    In the Soviet Union, it was very common to have "district heating". A centralized facility would run underground pipes filled with boiling water or steam to workplaces and residential buildings for heat. It could be that this system is still in place in the zone. Someone is running one of these district heating plants, presumably to serve an inhabited area, but this system is also supplying heated water to these abandoned labs.

    • @anomalousdugout9557

      Absolutely, if the network of pipes is still in good condition.

    Super interesting as always. I have an idea about maybe the origin of electricity in the labs: As you said it is possible that it is a local source. If we follow this theory I have two technology which can have been used. First: RTGs (RadioThermal Generators) it is a generator who produces electricity with the heat of decaying radioactive elements (Polonium, Plutonium...). It can last for years and is usually used in space probe but maybe a larger version could have been used. It requires nobody to run and is only limited by the decaying time of the radioactive isotope (who could have been produced in the CNPP as one of is principle goal was to produce Plutonium for military usage). The 2 theory is a small scale nuclear reactor who could continue to provide electricity if it in good shape. Both of these theory could explain the presence of radiations in the underground labs and explains the presence of power. (Sorry, if it is hard to understand but my native language is French so I can explain in French if someone want more details)

    What should be the reasonable conclusion is:
    1. Monolith control centre, powered by anomalies, but CNPP still being powerd by normal electricity from another grid
    2. Normal industries and large locations like rostok, army base, warehouses, scientific bunkers, pripyat, underground places, brain scorcher, miracle machine, agroprom underground powered by normal grid electricity because ecologists and military are being funded by govt, hence they also get electricity. some of them like elevators might also be running on backup solutions like engines. Reason is many of places in world which have been abandoned still have electricity as there is no one to monitor it so they still get power, also for the electricity company, it will be almost impossible to track where their ouput is going
    3. Remote locations like in cordon, darkscape and others run on primitive methods like engines, cars, trucks, etc

    well, a light bulb, whether filament or flourescent, can actually remain illuminated for many years if they're turned on and left on, their life is drastically cut short when constantly turned on and off, there is a fire station in the US< that, has for the past 100+ years, had the same light bulb illuminated

  • @shaneridge9557

    I think the fan shown at 1:50 might also be powered, if you look at the trailing edge of the fan blade, it faces to the left meaning that as a natural draft hits the fan, the air would be redirected to the right which would in effect push the fan counter clockwise. Unlike this fan which is spinning clockwise so they may still be turning just on a low power mode

  • @arsmariastarlight3567
    @arsmariastarlight3567 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    -For secret labs, they are most probably powered by CNPP. When the labs are being constructed in secret, the remaining reactors in CNPP was still active, they are never shut down. Only 1 reactor exploded while the rest is still functional, and their "shut down" is merely just for public information. They are used to power the labs. Even 1 active reactor is more than enough, since the plant itself powered the majority of Ukrainian territory before the disaster
    -Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator could be used to power more isolated areas. This radioisotope-powered mini generators could last for several years and are very common in Russia, commonly used to power isolated areas such as lighthouses for a long time without maintenance
    -Periodic emission event throughout the Zone could cause an electrical storm that might be enough to send power surge throughout most of the abandoned facilities to power some systems such as lighting and ventilation. The emission simply occured in short enough interval that the power surge from previous emission still remains in the facility when the next one occured
    -In some places, the electrical anomaly could overlap with power lines, endlessly producing energy to flow through the lines, since electricity produced by anomalies are not limited by insulation and could spawn inside the copper wire itself
    -The lights on the underground areas are noticeably less bright than what it would suggest, despite these are being heavy-duty type that is designed to last for a long time, especially the one that's directly attached on walls. It wouldn't make sense to have the lights at the current level of brightness (which is very dim) when the facility is fully operational, it would've been much brighter back then, especially on underground labs. Under-powering the lights with lower electricity input could significantly extend their service life even further, while still providing enough illumination
    -Some group of Stalkers exploring the facilities in the Zone set up the basic necessities such as electricity, personnel accomodation and living quarters when they established a base camp in that facility

    You brought up so man possibilities, it is really amazing. One thing we can know from the lights is that the current generated is constant (if it was changing the lighrs would flicker) so i think anomalies are unlikelly sources. Also i would guess that the current (in lights) is of quite low power since lightbulbs last longer if they are run at lower power. As for the miracle machine and such i would say they are powered by a separate generator on separate wires since then the point of failure is easier to find and fix. Also XENF 136 said some really cool stuf that sounds really possible. Great video really made me think.

  • @lacikazsemlye2675
    @lacikazsemlye2675 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    So here is my theory:
    Anomalous activity is not a reliable power source because of the instable nature of anomalies (changing positions after each blowout or simply dissappear). Also to maintain a working NPP in the Zone would be a pain in the ass. I think The Group somehow found a way to drain energy from the noosphere with a similiar device that they tried to interact with it.Just think about it, it’s an endless resource.

    • @anomalousdugout9557

    • @jeremieh5009
      @jeremieh5009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As you said in the video, it could be a function of the generators, draining power from the noosphere and spreading it through either physical or anomalous means. Hell, maybe blowouts even contain electrical currents of an anomalous variety, creating some kind of stable electrical anomaly when the anomalous currents hit copper wires, potentially trapping them there, which may be backed up by the electrical anomaly in agroprom underground, which travels back and forth through the hallway, which itself contains broken electrical wires presumably made of copper

    I think the magnetic field theory is the most logical one. Combine that with labs generally being built to be sturdy and have a much better lifetime than your run-of-the-mill residential building? You got yourself Stalker X-labs.
    Though it makes me wonder, was this an intended effect by the C-Con? They would surely know how their doings would effect the Zone so would it not be in their best interest to keep the X-labs unpowered so it is impossible to access? This compromised their research in the end since it mostly helped the Stalkers. Or perhaps, they want them to be found?
    This just keeps raising more questions for me

    Much of the power could come from RTGs( Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators) that each of the important facilities could’ve been equipped with. The Soviets often used these reactors for sustained power generation for off the grid power needs such as deep underground facilities, deep wilderness outposts, and Siberian/arctic outposts that are in areas that infrastructure just doesn’t exist. Some examples of these are EIU-1M, Gong, Beta-M, Sentinel 100F, and SNAP-21 (which was used from Apollo 12-17). Also, those airflow fans could still be powered and running, but moving so slow due to decay and lack of motor maintenance.
