Thank you so much. You have helped me put new ribbons on the WWI medals from my husband’s grandfather. I shall wear them (on the right hand side, of course) when selling poppies
@@windsormedals And I proudly wore my father's 5 medals from serving in PNG in WW2 on ANZAC Day here in Australia last Thursday for the first tine, so thanks again.
Would it be possible if you could do a video on how to do court mounted Medals I think you’re very interesting. I would certainly love how to learn how to do this because it’s an absolute skill I think it be great to know 👍👍👍👍
If for example you were swing mounting an OBE set, you’d presumably have to increase the height of the ribbon from 10cm to something more? (Like how the board for court mounting goes from 7cm to 8cm) What I’m asking is how long would you measure the ribbons before cutting and attaching to the brooch?
How does it work if you have Bosnia, Kosovo, cyprus ribbons that are wider. Iv never had to do swing mounted but would do it if asked. Just the wider Ribbons worry me a bit getting the fit correct on any size bar.
Yes good question, so what you do is get a pair of scissors after you have sewn the ribbons on. Then you cut in to the 2 ribbons on outside edge near the machine stitch so it then fits over the medal brooch.

@@pippacarron1861 so happy means a lot to carry legacy forward 👍
Thanks for sharing this information.
No worries 👍👍
Thank you so much, just swing mounted my Mum’s WAAF WWII medals and my Gt Uncle’s medals from WWI
@@lorswilk excellent 👍 glad you understand my instructions
I would have thought you would use a felt table topper to prevent scratches in the medals. The table top appears quite rough.

Yes you could make it a bit deeper to suit
Thanks very much, cheers! Ended up with a set with an MVO, OBE and order of at John to swing mount and it’s surprised me just a bit! :)
Great
Another great video @windsormedals
Thanks !👍
@@windsormedals your welcome. Are you going to work on doing court mounted video as that would be nice to see also.
@@joshuamccready8385 I will do eventually but not for a long time..

Just looked at my video it shows you how to do it but with wide ribbons you just cut in a bit further than smaller ribbons
Thank you So much really appreciate it 👍
Can you mount 10 medals to a 5 space bar (or do you need a 6?)
You can use a 5 but 6 would be better
@@windsormedals Why would 6 be better? Surely 5 is better for marching?
@@jbol2454 would be stronger and more sturdy if you use quality brooches
@@windsormedals Very kind of you to suggest that, which ones do you recommend?
