This is really helpful. Been making maps for ten years as a hobby but this is the most clear and straightforward tutorial I've seen for this process.
Thank you! I've been doubting wether or not im communcating everything I want to communicate clearly enough, but seeing your comment made me very happy!
This is incredible! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much for sharing this! It's exactly what I was looking for
Excellent!
great tutorial and resources! thanks!
You're a saint my guy
Thanks for putting your time into doing this. Subscribed!
Awesome, thank you!
Just stumbled upon this tutorial series today. I've used all of these programs to do this, but not exactly in this way. I like the look of your method and will give it a try. Keep up the great work.
Thank you kindly! :)
I devoloped a similar process where you use real data from Nasa, "cut together" and blend then using content aware fill and then process in Wilber, even the white box is similar.
The problem was that you let "real world parts" bleed into the final result....
First, i tried something really similar, where i painted the shapes myself, but never get good results.... But this method of yours is really good, gonna try to remake my entire map using it. The old one you can see the himalayas.
Great minds think alike - and bad ones rarely differ… Glad you enjoyed it! I actually use both ”fake” and real world topology depending on the circumstances!
What settings do you use for the brushes?
Where can we get more brushes like those? it would be cool to have even more variation :)
I have no clue, they’re not that difficult to create though. I’m sure there’s a guide somewhere!
I don't use photoshop but I use gimp, can I ask the id of the colours ?
I noticed that some of the brushes in the video are missing from the file I downloaded (brush pack 2), mainly the medium ones.
Nonetheless, I'm really enjoying your content!
Thank you for tellig me! Which ones are missing? I'll uppdate the pack right away :)
@@shortvalleyhiker I believe it's the Binary medium brushes seen at 2:44
@@sodiepopp9304 I´ve updated the link with the correct file!
@@shortvalleyhiker Thank you so much man! Can't wait to make maps with these!
@@shortvalleyhiker dose the burshs work for gimp
Is it possible to get wilbur on mac? I haven’t been able to find it
As far as I know it’s only available for windows devices
Hi, I'm so stuck with this (I don't know anything about Photoshop). I succeeded at importing my own landmass (not easily mind you) and I just now can't seem to make it so I can paint with the brushes on it. When I try, it says "The fill for this layer must be rasterized before proceeding. It will no longer be editable as a fill. Rasterize the fill?" which seems to remove the hue adjustments and brushes become inoperable. I've been at this for 2 hours and I'm just so bad I can't make it work. Could you help me ?
Quick fix! Select the masks and paint on those instead, the mask is the icon to the right of the solid, for each layer. Hope it helps!
How did you import the landmass to replace the layer thats indicated ?
So I’m new to photoshop and this is probably a stupid question but how do you insert your own landmass using your template? I can’t seem to figure it out.
The layers are all clipping masks on the lowest layer. Your topology only needs to replace either the lowest layer or its mask.
@@shortvalleyhiker How do you do that?
Im not great with photoshop, how do I reize the template to 4K and or can you make a video on how you made the template?
You need to change the canvas size. From memory, the shortcut is ctrl+alt+C on windows.
@@canislupusfool When I resize it, I get white bars on the newly extended space and I can't seem to paint that part to match the rest.
Are you working with vectors or pixels?
In this series its photoshop which mean rasters. Though everything can easily be converted with varying results
@@shortvalleyhiker Thank you for your reply. Also: I tried to import an xcf file from gimp to wilbur. Should that be possible?
