My cats love water. We actually have to keep their water bowl in the bathtub because they keep playing in it.
They claim my socks, hats, and blankets all the time. And they totally hog the bed! 🤣

This was a really good sesion. A lot of things I didn't understand in their behavior but didn't freak out over was explained. And there were a lot of good suggestions. Thanks for presenting this.

I had two cats that would run beside and lick my sweaty legs after a bicycle ride. I knew why they did it, but all I wanted to do is get to the shower. It made me laugh every time😹🤣

Ive done the slow blink several times to see the reaction??? Herd to determine. I have a male cat who does almost all of the listed characteristics. I loved the kleptomanic cat😂 sock description. Made me laugh.

When a kitten, my cat would lie on her back and when you went to scratch her tummy, she'd latch onto your arm with all four paws. I'd then use her to wipe the floor until she let go and ran off; a few minutes later she'd come back for the same. I'd refer to her as my "swiffer cat."

I'm learning to be a hyperrealism sketch artist and will sit for hours drawing and sketching, and my sketchbook is very huge so my cat likes to come and sit on my paper while I draw. I will sit for hours on end and be totally in the zone while my cat sleeps on one part of my paper, after an hour or so, I'll look up and say, "oh you're still here", and start petting her. When she walks on the paper I'm sketching, the graphite gets on her paws. Then when she walks on the other parts of the paper, there's small paw prints all over the place and I feel like she also wants to draw with me or leave her signature on our masterpiece. 😅

Lately I have a alarm clock jumping on my bed every morning to make bisciuts every where around my whole body. Its so gentle and carefully ending the kneeting by standing by my head showing her but. When she was younger she allways sleept by my feet now she sleeps all around the house and come jumping in the morning. So nice and beautifully

Presenting their butts is also something they do as kittens with their mothers. The moms clean them.

My cat wipes her butt on the rug sometimes I dont get mad at her because I would definitely do the same thing with just a litter box with no toilet paper.

My second kitty was a tiny tortie calico and I had to bottle feed her and stimulate and bathe. As she,Jazmine Lee,, was a unique and awesome cat!! I will never have another like her!! She would protect me like a dog would! If anyone got to close she would help them understand that my mom and I will make you bleed!! The guy I am with Jazmine would go on her back feet and chase him full teeth and claws and she LOVED LOVED LOVED getting into the shower or bath with me. She never freaked out and scratched me loved a tubby anyway and anytime. Now the boys screamed like you were skinning them alive. Unfortunately all 3 of my babies have crossed the rainbow bridge. I trap spay neuter and find homes for the feral abandoned abused fur kids because they deserve it.

Cats are so very mysterious creatures and it’s this aura of mysterious which makes them so attractive and unique. Therefore, interpretative narrarations are often fallacious and misleading. Not everything that is not understood lends itself to an explanation. It needs to stand as it is. 😅

You offer four reasons to explain why cats stretch when greeting you. None of them are correct.
If your cat sleeps in your bedroom, probably on your bed, then when you get up in the morning, your cat will rise too, hop off the bed and have a good stretch. It will then lead you to the landing and expect you to follow it downstairs for breakfast. If you are delayed, because you have to put some clothes on, your cat will wait patiently on the stairs and, when you eventually join it, it will do another quick stretch and lead you down the stairs (I'm describing a two-storey-house situation).
If your cat has spent the night outdoors, when you go downstairs in the morning you will usually find it outside your door, waiting to be let in. When you open the door, it will do a big stretch and then come in and lift its head to be stroked.
Okay, those are the two circumstances when your cat will stretch when greeting you. So, why does it do it?
It is not simply for its physical wellbeing, as you suggest, because it can stretch any time it wants, not just when greeting you.
It is not demonstrating vulnerability and trust: it doesn't show its belly when stretching.
It is not marking its territory: it does that by rubbing its neck against doors, staircases and corners.
It is not guiding you towards its rear end either.
But yes, you are hitting the nail on the head when you say it is a form of communication. Doh! Of course it is. But what is it trying to communicate?
It is telling you, in no uncertain terms, that it sees you as a family member, that you do things together, like getting up in the morning and having breakfast. This is straightforward bonding. You and your cat are friends, are on the same wavelength. But your cat doesn't actually think it about it, it's automatic. It's pure instinct on its part.
    I hope that helps.

Why do they follow you? Their lives are boring. If anything happens it's as a result of something YOU do. What are they gonna do , go read a book ?
