I just got this same model from a guy off marketplace for free and am really wanting a pistol shelf/rack that holds them up right with the coated barrel wire mount point. This video gave me some great ideas and appreciate you sharing. Also loved the tip on spraying screws. Thanks
I just converted one of these cabinets two days ago into an ammo storage cabinet. I used 3/8 plywood with 1x2 supports on the sides and back. I also made a false floor in the bottom that can be removed to hide small things under. Works great!!!. I plan to glue felt on the shelves to make it look nicer and to keep from getting possible splinters.
I Gotta Say, This Video Has Just Gave Me a Brain Storm Idea!, Since I'm In The Process Of Purchasing A Metal Gun Locker Cabinet., And After I Get My Locker-Cabinet, I'll Be Headed To Lowe's Pick Up A Board, And Some Screws., Plus Some Carpet Squares., So Yes, Thanks For Putting This Video Out There! 👍😎
Nice work! I saw one of these cabinets at a gun show and now that I see the modifications you've done I am considering buying one. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the great video, it is just what I was looking to accomplish when I select a cabinet. You saved me time with your idea for the conversion; I think I'll follow it closely b/c my situation is like yours, a couple long guns and more room needed for smaller stuff. A clever and frugal idea (frugal is a good thing).
You get what you pay for. This is good for detering honest people. However, watch places like Rural King and Dicks Sporting Goods / Academy... they have sales once or twice a year that will blow your mind (and spare your wallet).
Notch the shelves... Watch the lock ... Exactly why I look on you tune first thats gonna save me 30 minutes and at least 4 eye rolls for me being stupid .... Thank you !!
I'm a few years late seeing this. Thank you for doing this video as it gave me some great ideas. I'm about to pick up the 14 gun cabinet, but wanted to add shelving for handguns and ammo, etc. That is a great idea and way to do it. Great job.
It never ceases to amaze me that people criticize a product for what it's not intended to be. It is a rifle cabinet, not a rifle AND accessories cabinet. Stack-on and other makers have other models intended to be gun and accessories storage. 1st you say as a rifle cabinet it's horrible then you give it a 10 shortly later for holding rifles. It's meant to hold and store the long guns, not all the accessories you complain it doesn't do. Do you complain that your car doesn't fly too?
I love all the pink stuff inside of yours. I used mine to store all the toys for my gay tellak lover, dogs, gypsy slave 3abeed, and the ears in formaldehyde from the 4 NATO soldiers I killed back in the war.
i see. thanks for writing back. i'm looking at the $90 one on amazon now, trying to decide what I want. i know you get what you pay for when it comes to anything firearm related, but a sub $100 cabinet like this might be too good to pass up (or too good to be true). I have 2 shotguns and 1 scoped rifle - the other safe i'm looking at is the sentrysafe electric 14gun - but it's almost $450... i really just want something to keep the kids etc out
Like Aneid, I used the inside of the door for handgun storage. But I didn't use pegboard. I used a Rack 'Em 8 gun in-safe door handgun rack. It was meant to be installed in a safe - not a cabinet, but I was able to cut it up and use the pieces to build something usable. h**p://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/515/handgunrack.jpg/
Here's the ammo cabinet that mounts on top of this cabinet. www.amazon.com/Stack-GCB-500-Steel-Pistol-Cabinet/dp/B002TOKR2G/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1503240768&sr=8-8&keywords=stack+on+gun+safe
My 8 gun Stack-On just arrived. I bought the black painted version. I plan to do your mod. I see that you have a total of 4 shelves. Can you tell me approx how many inches are there between the shelves in your cabinet? Excellent video.
Fantastic job. How secure are the lower shelves. I mean do they wiggle under the weight of a large handgun? You did a great job. I think I will try this myself.
We make awesome accessories (scope stand offs, and barrel rests for shorter guns) & door organizers for these cabinets. I think you'll love how they improve the storage by leveraging the space in the door (you left un-used) for things like magazines, shotgun shells, and handguns (etc): www.badgerridgeind.com/store/c25/Accessories_for_STACK-ON_gun_cabinets.html
Great job man 👍🏽 … everything looks efficient to get to.

Great video. I have one and plan on adding shelves. Your method is the most practical. I plan on installing a coat rack in mine.
Nice job. This is going to save me lots of money. I was looking at some of the safes that are hundreds of dollars more.

nice mods, the light color paint is a plus makes it brighter inside and easier to see. also love the carpet on top great addition.

Good work, looks great!
I used to have one of those. great cabinet.
Nice work!!
Nice job! I need one just like it!
great job.
I use this cabinet for ammo storage. I just added a bunch of shelves. I also use it for my porno stash.
They make a companion HANDgun cabinet that sits on and mounts to the top of this cabinet.
Great job!
this is very nice. I plan on doing this, but adding a few more shelves and make it an ammo only container. how sturdy is that pinewood?

You should’ve put the shelf to the right side to avoid the locking mechanism

Very cool!
great video. can you tell me what dimensions you cut the top board to?
well, you give it a zero but you went and looked at it and still purchased it. good mods though
cody salyers A zero because not much for a hand guner person. Well, it is for rifles! This guy!

Excellent video.
I guess is not good to put ar15 and ak47 in this cabinet?
Why not? Locks only keep honest people out anyway.
Works great
No dehumidifier inside the cabinet?
Sand_Deep_Fighter for some people/locations humidity is not a problem.
Not sealed tight anyways. I don't believe it would help.

Did you change the battery in your smoke detector yet?
If you hadn't made this comment, I would've.

Nice job!, please change the batteries in your smoke alarm, that chirping is pretty distracting.
Thanks! Very helpful!
