      O man the plans I had for my 99 gs300 and my 95 gs300, was going to buy a donor 2jz ge vvti and swap into the 95 and use the non vvti to build my 99 with, but yk someone had to steal the 95 and strip it. 😅

  • @evannniesen460

    I would say stick to the VVTi and swap the internals, the 2JZ-GE crank is the same as the 2JZ-GTE. Pistons valves (including springs and retainers) and rods alone are around $3,000.

    I was doing research for mods on my 2JZGE w/ VVT-I and I’m glad you brought the rod issue up. The heads are good for power but I’ll just get some nice after market rods. Idk the reason behind making the rods lil pencil sticks when they made the VVT-I models.

    • @rya1t
      @rya1t ปีที่แล้ว +3

      More horsepower actually. They did the same with my 96 sc400. The 2nd version of the 1uz makes 10 more hp at the cost of thinner rods.

  • @2jzach
    @2jzach ปีที่แล้ว

    Pretty spot on the only notes i would make are
    1. 92 to early 96 model Lexus sc300s came with the 2jzge nonvvti
    2. The a340e otherwise known as fhe automatic transmissions used for the early model sc300 is capable of 450 stock on the auto
    3. A650e which is known as the 5 spd auto isn't really the move for boost but can be doable on low boost numbers like ~350hp give or take
    4. A patch harness is an adapter to fit another stock ecu/standalone. Your talking about a parallel harness that runs your stock ecu and a stand alone at the same time its almost exclusive to the auto transmission cars because with manual you can just get a standalone if your obd1 like I am and auto you would need a parallel harness and a standalone to be able to tune the motor.

    Just throw pistons and rods; look up the company in Texas that builds the auto trans; and get an lsd… stand alone ecu because the can bus is a pain. Don’t drive in crappy weather or it will teach you humbleness like mustangs w crowds. The vvti actually helps w torque down low and daily driving.

    • @Fishi413
      @Fishi413 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want to go manual; r154 from a 7m supra. Cheapest route you can go; or cd009 kits; again stand alone best bet or find a manual ecu.

  • @Stzer118

    There all the same block the vvt models have oil squirters the turbo models don’t. Just port what ever head you got and send that thing to real street performance and forget about it!!!

  • @brandonallgrim511
    @brandonallgrim511 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you dont need to buy the vvti head the ge head flows better and they make cam pulleys that have a built in cam sensor and the coil pack wire straight to the ecu all u would need to do is a new head gasket and head studs.

    Toyota soarers, altezzas, chasers etc. (Basicly jdm versions of these) came in 1jz gte, which is super closely related to the 2j, think of it as a stroked out 1jz, those ate similarly priced, with turbos

      @Kids For Drugs thank you for the input, I get that aluminum blocks can’t handle too much boost. Just curious as far as what may be a good route to take for it, since currently it just has some long tube headers, borla exhaust, a tune, flex fuel, and an CAI.

      @LooseyGoosey28 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kids For Drugs that is a big priority of mine. I’m looking into getting coil overs or lowering springs. I figure if I’m going to spend the money, coilover would probably be the best rouge than reusing the stock struts on BMR lowering spring as an example? Any thoughts?
