Well Ive never played Resident Evil and im terrified of horror games, and I was watching this and I heard someone whisper "Ethan?" and I almost had a heart attack, I live alone.
Well Resident Evil 4 to 6 were more like shoot-and-run games than Resisent Evil 1-2 which were the actual survival horror game, the core mechanics of RE. And RE7 is getting back in it's roots once again.
Actually RE4 is the reason the series went to shit. 4 was so good and revolutionary other games copied it including Gears which popularized cover based co-op shooting that RE5 would later on copy and starting the series quick decent into shit
Man, I wish I could play this game again without knowing anything. This game was so cool and scary. I still remember the first time I played it when the first molded appeared, I almost jumped out of my chair.

@NovaLion the only time I felt I needed to take a break was from fear. This game is so good, and really the only thing i dont like about it (so far at least) is just a game mechanic, and that's the lack of ammo combined with the shots to the head needed to kill the molded.
I don't care what the purists say, this is one of the best RE titles, and I really hope RE8 has an FPS perspective as well with at least one character from RE7
From the recent leaks, it's apparent they're going with FPS again. Good choice imho, this game was great, it included everything which makes a fantastic resident evil title.
When the leaks are true Resident Evil 8 will be announced very soon. You'll play as Ethan in a European landscape and it's supposed to have a medieval touch. Chris Redfield is also rumored to reappear but with a twist (Doppelganger Redfield from the End of ResidentEvil8)

I don't think we ever thought about how excellent this trailer captured the game. It's like, you never see a trailer take the entire meaning of a game and fit it in so perfectly. Resident Evil 7 is a masterpiece and I hope Resident Evil VIllage follows up the same way.

Already beaten, phenomenal game. Scary as hell, some really innovative boss fights, and the FPS controls make it feel tank-like which brings back the tension of the older games (plus puzzles and herbs galore and ammo hoarding). Best RE yet, even better than 4.

This game looks and plays great, solid 60 fps and some of the most detailed lighting and textures I've seen on a console. The atmosphere of the game as far as I know, has no equal. It's kind of funny though, I think CAPCOM tapped every ounce of juice in the PS4 to make this game look and run the way it does, I have never heard the internal fan(s) in my PS4 work so hard ever before lol.
This game was AMAZING! There were definitely parts that scared the living hell out of me, but that just made me want to see more. The story is amazing, the characters are amazing, the mechanics are amazing, and the boss fights are awesome! Every moment can be your last, so you gotta keep on your toes, that's why you shouldn't let yourself run out of ammo.
I remember about 2 years ago, I had completed everything In the game, unlocked everything, and I would complete this game twice a day doe about 3 months... I really loved this game and it helped me through the covid pandemic 😂🤘🏼

I loved this game, not just because my name is also Ethan, but because the first person perspective and new engine has given the developers and actors great potential to make such an amazing horror game. It's my most favorite RE game to this date, and I have gone back time and time again to witness the soundtracks, the enemies, the family, the puzzles, the collectibles, the story, and the satisfaction of beating the game once more.
I have to say, even though Resident Evil games were starting to turn too cheesy, they made it absolutely EPIC! Turned that shit around. This is one of my new favorite Resident Evil games. I literally have done like 4 playthoughs (on my 5th). And when they said Madhouse was really hard and terrifying, they weren't joking. It's literally a madhouse, enemies don't act and have the same behavior as in normal and easy, they're outright blood lusting violent creatures that attack with absolutely no warning. Marguerite, SUPER hard to kill. Shot her with 4 flame grenades and 1 Neuro grenade and still had to keep dumping fire from my flamer onto her eventually running out and barely making it our alive with a saw blade attack. Then used my last med kit and now have face crawling molded. My only recommendation, would be to make a mode harder than Madhouse that will require the infinite ammo to survive in "Hellhouse". haha

I was a fan of resident evil games back in teenage years and played the whole series up to Resident Evil 4, I had to say I didn't enjoy that game! I expected a resident evil game to be "Resident Evil" as originally we knew it; a survival horror game that you have to search for the items, use your brain and solve puzzles, go into a single location multiple times, etc..., not just a first person shooting game like RE4! After finishing RE4 with regret, and playing a demo RE5, I was really frustrated and promised myself to never play RE again! But a month ago a friend gave me this game and told me that I would enjoy it, so I started playing it. Man! I have say it really blew my mind! The game brings the whole original elements of RE back; the locations, puzzles, slow enemies that you can just run of, saving rooms with item box and relaxing music,... I just have to say; Thank you Capcom...

Already beaten, phenomenal game. Scary as hell, some really innovative boss fights, and the FPS controls make it feel tank-like which brings back the tension of the older games (plus puzzles and herbs galore and ammo hoarding). Best RE yet, even better than 4.

No it wasn't. I normally beat RE4 in 5-6 hours, the same length as my first playthrough of RE7.
Besides, you _do_ know RE4 isn't one of the classic games, right? 'Classic Resident Evil' generally refers to RE1 to Code: Veronica.

This game looks and plays great, solid 60 fps and some of the most detailed lighting and textures I've seen on a console. The atmosphere of the game as far as I know, has no equal. It's kind of funny though, I think CAPCOM tapped every ounce of juice in the PS4 to make this game look and run the way it does, I have never heard the internal fan(s) in my PS4 work so hard ever before lol.
This game was AMAZING! There were definitely parts that scared the living hell out of me, but that just made me want to see more.
The story is amazing, the characters are amazing, the mechanics are amazing, and the boss fights are awesome! Every moment can be your last, so you gotta keep on your toes, that's why you shouldn't let yourself run out of ammo.

I loved this game, not just because my name is also Ethan, but because the first person perspective and new engine has given the developers and actors great potential to make such an amazing horror game. It's my most favorite RE game to this date, and I have gone back time and time again to witness the soundtracks, the enemies, the family, the puzzles, the collectibles, the story, and the satisfaction of beating the game once more.

I have to say, even though Resident Evil games were starting to turn too cheesy, they made it absolutely EPIC! Turned that shit around. This is one of my new favorite Resident Evil games. I literally have done like 4 playthoughs (on my 5th). And when they said Madhouse was really hard and terrifying, they weren't joking. It's literally a madhouse, enemies don't act and have the same behavior as in normal and easy, they're outright blood lusting violent creatures that attack with absolutely no warning. Marguerite, SUPER hard to kill. Shot her with 4 flame grenades and 1 Neuro grenade and still had to keep dumping fire from my flamer onto her eventually running out and barely making it our alive with a saw blade attack. Then used my last med kit and now have face crawling molded. My only recommendation, would be to make a mode harder than Madhouse that will require the infinite ammo to survive in "Hellhouse". haha

I was a fan of resident evil games back in teenage years and played the whole series up to Resident Evil 4, I had to say I didn't enjoy that game! I expected a resident evil game to be "Resident Evil" as originally we knew it; a survival horror game that you have to search for the items, use your brain and solve puzzles, go into a single location multiple times, etc..., not just a first person shooting game like RE4!
After finishing RE4 with regret, and playing a demo RE5, I was really frustrated and promised myself to never play RE again!
But a month ago a friend gave me this game and told me that I would enjoy it, so I started playing it. Man! I have say it really blew my mind! The game brings the whole original elements of RE back; the locations, puzzles, slow enemies that you can just run of, saving rooms with item box and relaxing music,...
I just have to say; Thank you Capcom...
In my opinion this is the best resident evil game! I love the first person and I love how it's a different main protagonist!
