When I replaced my fan clutch on my Trailblazer I made a simple tool to hold the water pump pulley in place. I used a piece of flat metal stock. I think it was 1/2 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick, by probably about a foot long, but I do not remember the exact length. What I did was drill holes in each end of that metal bar, fasten one end to the water pump pulley by removing one bolt and reinstalling the bolt then fastening the other end of the rod to one of the alternator mount bolts. That pulley could no long move at all. Then I proceeded to loosen and remove the fan clutch.
I think I found an easier way, it's called go to your local auto parts store and take advantage of their tool loaner program. I borrowed a Fan Clutch Wrench Set, Fan Clutch Holder, and while I was at it, I had them throw in the Serpentine Accessory Fan Belt Remove and Install Tool. By the time it took you to remove that fan clutch, I'd already have been sitting back in a lounge chair enjoying a brewski or two.🤣😂
Not everyone lives near an auto parts store, and not every parts store will loan tools. For people like me who live 60 miles from the closest Walmart or police station. Diy tools are a part of life.
👍☑️ spend a couple hours of ur "FREE" time (that you have now valued at $ 17.50 an hour) minus material cost, depreciation on welding equipment, etc, etc and you get a "FREE" tool. Does make for a good video and much more satisfying than driving to the store LOL tks man!
pro trick no trick tools needed put your breaker bar in belt tensioner and a a wrench or large crescent on the big nut pull tension at the same time hit the wrench with a 2 pd sledge
Ok! This solidified my idea to go out and buy a pneumatic fan clutch removal tool set!
A quarter stick of dynamite will also do the trick.
I've been trying to get it off for about six months now thanks so much
I had to laugh, you are a comedian in the making. Now I want to watch Vice Grip Garage. Thanks for the clutch info, I needed that data.

@@chevylanier7468 Start your own business, tool loaner on wheels.😁😆😅
@@Orange-Jumpsuit-Time easier thought up then done. But that rental chit isn't a option all the time.
@@chevylanier7468 Not to mention, Florida is filled to the brim with decerped old people that rely on others to do chit for them.😆😅🤣
Cool, damn clamp broke.
🤣🤣 Great video though I need to replace the belts on my pick up truck... Definitely using this information! Thanks!

Not the best way. You could possible ruin your serpentine belt that way. I have seen comments from people that did ruin their belt.
a bit of cardboard or pulling your radiator can help protect it.
I slid card in front of my radiator when I replaced my fan clutch. I did not want any chance of me dinging the radiator while removing that stuff.
Now i just need them machines to make that cheap tool
I have an easier way using common tools. Look for my comment about it.
i just did mine today used the crap loaner tool from auto zone never again Im making one of these
NAPA has a better fan clutch wrench.
Why remove belt when it can be done with it.
Exelent tool .
Those are left-handed threads: loosen clockwise
holy sh1t, toasty heater ad is a huge scam!
