  • How to release a seized boost pin.
The boost pin in the 200tdi had seized due to water being sucked in through the vent at the back of the injector pump whilst wading. The corroded the governor/guide pin against the boost pin causing a lack of fuel when the turbo kicked in.
In this video I show the steps I took to fault find the lack of power symptom I had with the car. Lack of power was the only symptom I had.

    Nice find!
I referenced this because I have a rover300 pump on my 1998 vw Tdi engine, in a mk1 rabbit.
Funny thinking my injection pump used to live in one of your suv

The cone the boost pin rests against can be turned to adjust fuel during boost I adjusted the position to getting a loss of power with foot down then richen slightly & now my LWB County returns 33 to 34 mpg across country driving from Thame to Kington >> Its similar to adjusting a Carburetor for best fuel consumption on a petrol vehicle... Another fuel saver was achieved with fitting road type tyres the same circumference & softer rear dampers... Seems bouncing up and down isn't fuel efficient >> This has been observed on other vehicles after changing springs & dampers >

I do believe that nylon washer is commonly referred to as the fun police washer... Many ppl shave it down or toss it completely

Is put a sealed reservoir, like a accumulator, and hook that to the vent tube.
