Thanks for this video. Love the channel it’s inspired me and I’m currently self building my own enclosure in my garage. I’m looking at my projector now so this has been invaluable esp the horizontal keystone tip! 👍
Interesting video. Unfortunately I have a room with sloping roof. Now I want to change my actual optima short throw projetor which stands on the ground to a place aside, that does not bother me within the swing. Can you say something, where to position projectors in sloping roof rooms? Projector Benq LK953ST could be a great thing. Kind Regards Michael
If you get a projector with horizontal keystone then you can offset it to one side. You could place your projector on s shelf/tabletop or something if you can’t mount it on the sloping ceiling. I’m sure there are some gadgets on Amazon or DIY workarounds to make a projector lie flat from a ceiling mount 👍🏼⛳️
What about on the floor projectors? Or tripod mounted? I've built a garden golf studio with a retractable roof, so I can't have a ceiling mounted projector. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for making the video!
Hold projector in your hands turned on, move backwards until you fill height of your screen. Mount projector at that distance. Then you should be able to adjust the width of your image to fill your screen using your graphics card settings in Windows 👍🏼⛳️
@@hcpgolf awesome. If I open the box and this projector doesn’t have enough lumens I have to pay a restock. You think the benq I mentioned will be good??
How much natural/ambient light do you have in your room? 3000 lumens is not the brightest, but if you don't have any windows you should be fine. Usual recommendation is 3000--3600 lumens but it all depends on ambient light. My old projector was 2,800 in a room with no windows and it worked well. Not amazing, but worked well enough to use and be enjoyable 👍🏼⛳️
Hi question, am I able to use a projector that only goes to 4:3 aspect ratio to fill a 1:1 aspect ratio screen? If so, do I just make adjustments in GPU custom resolution? My screen is 7x7.
Yes I’m pretty sure that’s what I did with my old projector - it didn’t have 1:1 aspect ration so I just narrowed the image using the GPU software. Sorry I can’t confirm 100% but I’m 99% sure that’s what I did 🙄😂
@@hcpgolf that is very helpful, thanks! So if the projector has 1:1 aspect ratio did you have to make any adjustments in GPU settings or no? Benq advertises that you dont have to make any GPU adjustments with either the lh600st or the lh820st but haven’t seen anyone test that.
Basically the height/width of your screen. Most TV’s these days are 16:9 ratio. My personal preference for a golf sim would be 16:10 but I currently have a 1:1 (which means height is same as width)
Most projectors do various aspect ratios. Some will do 1:1 - when you’re looking to buy one just have a nosey to see if it has 1:1 within its aspect ratio range 👍🏼⛳️
Great info mate thanks for this ! . I would say that a 1080 projector would be fine for most people projecting onto an impact screen , 4k would be better for if using for home theatre as well. what do you reckon ?
I have a limited amount of space for my golf sim like yourself. I can use all my irons and some of my fairway clubs but definitely can’t use my driver. I have both a standard and short throw project but still I can’t fill the entire screen with either on my skytrak set up. I have tried all kinds of links with little to no success. It’s playable but a little disappointing ! Projector selection is still something I haven’t mastered , all though it’s not gc quad or track man quality it does make it feel a little arcade gaming . 🤷♂️
Have you tried adjusting the resolution on your PC/GPU? I think of you can get the projector image to fill the height of your screen, you can adjust the width manually on your GPU, or something like that anyway 👍🏼⛳️
@@hcpgolf Thanks for your input, I run my skytrak set up from an iPad so not too sure how or if it’s possible to adjust anything to help with filling my screen image from top to bottom or left to right?
Very helpful just from a projector standard even with out the golf part. Very good bro
Thank you mate 🙌🏼⛳️
Fantastic breakdown of all things sim projectors. I particularly enjoyed the Projector Central Throw Calculator link🔥
Thanks mate I'm glad it has helped 🙌🏼⛳️
Awesome video again! Thanks much, all the videos will come in handy when I design my simulator!
Thanks mate I’m glad you’ve found them helpful 🙌🏼⛳️
Thanks for the video man. All info with no bs.
I need to connect my projector to my enclosure. My ceiling is 15 ft. I've heard there is an attachment. Can you help?
Awesome video mate, answered a lot of questions for me and exactly what I needed at this stage of my simulator build. 👍
Thanks mate glad it has helped! 🙌🏼⛳️
Hi great videos, I’m new to golf sims, if I bought the Tk710sti which is 4K. Can I use it as a 1080p until I get a laptop
Thanks
Yes you can 👍🏼

Where do you get the image at 4:35 ? Seems like this is perfect to calculate if there would be a shadow or not!
Go to projector central website it has a tool to calculate throw distance 👍🏼⛳️
What would be the best projector for a 10x7.7 screen
Distance 6-8ft or less
Such a good video mate! Appreciate you much.
Thanks mate 🙌🏼⛳️
Nice video! Projectors can be expensive and the make or break factor of a golf sim!
This is so useful. Thanks mate
Glad it helped! ⛳️
I went with the benq tk700sti. Will that work well with my 15 x 10 screen?? In my garage that will be dark and has dark walls.

With my LH820ST I still set my GPU graphics to 1080x1080 in the settings 👍🏼
Can not seem to get nvidia to add custom resolution any ideas?
Without looking at it mate I’d struggle to direct you. Presuming you’ve gone into the nvidia control panel and selected resolution?
what is aspect ratio? Ive seen some at 16/10 and a buddy bought one that was 4/3

I ordered a 10x10 screen so I will be close to the 1:1 so I am assuming a 4:3 projector will be the closest for my set up.
