I recently watched an episode of Teen Titans Go! where the Titans teamed up with Freakazoid to take down the Lobe. As soon as Freakazoid and Lobe saw each other, they immediately started catching up like old friends.
it's that unique style of 4th wall breaking. The characters know they're doing a show, but they aren't like "this is a cartoon and I'm not real" they're like "I don't get paid enough to get injured like this" and it's the best comedy available.
A brilliant moment. For the curious: This is an actual song from the operetta "H.M.S. Pinafore" by Gilbert and Sullivan! I feel like only "Freakazoid" is the only kids' cartoon that would indulge in a minute-long joke based on a century-old operetta that very few children had likely ever heard of. :p

Cave Guy’s lack of shoes while tiptoeing kinda bothers me, and I don’t know why. Not from a lore-based perspective, or anything. Maybe it’s just his animation? I’m not saying I hate the animation in general, because I don’t. I just feel slightly unnerved with his particular feet. And no, it’s not anything like THAT, so don’t even start, lol.
Because lots of people in animation liked to slip in referential gags. A notable number of them were fans of Gilbert and Sullivan. The difference from when this was made in the pre-everyday-internet days kids weren't as sheltered as they are now. Just sitting in front of a cable tv commercial break exposed you to culture from decades before you were born on a daily basis. If you were exposed to G&S musicals by then they got it. If you weren't they'd probably discover it later and be "ooohh I get that joke now".
