Hi Laura! Following your example, I got myself some Prince Tut grasses. They are slightly shorter that the King variety. I planted them near our swimming pool in full, bright Texas sun. I do water them every day, but that said, I have to mention that we went away for 10 days this summer and I left them with nothing but an inverted bottle of water (2 L) and they did amazingly well. Prince Tut is short, but very bushy and green. It looks lovely in arrangements. Thank you so much for the inspiration! The Tut grasses will definitely be making a comeback in my garden next year!
The summer is Dallas this year was hot and relatively dry, but the Tut grasses seem to love it. I have pebble mulch near the pool, and I believe that it radiates more heat than wood mulch, but, again, Prince Tut doesn't seem to mind that at all. Good luck with your King Tut experience. This grass is a real joy!
The King Tut grasses and Bubble Gum Supertunias look beautiful! I will definitely write those down to plant next spring. Pregnancy becomes you; I hope that you're feeling great.
I planted King Tut for several years in a pot with the SuperTunias. Because it grows so big I downsized to the smaller Baby Tut & Junior Tut and was very happy with the results. Vista Bubblegum is my favorite! People stop and ask me about them!
Beautiful! I bought one King Tut plant and kept it in a container. I put a shallow bowl underneath with a bit of water in it to keep it moist. It started to turn yellow. Once I took the bowl way and the water could drain freely all the the new growth was green and healthy.
I have been growing the dwarf variety Prince Tut in some of my containers for the past two years and I just love them. It's such a unique look. To accommodate their desire for more moisture, I place the pot inside a bucket in the container so that the Prince Tut is basically sitting in water all the time.
I'm glad that you updated us! I love how the King Tut grass and the Patunias look together. I will definitely try this combo. At my new house, next spring. Thank you.
Those look amazing. Definitely one to repeat. Love the combination. Pink is my fav color so those are perfect. Can't get over how much all the plants have grown and filled in.
Laura & Aaron, you make it seem so easy, but I know this takes hard work. Thx so much for tips & suggestions..... I think my hubby is tired of hearing me say: "Laura said this, she said that, did you watch the videos I shared with you?" LOL 😉🐱💚
Been growing king tut for eight years now. In ground an in pots. To help with watering, cut up cheap sponges and mix in soil under the grass, or add the product "soil moist" to your mix. Check out princess tut, proven winners renamed it prince tut. Great in pot, only grows 3 to 4 feet height and has a stunning plume on it. A MUST HAVE!
I keep all my tropical plant inside for winter, the papyrus goes in a fish tank with fish, they love it, but most important is to have great light, for 8 hours at least. you can make a tropical room in your house. It is very nice in the winter, and because is more humid, your skin will love it too.
OMAGOSH!! W👀👀W!! I'm zone 5 too...I picked up a cpl "PRINCE TUT" just to see what they would do...bout 2/3 months ago...I put 2 in the ground & 1 in a big container w purple petunias(not super) & the container took off & went wild...in ground held up but didn't do nearly as well.. they got less sun..still, I'm in love ..I've already decided they will be a "staple" & I can't wait to get my hands on those "KINGS"!! It's just so frustrating to have to wait til next season!!😩THANX MUCH!!!
I loveeeee papyrus grass. It’s a beautiful perennial in my zone 9 garden and it’s survived zone 8 winters with snow and ice with only slight die back!! I recently moved and brought nothing with me plant wise, so totally buying more of these.
That's so cool. Please do an update when you are taking them out for the fall and if you will be planting new ones. You are right about not adding any planters or hanging baskets at the back.
Hey Laura, I love these grasses. I was inspired to pick up some myself and tried the prince tut and baby tut. They do really like the water. like you stated and have just continued to produce new shoots again and again. Sooo impactful, too. I put the Prince Tut in my childhood wagon I am using as a large flower pot and it is just spectacular as my thriller. Although the Baby Tut is much shorter, it has put on quite a show, too, as a thriller in a small pot with draping petunias, potato vine, etc. just because of it's uniqueness and mounded heighth above the trailers. I will try some of them again in the next season, if available. Love them.
So beautiful garden! You're an amazing person and a great resource of gardening info! Thank you Laura for sharing your great gardening knowledge. I enjoyed your Vlog!💐🌷🌹
Thanks for post. I just bought one and didn't know it wld grow that tall so I will obviously need to move it. Here it will be a perennial so I will buy more to fill in a bare spot.
Gorgeous! 😍 I love supertunia vista bubblegum and was a bit skeptical of the Tut grasses, but this combination has me sold. It looks both majestically sturdy yet graceful. I think the king tut looked much better than the ones with the purple supertunias by your sunroom and the two containers by your balcony. I really hope to see you use more Kings Tut in the future and can hardly wait to see what you introduce to us next 😁🤗😍
They are majestic for sure. I planted Prince Tut in two large south-facing urns on my front porch. They are gorgeous. Definitely a fave. Laura, did you plant them two feet apart?
I am binge watching the vlogs from the beginning since I just joined Garden Answer this year. Wouldn’t King Tut Grass and Castor Bean “Trees” make an awesome start on a Dr Seuss Garden!
Wow! I went to four nurseries yesterday. Saw some prince tut and thought of you. Was looking for bobo hydrangeas; sold out everywhere. Did get a buddleia buzz magenta though!
Just beautiful. I have a question. We planted purple fountain grass and last night we had strong winds come through and pushed them over. Can I help straighten them up somehow? I just LOVE your channel. What a team.
Hi. How often do you water these grass? Because you mentioned that they thrive in a very wet or moist soil but you plant them directly on the ground. Thank you
I absolutely remember when you planted them. Amazing! I was concerned they would flop over at some point but they look perfect. I'll definitely incorporate a few into my garden. ;)
Hi Laura, I know you intend to treat the King Tut as annual, but would you think of digging one up and putting it in the polytunnel as an experiment, to see if it will over winter? Love you videos xx
I bought a King Tut Papyrus and it looks awful - I have not planted yet so it is still in the small container I bough it in.It is still alive but looks kind of bedraggled at the top of the green grass stalks. I must have neglected it by not watering often enough. Can I trim the brown off or cut it all the way down to allow itself to revive?? Thank you!
I really love the King Tut Grass. If I plant them in a pot, how large a pot should I put them, since it grows from so small to so huge? And if you were to transfer them to pots during winter months, do you think they would survive the transfer? Thanks for making the videos, I look forward to them all the time : )
Hello! My name is Jessica. I saw in one of your video's that you said some brands of flower bulbs are better that others. I wondered what brands you would recommend? I wanted to put out some more buttercups and tulips in my yard. Thank you!! Keep up the great videos.
In Spain i live in a 8 zone on the middle of countryhouse and im going to try this summer because its possible that resist the winter, with white calla plants and alocasias near the shower of the pool
I grew up In Redondo BCH Ca an we had an area in our backyard that didnt drain well. So my mother being the gardener she was decided that the Tut's would be perfect for that spot ? That was up until my sister an I decided that they made better swords ! To say the least Mom was livid with us LMAO.
How do you edge on a boarder like that where the supertunias come over the grass? I'm trying to get better at edging so the grass does not creep into the beds so much.
That looks so amazing! I love it! I wonder, dont you use rainwater? We store rainwater as much as we can, and water the plants and the veggie with it. But we have a small garden.
They sure have grown. O.O Either way, do you have any good suggestions for any shade loving perenials for a trellis? I have a spot under a big red beech that I would love to have some climbing flowers on my trellis there but I'm not sure what to choose. The area are shaded pretty much most of the day due to the tree over it. I also live in Denmark which is about the same gardening zone as you. Any tips? :)
Wow! That's crazy! Super cool 👍🏼👍🏼 Can I plant those grasses over here in my garden in Scotland? Do you have any idea they will survive here if I get them online?
i have dwarf papyrus, though its growing quite tall, but the stems are staying thin, the plant stems are starting to bend due to the thinness of the stalk, and when it rains, the heads become heavier and the stalks bend and fold. any ideas on what i can do, how to make it thicker
0:20 I just wanna appreciate that chilled cat
Thanks, Laura. The updates with tips of the various areas of your9 garden are very much appreciated!
King Tut is my absolute favourite plant ever. Beautiful garden!

Saurabh Parashar Hi fellow Texan! I've been wanting to plant Prince Tut, also, but wasn't sure how it would fare in our heat.
Jen Gus thanks for this info! Good to know there are smaller varieties.
Beautiful! I bought one King Tut plant and kept it in a container. I put a shallow bowl underneath with a bit of water in it to keep it moist. It started to turn yellow. Once I took the bowl way and the water could drain freely all the the new growth was green and healthy.
O my my!!!!! What a majestic sight!! Elegant and incredibly beautiful.!!

The before and after photos are AMAZING! I'm definitely getting some S.T. Bubblegum next year!
That looks amazing. My wife puts them into our tall containers as a centrepiece every year and people always comment on them..
What a lovely combination! Very dramatic and gorgeous. Love it
I'm glad that you updated us! I love how the King Tut grass and the Patunias look together. I will definitely try this combo. At my new house, next spring. Thank you.
That area would have been fun to see in time lapse(sp) video. Beautiful!
Those look amazing. Definitely one to repeat. Love the combination. Pink is my fav color so those are perfect. Can't get over how much all the plants have grown and filled in.
I get so happy when you upload a video!

Love all the info you produce in a short time frame. Truly very informational. Look forward to all your updates.

I love that grass!👉👵👈
How neat would it be if you did a flower arrangement with a King Tut 😀 👌
Both plants look gorgeous together! In the future I'd like to plant the sweet petunia ( bubble gum) I think they look so pretty.
GORGEOUS, YOUR RIGHT, THE WINDOW BOXES WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST.
omg love it. how much they have grown. i would love to try this at home.

Just might grow it in a container, on my deck , it's a beautiful plant. ..
Keep it soaking wet also try to put it into a pot without a draining system 👌🏾
Wow! I went to four nurseries yesterday. Saw some prince tut and thought of you. Was looking for bobo hydrangeas; sold out everywhere. Did get a buddleia buzz magenta though!
Can you over winter them inside
Just beautiful. I have a question. We planted purple fountain grass and last night we had strong winds come through and pushed them over. Can I help straighten them up somehow? I just LOVE your channel. What a team.
Perfect, thanks for give us this beauty!!
Hi. How often do you water these grass? Because you mentioned that they thrive in a very wet or moist soil but you plant them directly on the ground. Thank you
Will you repeat it this year? It looks so good.
I absolutely remember when you planted them. Amazing! I was concerned they would flop over at some point but they look perfect. I'll definitely incorporate a few into my garden. ;)
So beautiful!
Hi Laura, I know you intend to treat the King Tut as annual, but would you think of digging one up and putting it in the polytunnel as an experiment, to see if it will over winter? Love you videos xx
I was thinking the same thing! I have them in pots. Wonder how they’d do indoors with light and heat? 🤷🏽♀️
I bought a King Tut Papyrus and it looks awful - I have not planted yet so it is still in the small container I bough it in.It is still alive but looks kind of bedraggled at the top of the green grass stalks. Wow beautifully grown in such a short period of time. Way to go!! Do you think they would do well in containers like clay pots?
Oh my stars!! They got huge so fast!! Awesome!!! :-)
Wow! Very pretty..
Looks amazing. I love how King Tut looks. :)

Mine are not doing well at all this year. I’m wondering if something went wrong with them 🤷🏻♀️
Hi, they are beautiful, thanks for the update.
Do I need to water them every single day for one time?
Do I need to fertilize the plant (Water soluble fertilizer) bi weekly ?
In Spain i live in a 8 zone on the middle of countryhouse and im going to try this summer because its possible that resist the winter, with white calla plants and alocasias near the shower of the pool

So that means you planted this in July. Would it be a problem to plant this up in May?
How do you edge on a boarder like that where the supertunias come over the grass? I'm trying to get better at edging so the grass does not creep into the beds so much.

Anything like the king tut for zone 6a?
Hi .was wondering could I plant them down here in Georgia
Beautiful!!!! 🌸🌸🌸💚💚💚
u mentioned that the grass likes moist soil, i recently saw a show on tv mentioning a "rain garden", know anything about them?
Wow! That's crazy! Super cool 👍🏼👍🏼
