You do know, if you look under the divider, there’s an handle that you can pull up & down manually.

Thanks, I’ll check again, mine didn’t seem to want to move without the electric motor doing the work…

I had to replace the little shock struts in my wife's clk350 convertible. It doesn't have the button to operate that. You just pull it down. But I still have problems with the top going down. All the codes my scanner shows, while moving everything manually, each switch and sensor reads when it's open or closed. So I'm not sure why it doesn't work. I'm wondering it the adjustment at the top of the windshield is out of adjustment. I don't know if that would cause the whole problem.

Hi, yes, I saw there were quite a few videos out there for the mechanical system and that the gas struts seemed to be the problem. The electronic system in mine doesn't have gas struts, it just gets different problems! 😂 Honestly, apart from this video, I have almost zero experience with electric roofs but a couple of weeks ago, I did help a friend do a "reset" on his BMW roof. Apparently it (and the sensors etc) had gotten out of sequence. The procedure was to put the roof fully down and then there were a series of buttons you pushed to reset it. Also, there is a really good forum post here about problem solving the roof, which may hep you. mbworld.org/forums/clk-class-w208/519324-clk-convertible-top-problem-solving-common-electrical-hydraulic-system-failures-3.html Thanks, Phil

    Bien hecho amigo !
You can see if it went to a garage they wouldn't go to this trouble as it must have taken a few hours ??
After doing the work do u think buying the £170 ebay replacement then fitting might have been as good an option ?
When I lived in Spain I fixed 3 SLK hydraulic roofs !
So I know ur pain, with triggering sensors and poor access ??
Think I had to lie on my back in the seat facing the wrong way with my foot over the headrest 😂

Gracias, ¡es bueno saber de ti! Yes, agree, it took a lot of hours (I think maybe 4 + the time to repair on the bench?) and a bit of a trial and error to get it working properly. Yes, maybe in hindsight a replacement unit would have been easier 👍😃 Honestly, the access was really bad but at least in my car, it has rear seats to lay on, couldn't imagine doing the same job in an SLK two seater! Cheers, Phil
