrian had pre-diabetic symptoms & my dwarfs got too fat. I just try different brands every time. I just give the cheaper brands of seed mix for variety, but always give Mazuri blocks and Oxbow pellets for nutrition. As long as they have Mazuri & Oxbow any seed mix other than Higgins is safe for my girls ;)
What would you add with the burgess? Would you add oxbow or mazuri or anything or just the burgess itself?

Lol my hamster is the complete opposite of Moo with the Tiny friends farm Harry hamster mix. I have a Winter White Dwarf and he doesn’t eat the little seeds he just eats the other ones lol 😂

I have a roborovski dwarf I believe that the smallest type of dwarf hamster and he loves Harry Hamster style even though the bits are bigger oddly he tends to leave the smaller pieces

Burgess have discontinued the dwarf hamster mix which sucks. They have replaced it with all in one pellets which is totally unnatural for dwarfs and most will not eat it. I have no idea what they are thinking.

I recently got my hamster and when I got to Petco, to get her there were boxes there. the hamster were arrived. most were screaming, but then I saw a sweet one. the lady picked her up and dropped her by mistake. she fell on her back. she was stunned for a while. poor hamster. I took her home and now she is doing fine. I'm deciding between nutmeg and mocha. she is a dove colored hamster

I'm failing to understand why the bigger pieces can't be broken into smaller pieces...
My hamster has 1 teaspoon of harry hamster 2 or 3 science selective pellets one fourth teaspoon of oats and mealworms and she always eats all of it! I feed this food 1 a day everyday.
Pandas my mice eat Tiny Friends farm rat/mouse food and Oxbow block. The Tiny Friends food for Rat/Mouse is similar to the hamster one except there are no sunflower and Pumpkin seed. These are replaced with dried peas and something else.
I'd just wish they sold the Burgess Dwarf Hamster Harvest in the states.

This is strange because the nutrition facts in the U.K. for Harry/Hazel hamster are different. It has 18% protein, 6% Fat and 6% fibre.
Also, in the U.K. Harry hamster has a guaranteed analysis. My robo actually loves it, but I do add some Burgess because he likes the tiny bits!
The color bits in hazel hamster isn't good for them...

i know his is an old message but do note that the kaytee forti diet pro health hamster contains unsafe ingredients and listed as DANGEROUS in he haming way app. A good alternative would be bunny nature or rodi pet.
