They all look like nice places to live. Having fewer people and low crime rate is very appealing to me.

I lived in Rhinelander and Sugar Camp, Wisconsin in the 70's. Both are nice communities with wonderful people. The Oneida county Courthouse with it green Tiffany glass dome is so beautiful especially at night all lit up. I left to go out of state for college and decided to stay in Texas, but as I grow older the Summers are becoming unbearable. Though I live in the beautiful Lake and Garden District if Dallas in the White Rock Lake area, I miss the natural beauty of Wisconsin. Yes, the winters can be harsh especially in the Northwoods, but living in town makes it easier. Wisconsin is just a nice place to live

I'm a resident of Wisconsin, 4 miles outside the 3rd largest town population, less than 1000 people, in this county. We view a couple of those on the list as undesirable given any of the named aspects of the cities mentioned such as crime. We have no crime. Litter is literally a big deal to us....drop your trash and we become a kicked hornets nest. It's beautiful, safe, inexpensive, very rural and comfortable. I retired here, on the young side for that, and keep very busy

Hello. My husband and I are retired in S Nevada and wanting to move to Wisconsin after visiting his daughter,SIL, and young granddaughters in Janesville. They had moved there 2 1/2 yrs ago and totally love it…and so did we while on our visit. My husband is NJ born and raised and I’m California born and raised AND we both are small-town mentally and emotionally. We need this move…it’s time. I’m searching to buy and find myself asking anyone from WI lots of questions. Thank you for letting me share and for your comments.

One caution on this video: Some of the scenic drone views do not represent the specific area being spoken about. One example: In the DePere segment, a view of the river with a rail line running alongside it is definitely not the Fox River in the DePere area. Otherwise, as a Badger born and bred (and St. Norbert grad), I enjoyed the piece.

These are all nice places to live. However, I prefer towns half the size of those in the article. I’ve been in all of the communities in the article but as I said I much prefer those in the 3,000-6,000 population size. Some that I likes as I traveled in my job during my working years were Ripon, Waupaca, Mayville, Chilton, New Holstine, Sauk City, Richland Center and several others that are even , in
my opinion better places to live and be engaged in the community. My top three were Mayville, Waupaca, and Ripon.

Winters are harsh and can last as long as mid April. The winters have been unusual for many years. When I was a child if it didn’t snow before my birthday it would absolutely snow on my birthday. I remember one winter it snowed in October 1 day and it did melt quickly then after Christmas it snowed and the snow stayed until mid April. My birthday is November 10th, but past few years no snow before or on my birthday.

Not to be the grammar police, but also, not for nothing: In the Stevens Point section, Schmeeckle is pronounced /shmeek-lee/ not /schmeek-ul/. And in "Menasha," the middle syllable doesn't get an umlaut sound - it gets rendered like the NA in "nanny." Say it like the locals ;)

I purposely picked my little city for the non diversity. 91.94% White, 2 or more races 4.24%, Native Americans 2.98% & other race 0.49%.
