I can vouch for that. The park will never be what it was in the 90's. That's when the Loch Ness Monster had double loopers. Sad those days are long gone now.
The newer ads make me cringe a little, as they completely forego the park's intention of being a recreation of Europe, and just say "oh look we have big roller coasters woah!", while the older ones have a sort of charm to them. Although very recently, they have changed a little for the better in my opinion, with new rides such as Verbolten sticking with the European theme, and the very recently announced "InvadR" (a wooden roller coaster themed after Vikings attacking New France) doing the same thing and staying with the European theme.
Durgen really? The older ones don't make you cringe at how cheesy, sappy and pandering it is? Edit: never mind I got to the newer ones and their even more cheesy, sappy and pandering.
Hi Chris, We are looking for a commercial that we did for Busch Gardens Virginia back in the 90's. It was called Dueling Fiddlers and there were about six Irish dancers in it (along with the two fabulous fiddle players). It was made in San Francisco in a pub called The Blarney Stone. It was on nationally for a few months. Might you have a copy?
I would LOVE to see the original ad for the big bad wolf, again. 'Travel at the speed of fright', with the wolf running through the runs and and a clip of the coaster. any idea where that is hiding, other than Busch Gardens archives?
Dan TheMan The park group seaworld parks and entertainment (which includes both Busch Gardens parks) is made up of 12 parks and all at one time was owned by AB. But when AB was sold to InBev the new owners(InBev) decided to sell off all non-brewery business assets to include the park. The parks were purchased in whole by Blackstone Group for $2.3 billion in cash, plus up to $400 million in additional considerations. Blackstone group are holders of Legoland, Madame Tussauds, La Quinta, Luxury Resorts (LXR), Pinnacle Foods, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Apria Healthcare, Travelport, The Weather Channel (United States) plus more.
Heh I guess when I went there with my old man in the summer of 1998 was the last time me or him saw free beer. They were serving free beer when he went there in 1977 and that was a few if not couple of years after the park opened up for business. Well even if they stop serving free beer they still have one thing which they have five of, Alpengeist, Apollo's Chariot, Griffon, Loch-Ness Monster, Verbolten and any of their newest chill-spill-thrill ride is what's really their moneymaker not the beer. Which I hope never changes. I guess the "free beer" was merely promotional or a side profit for the park to attract visitors I mean you'd have a limit of only two glasses of beer that's it another glass would have came out pocket.
Kings Dominion is an amusement park. Busch Gardens is a theme park. Disney and Universal are also theme parks but I'm fairly certain Busch Gardens does better with including great rides and great theming compared to both Disney and Universal, who just have a multitude of dark/simulator rides.
I don't have any memories of BGW until at least 2002 but I'm fairly certain that the 90s were the golden age for the park. Also RIP DarKastle.

yeah Seaworld? I thought it was supposed to be an Anheuser-Busch theme park hence the name Busch Gardens.

Don't tell me that whenever anyone including me goes there to Busch Gardens... we're not have anymore... FREE BEER?! AT ALL?!
Cause if that's the case, then... NOOOOOOO!!!
It has been no free beer since before the park sale. AB stopped the brewery tours in 98
