    There might not be mountains in Wisconsin, but it’s not especially flat everywhere. When you head out west, there’s lots of hills. Even where I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, there are a lot of hills.

    If you want hills go to the Driftless area. I think you have an excellent grasp of Wisconsin. I am always curious about people's take who are from other parts of the country.

      Thank you! A little while after making this video I spent a weekend in the Driftless area. It's beautiful out there and very different from the east part of the state

    Cheese curds can be eaten as fried, or as fresh cheese you can buy at just about anywhere in Wisconsin .

    Lived in 12 other states and rate WI one of the best places to live. And yes awesome outdoor weather and life can be achieved here with lot's of lakes, rivers and streams to fun in for fishing and cooling off.

    Pro tip: stick with butter burgers and frozen custard at Culver's. Their curds are crap. If you really want literally heart stopping fried cheese curds, get them at a non-chain local restaurant.

    I just bought a house in Adams-Friendship and love it there! I love how kind the people are there. I'm from Illinois where people don't pay any attention to you as you walk past them or bother to say hello ever. I also really like how my GF and I can go out to dinner and eat and drink till our hearts content and the bill is about $50! lol

    OMG I'm moving from WI to Cali looking up videos on what to pack, whatnot. I saw your thumbnail- i know EXACTLY which bench you are sitting on, it's in my hometown. I have quite a few pictures with that peninsula to your right in the background

      For fresh cheese curds (which are the bomb), look for some of the cheese factories in the area. Many of them have small shops they sell out of. Same can be said if you're looking for some meats. Added note, good cheese curds squeak when you eat them.

    • @TheChristianna321
      @TheChristianna321  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @suzieparis6821 it depends on the area. Like most places, the cities tend to be more liberal, and the rural places tend to be more conservative. Generally it's a nice blend

    Oddly, I've found one of the best fried cheese curds are at a local bowling alley, served with marinara.
    But do you miss fire ants? 🐜

      It's a great place! The people are wonderful! I love the food, the scenery, all the different weird events. If you like the idea of being in a small town that is near an airport and has a bunch of cute locally owned businesses and restaurants, then there is nowhere better! The winters do take some getting used to, but they haven't been as bad as I was expecting

      From Wisconsin and living in Florida for the last twenty years. We bought a second home back home, in Wisconsin, a few years ago and plan on spending the bulk of retirement up there. The reverse of what most do. We miss the people up there tremendously.

    • @Zak_How
      @Zak_How 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Smedley61 That is encouraging to hear 😊. I think we have decided for sure this is where we are going, now we're just pin pointing exactly where. Hey let me ask ya, would you say car insurance is cheaper in Florida or Wisconsin? I know there's a lot that can make it vary. But I was just trying to get a general idea

    • @Smedley61
      @Smedley61 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Zak_How Car and homeowners insurance are far cheaper in Wisconsin. We have perfect driving records. In Florida we're paying about $2400/6 months for two cars. In Wisconsin, for a car we have up there, we're paying about $500/6 months. Same insurance carrier (Progressive). Homeowners we keep lowering the coverage on the place in FL to keep it manageable. We pay about 2500/year with Citizens (after our previous insurer raised our rate to $6500/year this last fall). In Wisconsin our homeowners with better coverage is about $600/year. Both houses are comparable in value.

    I dunno. My mother was born in Sheboygan, WI and moved to San Diego in 1948 when she was still in her teens. She has been gone, lo these many years, but in the middle of winter when it's 17 degrees in Sheboygan and 71 degrees in San Diego, I still offer up thanks to her for making the move and making a life for her future family in Southern California. 🙂

    The UP does belong to Michigan. You're not far from Munising. I highly recommend you visit it sometime. I went in early September and it was beautiful. Waterfalls, nature hikes, pictured rock national lakeshore. I went with my boyfriend who during that trip became my fiance. Afterwards we came down your way for a wedding in Oconomowoc. I managed to avoid the cheese curds, but one thing about the Midwest I miss living in Colorado is fried cauliflower with ranch. 🤌

    • @TheChristianna321

      Congratulations on your engagement! Cheese curds are amazing, at least most of the time. I haven't seen fried cauliflower in restaurants, but I made some with my sister awhile back, and it was delicious

      Read the history of why Michigan got it, the federal government gave Michigan the U.P. over the Toledo strip conflict. Without that nonsense most of it would have been part of Wisconsin.
