I lowkey really like Zamasu as a villain - he's got an interesting philosophy, and one you could totally imagine a 'god' developing if steered in the wrong direction. As much as I find many of Toriyama's/Toyotaro's villains to be pretty one-note, Zamasu and Black are kinda neat even if, personally, I don't think they explore the true character potential that's there. That's probably just a me thing, though, and it's still plenty enjoyable to watch - especially alongside such an engaged and down-to-Earth reactor!
The writers in super don’t have the brain power to better explore. Like I could totally see black and Zamasu having a valid reason to destroy humans because they humans in real life are evil

Destroyers need to destroy what threatens creation. If Beerus and Shin took their jobs seriously, then Frieza‘s family would be long gone, as they are mutations and freaks of nature even for their race. That‘s why some universes work, and others don‘t, as we see with the tournament of power. Also Champa seems to be even more lazy, as his universe is a hellish wasteland according to it‘s inhabitants.
Since you mentioned likeing Zamasu's voice, it's interesting to note that his English VA is James Marsters who played Lord Piccolo in the horrible live action Dragon Ball Evolution. He was a fan of DBZ and was very disappointed in the film. What a redemption arc.

So Mai Lusting after a 25ish year old Trunks isn't as Creepy as it seems... shes like 40. It would be weirder if she liked the young Trunks. P.S. Also means in the future she has 50+ years of battle experience and a 20's body... so makes sense she'd be the best soldier on the field.

I wondered why reactors assume goku is weaker than zamasu. Zamasu is a kai meaning he is way weaker than goku by default because kais are way weaker than destroyers and goku is near the level of a destroyer.
It's always funny when people think Zamasu will be remotely as strong as Goku, Supreme Kai was terrified of during the Buu arc. I can't really blame you since power-scaling is wack af and all over the place through the series. Goku is one of the strongest BEINGS, not mortals but BEINGS in the multiverse. Zamasu even measuring up to SSJ2 is pretty crazy honestly.

Funny thing is, in DBZ Kakarot they made Trunks know about Android 18 when he goes back and one of the things he says to the Androids when he faces them is "YOu know, I've met you in another timeline. You didn't have to turn out like this..."
He said the same thing in the end of the Cell Arc of DBZ before he destroyed the siblings, he never knew that Android 18 turned good he was just aware that the Android 18 in Goku's timeline is not as evil as the one in Trunks timeline.

To a casual Dragon Ball watcher SSJ and SSJ2 are no different. I guess it's because it hasn't been as radical of a change for Goku and Vegeta (and especially Vegeta, most of the time his hair doesn't even change), as it was for Gohan - or at least Cell Saga Gohan, his teen and adult incarnations don't really change much from SSJ to SSJ2 either. Doesn't help that since Super Vegito, the anime likes to add electricity to regular SSJ transformations sometimes. But yeah, Goku was SSJ2 not only against Zamasu in this fight, but also against Black in the previous episode.
