So great to see this, this Father’s Day Weekend! Please give your dad a big hug, and tell him Happy Fathers Day (and Go Army, Beat Navy!). One day a year, but together we are one. I have his 6 and know that he has mine!

Lavender Dad and Lass ! (Lass is Scottish for Daughter. 😄)
      Saying Hi from Sunny Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . . .
Wow we are having the best Summer Temps ever ! OK it's mid to upper 20s C (75+F) that's Hot for us. . . 🌞
Mind you its great Lavender growing conditions for those beautiful fragrant Flowers.
I have lots of Lavender in my Garden : English varieties, and the French
Papillion 'butterfly' type too. . . Just lovely. 🤗
My Bees really love those Lavender Flowers and the Nectar from them. Yes it makes wonderful Honey.
      Tip : Beekeeping
If you have any young Transplant Trimmings, off Cuts. Or Harvest Stalks, Debris after the Flower Cutting :
Keep a little to add to your Bee Smoker. 👍 You will have the best and calmest Bee Hive Inspection ever.
And the Beek will be chilled out as well. 😉
      🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
      Happy Beekeeping 2023

Do you Sell Homestead Items ?
      Tip : Baking
Don't know if you like Shortbread : (Cookies.) Its one of Scotlands Nations Food favourites.
It's amazing if you make "Lavender Shortbread" !
The True Scottish Recipe takes the " 2, 4, 6" level of Ingredients List. Easy to remember.
x2 Ounces of White Sugar. x4 Ounces of Chilled Butter. x6 Ounces of Plain White Flour (not bread flour !)
And a Sprinkling of Dried Lavender Flower Buds. Yes for you Guys at the Lavender Farm.
Others : Try Lemon Zest, or Orange Zest instead.
      Recipe :
Add Sugar and Sifted Flour to a Bowl. Then Cube that Chilled Butter into small pieces.
With your Finger Tips (or in brief episodes Blitz in a Food Processer : You want crumbly Dough ! Not a combined sticky mess.)
      'Cool' is key here.
If your Hands or Kitchen is really warm. Add the Bowl to a Fridge and Cool your hands under Cold Water. : You want a light Crumbly pressable smooth Dough (not oily, because the butter got 'warmed up' to much !)
Roll out Dough until 1/4 to 1/2 " (inch) thickness. A Marble Counter Top or Glass Cutting Board works too. Or if its just a Wooden Surface : Chilled the Dough well before rolling it out.
If Cut Cookie Shapes it's:1/4 " Thickness.
If Traditional Scottish style "Fingers" : its 1/2 "
Re Fingers : Roll Dough out to a Rectangle : Cut with a Knife into x1 Inch Strips Long. And then Cut again, across so each Finger is approximately x3 Inches in size. (Think Fish Fingers !) 😄
Get a Fork and use those x4 Tines to indent a regular even imprint of x4 Dots down each Shortbread. This helps them bake evenly. And looks pretty in the end presentation.
Add to a non Stick Cookie / Baking Tray,
Sprinkle with some White Sugar and a few Lavender Flowers.
Bake in a preheated Oven around 180 C for around x15 to x20 Minutes or so. You want them baked but still 'Pale' in colour.
They should be Baked and Firm to the touch.
While still warm : Sprinkle on more Lavender Sugar / or regular Sugar if doing Plain or other flavours.
Allow to cool. Store in a Tin. And Enjoy !
They should 'Snap' and melt in your Mouth.
Once you eat one. You will eat one they are gone. 😎
(Don't bother with any butter substitute it will not be nice. Shortbread needs to be buttery!
      For future Baking . . .
If you have time to do so. [Prepare ahead of time.]
Get a large Lidded Jar to store say x1lB (x16 oz) of your White Sugar.
Add about x4 oz of your Dried Lavender Flowers to this Sugar, store in a dark Cool place. . . to get "Baking Lavender Sugar" in a few weeks and or months. The Lavender Flower 'essence' will steep into the Sugar to flavour it.
Don't attempt to try and replicate this using Lavender Essential Oil : it's way to Strong and Pungent ! It's horrible to eat, so use that infused Sugar instead. No problem adding more Sugar and Lavender Flours to a New Jar, shake it up and add the original infused Sugar on top. That way you will have Lavender Sugar ready to make Lavender Shortbread all Season long. Sweet. 🙃

A couple tips on the flow super. Don’t add it until the brood box is 95% full. And make sure you add some old beeswax onto each side of each flow frame. They will take to it much faster.

I just planted lavender near the mailbox on a bank for the bees to forage on, its a work in progress. Have several plants started from seed and growing them in pots. I ordered some liner plugs from a lavender farm to get different varieties, super easy to propagate cuttings.

People thought it was too humid in illinois plus alot of people I talked to were buying Spanish lavender at the big retail stores saying it's a perennial when it's a zone 7 plant and we are zone 5b
